Sorceress - Chapter 333
Having nothing else left to do, Mu Lingxi and her cute little black cat, Janus went back to their dorm room.
But as soon as Mu Lingxi stepped inside the room and entered their dorm again, she was immediately greeted with the intriguing gaze from her dorm mates.
Especially so with the piercing stare of one of her friends that looked as if he was just about to shot her with cold daggers at any moment.
To her surprise, the usually indifferent Yun Xue was actually the first one to react this time!
“Why do you have to talk to a girl this late at night and you even brought her somewhere far away from your friend’s earshot? Are you two in a secret affair???? Are you hiding something from us??”
Yun Xue fired her up with questions one after another.
But before Yun Xue could even bury her down with more of his questions, Mu Lingxi decided to cut him off already.
“Ohh c’mon Yun Xue, what are you even saying? Where did you get such a weird line of though???”
Her eyes actually almost went on big circles when she heard Yun Xue’s inquiry.
And due to her shock, she even widened her mouth so wide that it almost seemed as if she was a fish that had fallen on the shore.
She honestly could not understand why Yun Xue was getting agitated for no reason.
“Have you been reading novel books in the library with Fan Lei lately??? ‘Cause you honestly sound someone describing a plotline straight from a fictional book to me right now.”
Mu Lingxi added as she gave Yun Xue a weird look.
Seeing Yun Xue acting all nosy and worked up over such trivial things was so unlike him at all.
“MEOW”
[This lad sure knows how to run his imagination wild. Maybe he should start reconsidering his priorities as early as today. I think he should be better off as an author, rather than a warlock.]
“Don’t try to change the topic here…”
Yun Xue replied with a slightly irritated tone, but he indeed calmed down a little.
Maybe he might realize it by himself that he also overreacted a little
“Stop putting meaning on everything, could you? We just went for a stroll. That’s all. Nothing much.”
Mu Lingxi tried her best to sound as casual as she could while she explained herself.
For some reason, Yun Xue seemed to give her the vibe as if he caught her cheating on him with someone else.
But regardless of how hard Mu Lingxi tried to look nonchalant, her friends did not seem to have any interest in buying it at all.
This was evident as to how they used to stare at her with those same questioning eyes as if telling her that they did not believe a single word from what she just said.
“Su Yan, it’s not that we wanted to interfere with your hobbies or what so ever. If you really love collecting girls, then so be it. We just hope that you won’t overdo it. Maybe if you could do it more discreet next time.”
Chan Gu who stood on the corner with his arms across his chest said almost in a whisper, and to which he was seconded by Fan Lei.
“Chan Gu was right, Su Yan. We should be careful not to get ourselves involved with any rumors. It’s not a good thing to be seen meeting with a sorceress out in the school grounds in the middle of the night.”
“Exactly the same with my thought. Su Yan, I hope you won’t take as an offense, thinking that we are trying to overstep our boundaries. But as your friend, we ought to do as much as this.”
Yun Xue chirped in when he got the support from his other friends.
“We were not sure how rumors could get nasty at times. We just don’t want to hear any weird rumors about you circulating in the entire school in the future.”
Long Fuzi added with the same level of concern in his eyes as if he was giving a lecture to his younger brother.
Almost everyone got the wrong idea when they saw their friend, Su Yan, walking away together with Mu Yanxiao
Only Long Yue remained silent and unaffected at the side since he was already privy with Su Yan’s (Mu Lingxi )real identity.
He knew that Su Yan and Mu Lingxi were of the same person.
So since Mu Yanxiao and Mu Lingxi were cousins, he did not find anything unusual about the situation at all.
Yet, despite knowing this secret personally, of course, Long Yue was still reluctant to stand against his other friends’ claim and spoke for Mu Lingxi’s stead.
For he might risk getting caught by his friends hiding about something from them and accidentally spilled Mu Lingxi’s deepest secret in the process.
After all, he knew himself better than anyone else. He was not a good liar at all.
So might as well better be safe than sorry
But Mu Lingxi’s friends were not purposely trying to nag at her either.
Well, that could not be said to be entirely the case with Yun Xue, but the rest was all good.
All in all, they were all just sincerely concerned about their friend’s well being.
They just don’t want their friend getting involved with some nasty rumors in the school in the near future.
So they could not help themselves but remind their friend out of goodwill
Nonetheless, when Mu Lingxi came to think about how her friends took everything about her as if she was some kind of campus Casanova who loves to play and fool around with girls, she was not sure what to feel.
Or how exactly should she react about it?
Should she be mad or delighted that her disguise as a man was so effective?
It seemed her friends’ first impression about her definitely last for good.
Su Yan’s (Mu Lingxi) ‘Casanova image’ was deeply engraved in their minds.
In the end, Mu Lingxi could only exhale a mouthful of turbid air due to exasperation.
She was completely helpless against her friends’ initial evaluation of her identity as Su Yan.
Long Yue could also only gave her a sympathetic nod to express his moral support.
Old adage was not called as words of wisdom for no reason, after all.
Since old sayings tended to ring true at times.
The first impressions indeed last.
