Sorceress - Chapter 322
“Where do you think I could find another direct descent of a deity???”
Schoolmaster Yin asked the beautiful maiden inside the portrait.
This was the same portrait that was tasked to guard the passageway leading to his office.
Those who used to visit Schoolmaster Yin’s office thought that the lady in the portrait was incapable of speech.
For an enchanted artifact, it was already a great feat for the other party to be capable of carrying on a specific tasked.
But little did they know, that the lady in the portrait was not just capable of performing certain tasks.
It was also capable of speaking.
It was just that, the lady in the portrait rarely spoke to anyone. And to date, there was only a single person whom it was used to talk to.
It was only whenever Schoolmaster Yin was talking to her did the other party would use her voice to answer him back.
“You can start looking from the sorceresses of Silver Arrows…”
The beautiful maiden inside the portrait suggested.
There was something in her voice that could calm one’s mind.
Just like the sound created by the wind chimes every time it was struck by the wind
Her voice sounded so sweet and relaxing. But at the same time, it was also empty.
It was a mystery though how the other party was able to make one felt those feelings just by her voice
Her eyes were devoid of any warmth or life. The way she spoke also did not hold any kind of emotion
Unbeknownst to anyone, not even to Schoolmaster Yin itself that the beautiful lady that was actually painted in the canvass was no other than the controversial fallen deity, Lilith.
The same Lilith that founded the Silver Arrows singlehandedly as well as the direct ancestor of Yu Yan.
He had found this portrait together with the talking oak tree in an ancient domain that he visited before when he was still at his apprenticeship period of studying Necromancy.
Just like how clueless Schoolmaster Yin was right now regarding the identity of the lady in the portrait,
The young Yin Shun back then also did not have any idea who was the lady in the portrait at all.
He just thought about bringing the portrait back with him.
Simply because he also found the painting interesting and mysterious when he first laid his eyes on it.
Exactly just like Mu Lingxi and the others perceived the portrait when they first saw it in his hall.
Most likely, it was because of the deleted part of the painting near the lady’s bosom. Which barely affected the overall aesthetic of the painting.
At first, the painting was just like any other ordinary painting. It was not capable of doing anything.
But Schoolmaster Yin enchanted a spirit in the portrait using his ability in the practice of soul arts.
From then on, the lady in the portrait became his official guard at the passageway leading to his office.
And from time to time, whenever he was faced with a dilemma or stumped over something, he would go and asked the other party out of habit.
“The Silver Arrows?? That won’t work…”
Since Lilith is the founder of Silver Arrows as well as the ancestor of Yu Yan, it was indeed a good idea to start searching from there.
But Schoolmaster Yin was already aware of the fact that Yu Yan was the last direct descendant of the fallen deity, Lilith.
So it would only be a waste of his time and effort if he would go there to look for another source of deity blood.
After all, those remaining members of Silver Arrows now were nothing but mere followers only.
Each of them was indeed talented sorceresses among their peers, that was why they were recruited to join the Silver Arrows in the first place.
But they don’t have a single drop of deity blood within them.
So Schoolmaster Yin did not have any good use for them.
“Have you forgotten the fact that Yu Yan had a son and a daughter to a non-magic human before? Normally, they should have the blood of a deity within them as well.”
The lady in the portrait added.
Although the lady in the portrait was only capable of simple analysis, it actually has a good memory to make up with its deficiency.
Since Schoolmaster Yin already had the portrait in his possession for a long time now, then it was only normal for the lady in the portrait to know a thing or two about Schoolmaster Yin’s private matter.
But it was a pity though, that the lady of the portrait was not able to retain her own consciousness.
Aside from having Lilith’s face and disposition, the lady in portrait would only remain as nothing but an enhanced spirit created by Schoolmaster Yin.
She would never come close to comparing to the original Lilith whom she was modeled from.
Nevertheless, the analyses that she used to provide to Schoolmaster Yin whenever the other party was stump about something were always spot on.
When Schoolmaster Yin was reminded about that known fact about Yu Yan’s past, he was so delighted.
At the same time, he had a sudden urge to smack his head for that obvious lapse of his attention.
“How could I even neglect that fact???! HAHAHAHAH!”
Schoolmaster Yin blurted out in exhilaration.
Then he started to laugh so hard until he was almost out of breath.
It was only when he was already catching his breath did he stopped from laughing
“This is not a hopeless case for us Yu Yan! I can bring you back to existence. We just need the deity blood from your children. We could definitely put them into good use now”
A glint of maleficent light flashed in Schoolmaster Yin’s eyes when he said those words.
He watched in amazement as the ancient chalice in his hand started to shake and wrestle free from his grasp.
Schoolmaster Yin remained like that for a couple of seconds before he finally walked away and head back inside his office.
An aura of malevolence was clearly radiating out from him at that very moment.
At the same time, the ancient chalice that he was holding on his hand started to burn on his skin.
As if it was trying to warn the other party not to hurt her children.
But Schoolmaster Yin was already immune to it so he did not pay any heed to the protest made by the ancient chalice.
As soon as the door to Schoolmaster Yin’s office closed, the lady in the portrait returned to her post guarding the passageway.
Inside the painting, she positioned herself under the beautiful peach tree that was always in full bloom.
Then she sat over there and placed her hands over her bosom as if she was carrying something.
Although she was not sure why did she always have to revert back to that same position over and over again.
Nor she did not have any idea what exactly was she supposed to carry in her bosom since it was already a deleted part of the painting.
No one knew exactly what was the ‘thing’ that the lady in the painting was actually holding near in her bosom.
Even the talking oak tree who came with the painting in the ancient domain did not know a thing next to the portrait.
So what more to Schoolmaster Yin and the others?
Only the original Lilith knew what it was exactly because it was her portrait after all.
Moreover, it was also the original Lilith who personally erased that part of the painting, using nothing but her own tears.
The same legendary tears that she shed when she learned about the poor fate that had befallen to her beloved pet.
The tears that almost flooded and nearly obliterated everyone who used to live in this magical world during ancient times.
