Spiderweb - 139 Dangerous
Mrs. Cloud looked back at him, her eyebrow raising. “Are you suggesting that I do not understand the reason for my very own action, or that I’ll regret these steps I’ve taken today?”
Mr. Cloud didn’t utter a word, but his face was all the answers she needed to see.
“Ah… I see,” she muttered, eyes peering down at him. “You’re desperate.”
Mr. Cloud’s head raises immediately and he locks eyes with his wife. She doesn’t blink. She isn’t surprised, she isn’t flustered, she’s not even sad. There was not a grain of emotions that would show that she could possibly regret the situation later.
He stared at her with wide eyes as both his large eyes grip her shoulder. There was still nothing even.
“Now can you see?” Mrs. Cloud asked, looked down as Mr. Cloud slumped down to a squatting position on the ground, “the difference between us?”
Mr. Cloud didn’t react.
“I don’t question my thoughts, actions, or the way I react to things. What I do, is what I want. What I get rid of, is what I hate. What I protect is what I love,” Mrs. Cloud muttered as she squatted down to his level. “I’ve always been a simple mind, it’s just that I love holding high topics in my heart.”
Mr. Cloud let out a long sigh. “I can never understand, no matter how much you explain,” he smiled painfully, ignoring the teardrops forming at the edge of his eyes. “It always looks like you’re on the opposing team. Like you’re always after me, or want to reduce me to hell.”
Mrs. Cloud looked down at him blankly. In her eyes was a deep sense of disgust when she noticed the teardrops in his eyes. It was revolting.
She stood up from her position on the ground and peered down at him. “That’s because I always am,” she replied.
“What?”
“That is the promise I made to myself. To never trust you,” Mrs. Cloud explained, “I didn’t even get to count how many times you lied to me. I didn’t count how many times you lied to Vixen, the company, and couldn’t count how many times you lied to yourself.” Her head tilted to the ground as she looked down at him. “You expect me to trust someone like that?”
Mr. Cloud’s face stared up at Mrs. Cloud as a teardrop ran down his face. He looked heartbroken.
“I can never bring myself to trust you the same amount I used to. Every time you lied, every time you killed, every time you would go on your ‘business’ trips to killing manic spurs, a part of me died. You should know very well that there’s only a certain bit that someone can take before breaking apart,” Mrs. Cloud smiled, her eyes locking with his. They glowed in anger. “My cup overflowed like a hammer had rammed into its side and it stayed broken, always overflowing, always full. There is no space for anything more and to do that I have to keep on releasing consistent flows of something in me to stay sane.”
“This is your fault love,” Mrs. Cloud chuckled, squatting down to his level. She locked eyes with him and lifted up his head with a finger underneath his chin. “If there’s any reason to my insanity, anything reason to how broken I am, how much I want to cry but can’t, how much I was to laugh but I can’t. How much I want to kill you but can’t.”
Mr. Cloud flinched as he looked into her eyes. There was not a cent of regret in her eyes as she said those words. She meant it.
A smile formed on her face as she tilted his head to the side. “It’s your fault. How broken I am, how well I treat myself, and badly everyone else here. How I react to Vixen now because I don’t know how else to face him. It’s all your fault,” she chuckled, white teeth showing. It was more of a condescending smirk than a smile. “It was all your love that caused this mess.”
Mr. Cloud trembled, unsure of how to answer. He quivered, ‘was this really all my fault?’ he thought to himself. ‘I caused this? I drove her off the edge?’ He peered up into her eyes. There was not a notion of hesitancy or lies in them. ‘Ye… it was me. It couldn’t be anyone else.’
“I see how you love people now,” Mrs. Cloud chuckled as she turned his head left and right using her index finger under his chin. “So with that, why don’t I try to love you back?”
Mr. Cloud flinched, a shiver running down his spine as he caught a whiff of the emotion in her eyes as she said that sentence. It was killing intent.
