Spiderweb - 158 Stare
“Only for this idiot you mean. I would have long since turned around and stared straight at you,” Ryder shrugged.
“Oml shut up, you can’t be thinking like that in a situation like this! Do you not have a single filter???” Antonin scolded, “I swear only you would be thinking of doing that.”
Ryder shrugged. “Me and most other men out there, you’re one of the tiny percentages of men who would literally be on the ground begging for forgiveness simply because he accidentally turned around and took a look at someone who was undressed. And it wasn’t even like you looked on purpose or that you looked long enough to see literally anything,” Ryder rolled his eyes, “admit it, you just like apologizing.”
“At least I know when it’s needed,” Antonin snapped at Ryder. “Instead of just going around going things that aren’t acceptable and mindlessly committing actions that deserve apologies and not giving them at all.”
“Yea, yea,” Ryder rolled his eyes at Antonin. “Sure Mr. Gentleman.”
Antonin sighed. “Please don’t listen to him Regan, what we did was unsighl-”
“What WE did? Don’t drag me into this,” Ryder snapped.
“I meant, what I did was unsightly,” Antonin chuckled nervously.
Regan stared at Antonin for a moment before laughing. She turned around and quickly closed the bathroom door. She didn’t need him to see the mess on the ground.
“Stay there all you want then, who am to tell you what to do, after all?” Regan grinned, her lips quivering a bit. She made her way to her wardrobe and pulled open its door, staring at the clothes inside. She picked out a shirt and pants. It didn’t matter what she chose afterall, they all looked the same.
She pulled the shirt off its hanger and was about to put it on when she reached inside her wardrobe and grabbed a bra. Then she put it on and pulled the shirt over her head. She reached into her wardrobe for underwear and put that on before slipping on her baggy pants. It was warm. She smiled.
“You can look up now,” she chuckled, turning to Antonin.
“Are you sure?” Antonin asked. “I’d hate to turn around and you wouldn’t be”
“Omg turn around! The lady said turn the fuck around!” Ryder scolded, pulling himself off the ground and looking at Regan. “See, absolutely nothing is wrong with her-”
He went silent when his eyes observed her. A blush spread over his face.
“Oh.. she does.. Why are you-” Antonin asked, his eyes looking up at Regan. His words shut immediately as he laid eyes on her.
Regan looked at them for a moment, annoyance showing on her face as she approached them. “What is it? You’re looking at me like I have some plague…” she muttered, walking towards Antonin and stopping in front of him. Her eyebrow raised, “Is there something on my face?”
Regan’s eyes glowed in fear for a moment as her hands reached up to her face, quickly touching it to feel for any scars. Her hands trembled. ‘I can’t feel anything… WHY CAN’T I FEEL ANYTHING?!’
Panic rose to her throat as her heart thumped harder. “What is it..?” her voice trembled.
Ryder turned to her, blushing a bit when his eyes locked with hers. Regan trembled in fear. “He’s just trying to say that… you look nice.”
Regan’s legs gave out and she fell to the ground, her heart falling to the ground with her. She let out a shaky breath as she looked up at him. “What..?”
Ryder bent down immediately, reaching for her shoulders and grabbing them quickly. “Are you ok? Why did you fall? Do you feel uncomfortable? Unwell? Are you sick?” he asked, his pupils shaking in concern. “What happened?”
Regan brushed off his hands. Looking up to him with strong eyes. “I asked, what?”
Ryder flinched, electricity running through him when he locked eyes with her. He sucked in his breath. “H-he meant to say that you looked cute…” he muttered again, his eyes looking away from her. “The way you looked with the oversized shirt… And pants… you looked cute.”
Regan’s shoulders fell and a deep sigh floated out of her mouth. “Ah…” she muttered, as her body fell backward.
Ryder immediately leaned forward and caught her before her head hit the ground. “Seriously, what is it?! You keep scaring me when you give out like that!”
Regan chuckled lightly, her voice wavering a bit. “Nothing… I just feel a little bit weak that is, maybe I’m too hungry,” she replied, her voice lighter than before. “Don’t worry about it, I’m fine.”
Ryder stared at her for a moment, his eyes running over her body nervously. There didn’t seem to be a scratch on it. Nothing but just, clear skin. It was a bit comforting to see that she was ok but not that comforting to remember that she had almost fainted moments earlier.
He slipped one hand under her head and the other under her legs and hoisted her up. Carefully he carried her to her bed with steady steps, making sure to look at where he was walking. He had steady steps. She was comforted.
Her eyes slowly close in his arms and she smiles ever so weakly. “I thought you said I was too heavy for you to carry?” she teased, her head pressing into his chest.
Ryder blushed immediately. “I didn’t say that, Antonin did. He’s a bit weak as you can tell.”
Regan nodded her head, her wet hair letting water seep into Ryder’s shirt.
Ryder closed his eyes and took in a deep breath, trying this best not to blush. “I swear you are such a dangerous girl…” he muttered under his breath as he laid her down carefully on her bed
Regan chuckled, hearing his comment. “I’m dangerous? In what way?” she asked daringly.
Ryder flinched, letting out a deep sigh of frustration. “You’re doing all the things that puts me on edge. Are you aware of who you’re in this room with? Alone??” He asked. “Aren’t you scared? Wondering if I’ll do something to you?”
Regan grinned, light laughter escaping, “Really now?” she teased, “it’s not like you haven’t done anything to me before so why would this be any different?”
Ryder twitched, turning away from her completely, his eyes avoiding her gaze from her bed. He sat down on the bed limply and put his head in his hands. “Why do you have to make things so damned difficult?” He asked, “you know that’s not the right answer to give in this situation.”
“And if I do?” Regan chuckled, “what are you going to do about it?”
Ryder flinched, his eyes turning to Regan’s immediately, leaning over her, his hands pressing into the bed beside both sides of her head before she could even blink. “Hey… stop testing your luck. I’m not Antonin, my restraint is much lower than you think it is.”
Regan smiled mockingly. “The limit I thought you had, has long been stretched. You’re doing as well as Antonin would have done.”
Ryder snapped. Leaning forward immediately and kissing Regan. “Shut up.”
Regan’s lips pressed into a thin line and she remained silent, her eyes being pulled into Ryder’s. They stayed in that position for a few moments. Ryder staring down Regan with piercing eyes, watching her so curiously, his eyes running over every feature on her face before resting on her lips.
He leaned away from her and buried his head in his hands again. “Damn it… why do you listen so well…” he muttered, his voice trembling. He slid off the bed, hoping the distance between him and Regan would settle the emotions building up in him.
It didn’t.
He groaned, looking up to the ceiling. “It’s not like if I ask you out you would say yes either,” he muttered in frustration.
Regan flinched, her head turning to him immediately. “You don’t know until you try.”
Ryder turned around, his head resting on the bed for a moment as Regan’s face drew closer. He leans in again and kisses her, a smile forming on his face when they locked eyes. “I know you won’t.”
Regan grinned, her shoulders shrugging as she stared into Ryder’s eyes. “Sure then.”
“I have a question though,” Ryder asked to which Regan raised her eyebrow curiously.
“What is it?” she asked.
“What is it that’s on your mind?” Ryder asked, his hand raising up and laying on her hair.
Regan paused, flinching when the question sunk into her. One eye closed in reflex when his hands laid on her head. She froze, her face heated up but at the same time, she stood frozen in confusion of how to answer his question. She was confused, swept up in the moment.
“What do you mean?” she asked, trying to skip over his words lightly.
His eyebrow raised curiously and his eyes narrowed. It didn’t work.
