Sorceress 101 - Chapter 330
“You know what? You should even be thanking me right now for having the trouble of visiting you this late at night rather than acting all high and mighty before me…”
Mu Yanxiao replied with the same level of cattiness that Mu Lingxi gave her.
She even put her arms across her bosom when she said those words.
“Huh! And why would I even do that? Would you mind to explain it to me?”
Of course, our main character would never allow anyone, especially not Mu Yanxiao to intimidate her even just for a bit.
So she threw her cousin another spiteful reply and even arched one of her eyebrows inch high at that.
“Well, just so you know, I had some news in me that you would probably be dying to hear about..”
Mu Yanxiao declared with a confident smirk on her comely face.
She purposely phrased it in such a way that would make her statement sound more intriguing.
Thinking that by doing so, her cousin would get all worked up upon hearing her words.
According to the usual script, her cousin, Mu Lingxi, should have been all flustered by now and it would only be a matter of seconds before she would start to lower herself to asked Mu Yanxiao’s cooperation.
Pleading at her to tell what exactly was that news all about.
Mu Yanxiao was expecting as much reaction as that from her cousin so she watched attentively for any change that would happen within Mu Lingxi’s facial reaction
After all, that was how the script of a typical drama usually goes.
Even Janus was waiting for another drama to unfold before him
But to their dismay, Mu Lingxi looked like she did not even care at all for the piece of news that Mu Yanxiao had with her.
Sad to say, Mu Lingxi was not someone who would follow the usual script.
“Lady Yanxiao, if you don’t have any plan of telling it to me, then so be it. Let us just say I’m not interested to hear any of it. Okay??? If that was all that you have to say, then I will be taking my leave then. Goodbye!”
Mu Lingxi said with a flat tone.
Then without waiting for Mu Yanxiao’s response, Mu Lingxi turned on her heels and started to walk away right after saying her piece.
“Wait!”
Mu Yanxiao called her out and tried to stop her cousin.
Mu Lingxi halted her steps but this time though, she did not turn around to face the other party.
Instead, she just stopped on her track and stood there on the same spot without moving. Her back still facing Mu Yanxiao.
“Tsss… What an ungrateful fellow.”
Mu Yanxiao muttered under her breath before continuing.
“I got news about your Brother Gaoyan. Are you sure you don’t want to hear it?”
When Mu Lingxi heard that it was all about her Brother Gaoyan, she immediately turned around and walked back to where Mu Yanxiao was left standing.
Knowing that it was now the time for her to play the upper hand, Mu Yanxiao grinned widely.
Her smile was so wide that it almost looked like she was smiling from ear to ear.
If she only knew from the beginning that the only way to get the better of Mu Lingxi was to mention Mu Gaoyan’s name, then she must have probably stated it already right from the start.
“Ohh looked who was back?? I thought you don’t want to hear it anymore. What was with the sudden change of mind? It was so unlike you, Lady Lingxi.
Mu Yanxiao said with a simpered smile on her face.
It was indeed such a waste that such an angelic face was wasted with Mu Yanxiao’s character.
But thinking about it, that was how a usual white lotus was.
Looking so innocent on the outside, but a total schemer on the inside.
There was no doubt that Mu Yanxiao also played a part in fanning the fire to make the marriage arrangement between Mu Lingxi and Long Fuzi happen.
Thinking that by doing so, she would be able to secure her position of becoming the crown princess of the Long Kingdom.
Since she would most likely be the only remaining candidate left to marry the crown prince as soon as her cousin was cast out of the equation.
It was just a pity though, that her calculation ended up backfiring at her when her cousin Mu Lingxi decided to run away from her arranged marriage with Prince Long Fuzi.
Leading for their Mu clan to fall out of the royal family’s good grace and totally eradicating Mu Yanxiao’s chance to marry the crown prince for good.
“If you know what was good for you, then you better not do anything funny. Stop fooling around and tell me what happened to my brother this instant!”
Mu Lingxi said in a dead-serious tone.
Even those eyes that she used to stare at Mu Yanxiao was so cold that it was enough to rival the cold draft of that night.
For a split second, Mu Yanxiao was even caught between a dilemma if whether her shuddering was due to the cold breeze from the night draft or if it was because of Mu Lingxi’s cold eyes and stare.
“You got to be kidding me!”
Mu Yanxiao told herself.
There was no way that she would admit to herself that she just momentarily shuddered by just the mere presence of this cousin of hers.
“Don’t make me repeat myself. What happened to my brother??!!”
Mu Lingxi reiterated in a manner than commands more authority than the latter.
When it came to the matters concerning her family, Mu Lingxi would never stand idly nor take it lightly.
Using her Brother Gaoyan’s name just to get under nerves was the biggest mistake that Mu Yanxiao could ever do.
Because Mu Lingxi knew for herself that there was nothing she could not do for the sake of her brother.
Although that Brother Gaoyan of hers was technically not his brother for real since she was just nothing but an incomplete soul that transmigrated to the body of previous Mu Lingxi of this world;
There was still part of her that deeply cared about that Brother Gaoyan and Mu Lingxi had no plan of getting rid of that part of her.
For some reason, Mu Lingxi also felt like being protective over this said brother.
When Mu Yanxiao heard the edge of threat in her cousin’s voice, she was startled.
Never did she expect to saw that kind of reaction from Mu Lingxi.
From how she had known this cousin of hers from those times that they had spent together in the Mu Clan residence during their childhood days, Mu Lingxi was not that scary and intimidating person.
But right now, she seemed to be a totally different person.
But of course, no matter how intimidated she felt, Mu Yanxiao did not allow it to show in her face.
“Is that how you asked for a favor to someone?? I must say, your manners were truly regressing over time, Lady Lingxi..”
Mu Yanxiao said in a sarcastic tone addressing Mu Lingxi exactly the same way as to how the other party used to address her just a while ago.
Due to the fact that she had something in her hand that was useful to the other party, Mu Yanxiao knew for certain that she had the upper hand this time.
Precisely for that reason that she had the guts to face Mu Lingxi in the first place and did not back away that easy just because she was intimidated.
What she did instead, was she stood her ground and continue to test how far Mu Lingxi’s patience could go.