She pulled in close to his face, her smile diminishing to a thin line as she stared into his eyes. “Robert. The one who brought me down here to the hell where he lived, the one who let me get a taste of how it was to rule hell and dominate. The one who ruined me,” she muttered, her eyes dimming. “Robert. I love you.”
Without a moment of hesitation, she leaned in and kissed him. Her lips pressing into his and resting there for a moment.
His eyes were frozen as he felt her lips on his. A matte lipstick that he never knew he would feel again. Slowly her eyes open, long eyelashes fluttering open and his heart dropped to the ground when he gazed into her eyes. They were blank.
She pulled away and peered into his eyes, her tongue running over her lips. “You bastard,” she grinned, clenching her jaw at the same time as she smiled.
That was the final strike, the final throw, the final roll before knocking over the final pin.
It was an announcement of war.
Her hands ran down the rough, rugged, handsome features of his face and she smiled. “You fucking bastard.”
She shoved him away and stood up, brushing her outfit of some dirt she might have gained on her position on the ground.
Mr. Cloud fell to the ground limply as tears fell down his face. He didn’t know how to react anymore. He didn’t want to react. He didn’t want to see.
She looked down at him, not a grain of sympathy in her eyes. It was amusement, an overflowing rush of amusement as she looked down on him.
A soft chuckle left her lips as she turns around and walks to the exit of the room, Mr. Cloud laying silently on the ground. She turns around one more time and looks down at him, pouting her lips in annoyance at his pitiful pose.
“Now you know what it’s like to be loved,” she muttered as she pulled open the door and stepped outside. “By your kind of love that is.”
She looked down at him from her position outside of the room. “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you get lots of love.”
Mr. Cloud didn’t reply. He didn’t know how to. He didn’t want to. He felt numb.
“Have fun receiving it,” Mrs. Cloud grinned, pulling the door. Only two words were heard last before she left the room. “Fucking psychopath.”
It was the last ones that were heard and that she said before turning around and walking away, her clicks echoing down the hallway. Mr. Cloud’s ears picked up on it all. It was so stable, not a falter in her steps. Everything she had said was her truth, one that she would be feeding into him until he became like her.
‘But yet…’ Mr. Cloud thought to himself as he laid on the ground, his eyes staring at the door she had left from before traveling to the ceiling. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath in. Her perfume was still in the room. He touched his lips slightly. Her kiss still lingered on his lips.
Everything felt dead. Everything in the room was chilled to zero by her words, she had pierced through everything in his heart but yet he could still feel her in the room. He still wanted to see her in the room.
‘But yet…’ he thought to himself, a broken laugh leaving his mouth, ‘Why is my heart pounding like this?’
He chuckled painfully as a tear ran down his face. ‘This sucks,’ he thought to himself. ‘How she can still string me to the strands of her hair, how she can still drag me to hell, how she can still stare at me with that disgust in her eyes. It’s so unfair… how she can still hate me, but lead me on at the same time.’
“Why can’t I just hate you?” he muttered, “why can’t I just be hurt and hate you?” a disheartened chuckle leaves his lips. “Why do you have to make me keep loving you, when I know you can’t return the stare I give you.”
The last teardrop ran down his eyes and he frowned, his lips quivering as he still felt her touch on his face and lips. “I hate you,” he mumbled, “I hate you, you fucking beauty.”
He was broken but somehow all he could think of was her. He wanted to say he regretted falling for her, all her pictures flashing in his head as he stared up at the ceiling. He wanted to say he would throw away her memories. But that would be a lie. One he wouldn’t even be able to say.
He still loved her. She knew that. She knew how much he wanted to stay by her side. “That’s why she can reduce me to the mess that I am now,” he chuckled, sitting up. “You know much I love you don’t you, you mastermind.”
He ruffled his hair, a smile lingering on his face as he remembered the taste on his lips when they kissed. “What a dangerous woman.”
