Spiderweb - 132 Get Ou
“As I said it,” Mrs. Cloud repeated, “I don’t believe I was speaking another language.”
Vixen flinched, nodding his head.
“When you called in the new boy to help her after, how was his reaction then?” Mrs. Cloud asked, “you mentioned him cowering, was he ok then?”
Vixen nodded his head. “After a bit of interaction, he was ok with it.”
Mrs. Cloud nodded her head and smiled. “Thanks for the explanation-”
Vixen nodded. “You’re welcome-”
“Now if you’re done with that high tale, can you actually tell me what happened today?” Mrs. Cloud sighed.
Vixen froze at her comment. There it was. The moment where everything would reverse.
It will all come back at him five times harder than he sent it towards her.
“You wasted more than 10 minutes of my time to tell me an explanation that isn’t even complete,” Mrs. Cloud muttered, her fingers running against the rim of her cup, “I’ll give you one last try to fix this. Don’t make me regret it.”
He didn’t actually want to know. He was anxious beyond belief.
The seat was hot, his mind was scrambled and all he wanted was to leave. He looked up at the video, his eyes lowering to the door.
The exit was so far away.
Vixen looked up to Mrs. Cloud again, trying to fix his composure. There was no way he could make it out of this room without withering like a sunflower in winter but if he didn’t somehow fix the mindset that he had as of now, he wouldn’t be able to make it out of the room with even half of what he walked in with.
A part of him would have died again.
Just like it did the last time he met her in the halls and the time before in the same office.
He didn’t want to leave defeated like he did all the times before. It was childish, he knew. It was foolish of him to think he could even try to defeat something like her, it was outrageous for him to even think he could one-up the co-owner of a hell filled with sin.
It was childish but that was what he was in her eyes anyway. Nothing more than a little child that once ran through the winding halls that then grew to crawl through the crevices of her palace. He was a bug that was given the title of a prince.
He didn’t want to be just that anymore. He wanted her to feel what it was like to be under someone’s foot. Especially under the foot of someone who was once below them. Under the feet of someone they used to love and treasure.
He wanted her to feel how he felt every time he was placed in her presence.
It was easier to think than act, easier to envision and obsess over than to perform. Just like how it was for him to reject someone he had lovingly called mum for the past 22 years of his life. But… if she was able to throw him away, then why couldn’t he?
Mrs. Cloud smiled, amused at his sudden bravery.
“Your story has a lot of holes. Holes I’m sure you were aware of once you said them,” Mrs. Cloud smiled. “The first explanation was quite cute I have to admit. It completely explains the things I want to know while completely hiding your reason behind it. How cute,” Mrs. Cloud grinned, “but sadly, I’m tired of seeing cute these days. Try again.”
Vixen stayed with his eyes glued on hers. He knew she would have seen through it. It wasn’t some unachievable act anyway on her part, especially since she was known to tell lies prettier than the truth itself.
He should know. He fell prey to one of her lies. He was still prey to it.
“I admit that there were some parts missing from my explanation,” Vixen admitted, “I failed to mention them as I found them unrelenting to the issue at hand and would rather explain the things that are actually needed to solve the problem.”
Mrs. Cloud chuckled. “You seem to be mistaken.”
Vixen’s eyes remained pinned on her fearlessly. He didn’t want to look away. “Could you please explain the place I’ve gone wrong then?”
Mrs. Cloud smiled. “You seem to have forgotten who you are speaking to. I asked a question that needed a full detailed answer not a cropped answer filled with explanations that the person in question felt like it was useful to bring up.”
She set down her teacup and turned to Vixen, her eyes diving deep into his, “I’ll like you to get off your horse before I forcibly bring you down from it myself,” she grinned, “If I ask for something, you’re obligated to fully answer my question whether you think it is required of you or not. It’s simply the system of power. If you somehow wanted to escape it then fix your incompetence. Maybe then you can finally be worthy to climb one rank up your ladder.”
Vixen’s heart took a little stab. It hurt, like it was being ripped into pieces.
He still kept his eyes on hers. Even when they began to waver, even when it felt like she was overpowering him, he kept them open.
The room felt hot.
“My apologies ma’am, I will fill in the holes I missed,” Vixen nodded.
“Goo,” Mrs. Cloud chuckled, “go ahead.”
“Where exactly must I fill in the information ma’am,” Vixen asked.
“I’m sure you know of it yourself,” Mrs. Cloud shrugged looking up to the video. Her eyes swing down and lock eyes with Vixen’s, “surely you won’t need to me restate it for you right?”
Vixen simply blinked away her comment. “I would like some guidance just in case I am to miss the mark on the type of explanation ma’am wants,” Vixen pressed.
“Hmm,” Mrs. Cloud muttered. Vixen flinched when all emotion is wiped off her face and she stared down at him with blank, empty deep violet eyes. “How about we start by stopping whatever plan is going on in your head as of right now,” she replied, her face barely moving except for her talking lips. Like a stoic-faced mannequin, she peered into his eyes.
“If you have enough energy to think of getting under my skin with that kind of reply formation, then I’m sure you have enough to know what you have to say,” Mrs. Cloud muttered, her voice barely over a whisper. “You’re a Cloud member Vixen. You know better than that.”
Vixen froze. His entire body was unable to combat her words. He couldn’t blink them off, he couldn’t brush them off, he couldn’t even ignore the comment.
Their eyes were still locked onto each other, in the air was dead silence and Mrs. Cloud and Vixen remained in eye contact. The tension wrapped around Vixen like a snake, slowly stifling him and paralyzing him with a single strike.
His eyes hurt, they burned. They begged to be hidden away from the deep void they were being sucked into. They screamed.
They burned. It was too late to look away.
“Now…” Mrs. Cloud muttered, her face not moving an inch except for her talking lips. She looked up at the video and reached for the remote, shutting the video off. “My time has been wasted.”
Vixen shuddered.
Mrs. Cloud’s crossed legs unraveled and she stood up, creaks almost could be heard in her movement. Her head looked down at the watch on her wrist and she turns around immediately walking towards her desk.
“We’re ending this here,” Mrs. Cloud muttered as she walked towards her table. She bends down and presses a button on her desk.
A ding echoes through the room and into Vixen’s ears. He shuddered. It was a wake-up call. A ring that snapped him out of his frozen stance, it freed him from the paralyzation he had felt while being in the grasp of her eyes.
“Is this what you wanted?” Mrs. Cloud asked, her head snapping up from her desk and locked eyes with Vixen. Her eyes dug into his soul. “Is this what you wanted to come out of this? If so, congratulations.”
Vixen shivered again. There was something… so wrong with her gaze.
“The next time we meet, your explanation will be ready to give to me in full detail. There will be no missing parts, no silence, and no hesitation. You will spill forth all you held back today,” She commanded as her secretary walked into the room.
She exchanged glances with the secretary and the secretary trembled, rushing over to her side.
“Get out,” Mrs. Cloud ordered Vixen. “Get out of this room and remain out of my sight for the rest of the day. Climb on the walls if you wish. The moment I lay my eyes on you today, you will be dragged back to this room and there will be no exit waiting for you at that time.”
Vixen’s eyes were still on her. They were shaking.
“Am I made clear?” She repeated. Her eyes looking down on Vixen.
He nodded immediately and began his way out of the room.
“Oh and,” Mrs. Cloud called out.
Vixen froze in his steps and turned sound to look at her. “Yes ma’am?”
Mrs. Cloud’s head tilted to the side and she smiled. “Don’t forget your place, Vixen Cloud. At the end of the day, this is your home. Don’t let these walls become strangers.”
