Sorceress - Chapter 259
It is a good thing that this part of the sea is not highly terrorized by the man-eating merpeople.
The last time they have been here was when they sail through a shipping vessel that used to transport magical items to different places.
It is also the same ship that acts as a medium to bring fresh blood as well as the returning students in Magus Academia.
They traveled for around three months or so that time, and on the very last day of their voyage to Magus Academia, they got attacked by the merpeople.
Many of the aspiring young warlocks and sorceresses met their demise at that time.
For they fall under that charm of the merpeople and they were mercilessly dragged away by the vicious merfolk underwater. Probably ending up as one of their food supply.
Mu Lingxi and the two Long brothers traveled together on that same ship so they were aware of what happened to this place.
As such, among their group of six, the three of them especially Long Yue are the most apprehensive to go back here.
It would definitely spell trouble if they would have been teleported here at the same time that the merfolk decided to lurk in this area. Good thing, that is not the case.
“We are finally out of Magus Academia, but from here, where do we go next?”
Yun Xue said as he dried himself using a fire element magic spell. The rest of the group also did the same and they hurriedly dry themselves with their won spells lest they catch colds for having their body soak in water.
“According to the information given by Schoolmaster Yin, Sanguine Tundra is somewhere along the Northeast part of Magus Academia. That is why I also suggested for us to take the exit in the north.”
Apparently, Fan Lei did not choose the portal at Northern Bloom Farm for no reason. The reason why he chose this exit is for them to get the fastest route possible going to Sanguine Tundra.
“Are we going to take another portal from here going there???
To be honest, Mu Lingxi is already getting fed up by all this portal hopping and endless teleportation thing. She was starting to get a ‘portal lag’ as to how Janus termed it.
Yes, it was indeed more convenient traveling through portals because they would be able to cross long-distance places in less amount of time.
But there were these times that she also craved for some wisp of fresh air. A real-time traveling, not just mere teleporting from place to place.
Over time, the hype of teleportation is starting to fade and for some reason, she finds herself feeling that there is no such trill in doing that anymore.
As such, she can’t help but asked that question and hope that she will get the answer that she wants. This time, it seemed that author-sama hear her pleas as Fan Lei give her the answer that she desired to hear right now.
“Unfortunately, there is no available portal nearby. So we must travel independently in the meantime. It will take us around one day or less before we could reach the portal leading tho the entrance of Sanguine Tundra”
“Shall we call our beasts now??”
“Apparently, yes. We left so suddenly as such I did not get a chance to get any reservation or book an appointment with any flying beast..”
“MEOW”
[Reservation??? Book an appointment??? Don’t tell me there are also traveling agencies in this place?]
“Most likely there is, remember the Thestrals that we use when we went to Cloudmist Ridge??”
“MEOW”
[Anyways, why waste time and resources in booking a beast to when you all have a spiritual beast of your own??]
“Why don’t you asked them instead???”
“MEOW”
“TSS… Never mind!”
While the master nad cat duo was busy talking among themselves through their mental link, Yun Xue and the others were not dallying either.
They also tried to establish a mental link with each of their own spiritual beasts to summon them. So that they can use them in traveling.
After a minute or so, four bizarre-looking beasts arrived to answer to their master calling.
The Chimerical Qilin walk towards Fan Lei while the Grypon Beast landed beside Yun Xue. Followed by the Piasa Bird and Nian Beast that approached Chan Gu and Long Fuzi simultaneously.
Janus also reverted to his panther form and Mu Lingxi mounted him with ease. Just like before, Long Yue was the only one left with no beast so he ended up hitching a ride to his older brother, Long Fuzi.
Just like before, the group rides the wind as they travel at an incredible speed. The cold gale of wind pressed on their skin as they traveled with the speed of light
Covering a distance of around a few hundred kilometers or so, Mu Lingxi and her friends were able to reach the said portal leading to the entrance of Sanguine Tundra before the day ends.
When they arrived at the place, a hanging bridge was constructed to connect the two cliffs. The cliff on the other side of the hanging bridge is not visible due to the thick congregation of fog.
It was as if the clouds descended on this area to cover the hanging bridge itself.
The group intended to travel through it by their beast, but it seemed that no beast can cross the hanging bridge through their physical form.
They can notice as much as that because apparently, their beast stops advancing from that point. They all halted before the hanging bridge.
Most likely, the portal leading to the Sanguine Tundra lies within this hanging bridge.
The hanging bridge is extremely long and old-looking. It sways whenever strong winds blow onto it. Signs of wear and tear can be seen in every part of the hanging bridge. Signifying that the hanging bridge before them already had a long history of existence.
Thick fog also covered the area below the hanging bridge so no one can see how high it was above the ground. But a barely audible sound of rushing water can be heard below it.
So most likely, the hanging bridge is built above running water.
Walking closer to the point where the hanging bridge meets the land, they tried to peak amidst the cloud-like congregation of fog
It was that time that the group notice that there is someone standing in the middle of the hanging bridge.
Because of the thick fog in the area, Mu Lingxi and the others can hardly see how the other party exactly looks like.
They can only make out a green silhouette of a lady with something like an extremely long black hair that reached down to her feet and was trailing behind her.
But it seemed that it won’t take them long before they could finally have a closer look at the other party. Because in every blink of their eye, the figure seemed to move nearer and nearer to them
In just a few blinks, the other party was already standing before them. It was a mysterious maiden dressed in green silk and velvet.
Her dress is as green as the leaves of spring, and a velvet cloak of the same color hung around her shoulders. On her neck hung a horn made of ivory while on her belt was a sheath of arrows all made out from pure gold.
Her bow dangles in her right shoulder and even that bow is also meticulously ornamented with various precious stones.
The other party could easily pass for the look of an ordinary human, only if not because of her eyes. Her eyes where solid black with no white showing.
When Mu Lingxi and her friend saw the overall appearance of the maiden standing before them, they were obviously startled and goosebumps rose to their skin.
Especially when they notice that the extremely long thing that was trailing behind the other party is not exactly her hair as they thought it was. But rather, a bunch of tree branches growing straight from her back!
“Hi, my name is Ecia.”
