Soul For A Girlfriend? - Chapter 295
Suzuha’s eyes grew wider as those words escaped his mouth. She felt like sinking into the bench she was sitting on. There was no going back from that point, and she was confirmed that her gut feelings were not wrong, after all.
“What?” She asked in a trembling voice.
The panic on her face thrilled Saishi. He let out a slight chuckle and decided to push her off the edge, “Nothing, I’m glad to hear that. I thought you were with some other guy at some love hotel.”
Those words only increased her agitation further. Her heart was throbbing and she couldn’t take her eyes off his face. Even then, she hoped for all that to be silly banter from his side.
“Wha… the heck? Why did you come to that conclusion?” She asked, trying to sound calm, but her voice wasn’t supporting her.
Watching the frightened Suzuha hanging on the edge, he decided to lend a hand for her to climb up.
He laughed casually and scratched the back of his neck as he said, “Oh, you know how pessimistic I’m? My mind just assumes the worst.”
“Well then tell your mind not to!” Suzuha rebuked him. He just smiled at her and said in a soft but defined tone, “That’s obviously not the case, or is it?”
“Come again?”
Suzuha was experiencing an emotional rollercoaster. Everytime she thought that things were not actually turning for the worse, Saishi was saying something that would make her disregard that thought.
At some point, she wondered if he was doing this on purpose or not.
Saishi was finally growing bored from tormenting her. Suzuha’s reactions were dull and annoying which didn’t amuse him much. He decided to stop playing around and get straight to the point.
“Don’t play dumb, Suzuha!” He raised his voice at her which startled her. She scooted back on the bench and stared at him for a good few minutes.
Her eyebrows tensed up, followed by the formation of a frown on her face. She quickly stood up and asked, “What’s up with you?! Why are you being so hostile all of a sudden?”
Saishi leaned towards her to match her eye level. Staring at his reflection in her ember orbs, he asked quietly, “Does it look like I’m infuriated?”
“Yes, it sure does.” She moved her face away from him and asked, “But what happened? Why are you so agitated all of a sudden?”
A smile formed on his face, as he raised his eyebrows and asked, “You don’t know?”
“How can I know if you don’t tell me?” Suzuha sighed. Saishi just stared at her and asked, “So I’ll ask again. Where were you on Christmas Eve?”
His bitter tone and pale face creeped her out. She averted her eyes from him and answered, “I had something else to attend to. That’s why I had to cancel other plans.”
“Like meeting your boyfriend?”
“What?”
A chill ran down her spine as those words vibrated in her ear. Her gut feelings ended up becoming true. He indeed knew about what she was trying to hide. She never expected him to have such precise perception.
“I mean… your other boyfriend?”
“I don’t get it… what are you talking about?” Suzuha thought of acting dumb, but it wasn’t taking her far. Saishi chuckled and asked, “You really think I don’t understand that you’re lying?”
“Wait a minute… Why are you accusing me out of the blue?” She walked towards him in hope of intimidating him.
Leaning closer to him, she questioned, “I can ask you the same thing! Why were you with Addachin?”
“You avoided my question earlier. And now, you’re just hurling allegations against me?!”
Saishi was staring at her. Noticing him listening to her quietly relieved her a bit. Maybe acting as a victim and guilt tripping him into accepting that it was all his fault was a rather good idea.
“Suzuha, we can settle this without any unnecessary drama, you know?”
“Drama? So when I do it, it’s drama?!”
“Both of us know, this isn’t going anywhere. Listen to me and we can settle this for good.”
“Settle what? Now that the water has trickled towards you, you’re finding excuses?”
Saishi sighed and took out his mobile. Opening his gallery, he displayed a particular picture to her and asked calmly, “Suzuha… care to explain this?”
Her eyes grew wide at the picture as she stared at it with her mouth hanging open for a few moments. With a trembling voice, she glanced at Saishi and asked, “What is… Where did you get that?”
Saishi put his mobile back and asked, “Now you understand why I said you’re in no position to talk?”
A picture of herself with a boy other than the guy she was dating was something very immoral that left her in no position to stand for herself. And the fact that her boyfriend revealed that picture to her makes it even worse.
“Tell me, where did you get it?” She asked, and he replied almost instantly, “I clicked that. What else do you expect?”
“What happened? You seem out of words suddenly.”
“What were you doing there?”
“I’m the one asking questions here, Suzuha.”
“I… um… He is actually… uhm…” She had nothing to say, and seeing her stutter he laughed, “What? Speak in a language I can understand?”
“Well, why don’t we break up? There is no going back from there, is there?” Saishi leaned down a bit and stared into her eyes which were stuck towards the ground.
“Wait… no! I can explain, he is just a friend. I met after…”
“At a love hotel with a friend? You intrigue me Suzuha.”
“No, we didn’t actually go there. We were just passing by.”
“I swear, I didn’t do anything. He wanted to do it with me but I already told him about being taken.”
Seeing her restless like that thrilled Saishi even more. There was something about her panicked face that made Saishi wanna mess around with her even more. Her desperation gave him a certain kind of joy.
“Oh, chill out. I was messing around with you.” He chuckled and Suzuha blinked at him in confusion, “Huh?”
“You can do whatever you want.”
