Spiderweb - 131 Explain
Mrs. Cloud didn’t look the slightest bit amused. In fact, not a part of her moved at his comment.
Vixen let out a sigh before continuing.
“This links back to one of the reasons why the patient was placed on a one-month extra prohibition of going out of her room,” Vixen continued.
“In what way?” Mrs. Cloud asked.
“Regan Duran has a kind of impulsive behavior and is prone to start hyperventilating out of nowhere from a trigger that no one knows while behaving like she’s stuck in some nightmare of her own that plays out in the day time right in front of her,” Vixen explained, “it’s kind of washes over her like wave she’s caught up in.”
Mrs. Cloud’s forehead furrowed and yet no lines could be seen on them. “Oh, that’s horrible, poor girl.”
Vixen didn’t even want to look at her face, he didn’t want to know whether she was telling the truth or playing with his feelings with petty lies. T self-deprecating
“Hm,” Vixen nodded, “she’s also one for self-deprecating and tends to talk less of herself based on acts that she committed.”
Mrs. Cloud’s face paused for a moment and the same thought passed her head and her son’s. ‘How pathetic.’
“I didn’t call you here for a patient analysis, tell me how that contributes to whatever happened today,” Mrs. Cloud asked, her eyes peering down at Vixen.
Vixen nearly clenched his jaw in her presence but held himself back. He didn’t want to get fired. He also didn’t want to explain the situation. He was more than sure that she already knew the gist of what was going on and yet was trying to force him to say words that he looked like he was unwilling to say. It was sickening but was such a strong display of power that he was immediately pinned below her.
He continued to explain.
“This morning, at breakfast with her new server, she had another one of her episodes right in front of him. He tried to help her at the beginning but then she grew out of hand to watch and to have to take care of so he quickly left the room to try and find help for her in the midst of her episode,” Vixen continued.
“So you mean to tell me that that door was left open during her episode?” Mrs. Cloud asked.
Vixen froze for a moment, temporary fear washing over him before he nodded his head. He wanted to lie so much, to say it wasn’t, to say it was left open before then, to simply say, ‘no.’ But he couldn’t, it was a blatant lie that wouldn’t fit into the situation no matter how one saw it.
“Ah..” Mrs. Cloud nodded.
Vixen flinched when she said nothing after. It was threatening in every way. The way she chose not to speak, that is. He knew for a fact that she was one to immediately throw insults or to belittle one’s self as soon as a foolish act is mentioned, but… why was she being quiet now? It was terrifying.
Vixen flinched and sat up straight, taking a sip out of his own tea. It was cold. He couldn’t tell if it was because it had been out for the longest time or simply because of the intense drops in temperature every time Mrs. Cloud was ticked off.
It was surprising. How the seat he sat on remained burningly hot while his entire surrounding was deep below zero. No… it was terrifying. It was those little details that made him question if he had walked into an office or hell instead.
“The server, ran through the halls looking for someone that was experienced enough to deal with her episode and to calm her down,” Vixen continued, ” at that same time, I happened to be done with my serving and was in the hallway with the one I was serving at that moment.”
Vixen took a sip of his tea. His voice was getting dry.
“There, he came to me and begged for my assistance at the scene of Regan’s episode to which I immediately came running to help,” Vixen recalled. “When we got there, she was laying on the ground like she was on the verge of life and death, her body twitching while lying lifelessly on the ground.”
“Hm,” Mrs. Cloud nodded. It was simply a curtsey. To show that she was listening and to pretend that her precious time wasn’t being wasted by the moment.
“I immediately ran in to help her as I had already seen a situation like that,” Vixen continued.
“You were well experienced with her episodes?” Mrs. Cloud asked.
“Not just hers, I have served a lot of people and have learned the right way to respond to certain situations in which the person I am serving may be in a lot of pain or may be suffering from an episode,” Vixen explained, “I have also seen one of her episodes before and helped her calm it down.”
“Oh really,” Mrs. Cloud asked.
“Hm,” Vixen nodded. He soon realized it was a sarcastic comment but nonetheless continued with his own explanation.
“I stayed with her to tend to her after her episode, which is why I took especially long before leaving the room, then-” Vixen explained.
“Doesn’t seem like you did just that,” Mrs. Cloud interrupted.
“Huh?” Vixen muttered.
“You mentioned being experienced with things like this. Well, I am not a novice to something like this either,” Mrs. Cloud smiled, “so I know that the time you should have tended her with and left after should be much shorter than the actual time that you spent in her room. You spent over an hour in there, there is no way that you spent all that time tending to that patient.”
Vixen flinched. There was nothing that passed under her eyes. She always caught everything whether large or small. It was annoying and yet another show of her dominance. It hurt, to sit in front of her in that hot seat.
“Correct,” Vixen nodded, “I tended to her in the first ⅓ of muy time being there and for the rest, I just sat by her side in case something like that were to happen again.”
“That’s something to be left to do by the presiding server,” Mrs. Cloud pointed out, “apparently you passed on that right to someone else so therefore you have no excuse to have stayed in her room for longer than you did.”
Vixen nearly clenched his jaw again. She was right, painfully right. He didn’t want to admit that she was but his head slowly nodded.
“The server that was looking over her wasn’t back from the rounds that he began and he once again, noted from earlier, is not someone that can face her episode especially after seeing it for the first time,” Vixen explained. He wanted to zip his mouth up. He had fallen straight into her plan. He had messed up his own self with that simple explanation and now she didn’t even have to point it out.
“I see….” Mrs. Cloud nodded her head.
Hmm,” Vixen nodded his head. ‘Why isn’t she commenting on the stuff I said yet? Why is she… leaving these gaps inside my explanation…?’ he thought to himself, his eyes widening when he realized what it was. ‘Ah… for the tension.’
Vixen immediately continued his explanation. He had seen through some of her plans, he didn’t want to be seen through about knowing that now. He also didn’t want to be caught up in the tension she was building. It would lead to his direct demise.
“I called him back after that hour or so to then take care of the girl,” Vixen continued, “my job there was done as I had calmed down the girl so now it was my turn to leave to go continue the other servings that I had to do for the rest of lunchtime.”
Mrs. Cloud made no comment but simply sipped her tea.
Vixen couldn’t tell which one was worse. The moments when she completely overpowered him and belittled him till he was reduced to practically nothing, or the moments when she sat in grim silence. It was in moments like that, that the most unexpected reactions appear. He didn’t want to be taken by surprise.
Especially not by her. Her surprises were mini surprise doses of hell in a room that was a hell of her own.
“I waited for him because I knew it was about time for him to get lunch for her and I also knew he would be unprepared for it as it seemed like he was shaken from the things that happened before,” Vixen explained. He nodded his head in front of Mrs. Cloud. “That’s about it.”
Mrs. Cloud smiled. “What a nice touching story,” She grinned, setting down her tea, “it was so sweet and explained so beautifully that I almost fell for it.”
Vixen trembled. No wonder she had been so quiet before this.
Hell was starting up again.
