Splitting the Heavens - Chapter 1082: Inspiration Strikes Again
“From the looks of it, Tong Yutang really attaches heavy importance to the Formation Talisman…!” Shang Xia thought to himself.
Ordinarily speaking, when one invites a Talisman Grandmaster to craft a new talisman, they would need to provide 5 talisman papers at the very start due to their difficulty level. However, after they succeeded, they would return to the usual rate of 3 sheets of talisman paper for a completed talisman.
The secret inheritance was something Shang Xia was attempting for the first time, and he wasn’t surprised that he was provided 5 sheets of rank six talisman paper at the start.
Since he succeeded, Shang Xia felt that Zhou Mingdao should have returned to the original rate. However, he was still provided with 5 sheets of rank six talisman paper and unless Tong Yutang placed great importance on those talismans, it would mean that Zhou Mingdao was intentionally trying to please him.
Shang Xia naturally leaned towards the former possibility. After all, even though they were merely talisman paper, rank six talisman paper was of extremely high value. Even if Zhou Mingdao was the Deputy Pavilion Master, he wouldn’t be able to easily give Shang Xia extra just because he wanted to.
Naturally, he wouldn’t reject treasures that had been delivered to his doorstep. Not to mention the fact that the secret inheritance Tong Yutang provided already had its flaws. The talisman could only be completed after Shang Xia’s restoration.
Just that point alone would make Tong Yutang owe Shang Xia a huge favor.
What Shang Xia didn’t know was that because of his achievement in restoring the secret inheritance, Tong Yutang owed him a lot more than he thought.
Shang Xia did the same as before as he took 3 days to adjust his mental state before starting a new attempt.
Because he already completed 2 talismans and had 7 sheets of rank six talisman papers in hand, Shang Xia felt his hand itch. Feeling himself, he used an entire month to complete 2 rank six Formation Talismans from the secret inheritance. He made 6 attempts in order to do so and he had another rank six talisman paper left over.
Generally speaking, completing 2 talismans in 6 attempts was a general hallmark of a rank six Talisman grandmaster.
Shang Xia understood that the Formation Talisman wasn’t as complicated as his Six Harmony Teleportation Talisman, but what he didn’t know was that either of those talismans were of higher than average difficulty among tank six talismans.
After handing the 2 completed talismans to Zhou Mingdao, Shang Xia didn’t keep the rank six talisman paper in the chamber and he simply ran off to Star Origin City.
In one of the lectures held by a famous expert, Shang Xia sat close to Feng Ziying after concealing his identity. Both of them sat in an inconspicuous corner.
“Feng Ziyuan already entered the Martial Void Realm. According to some rumors I heard, she’s still in seclusion to consolidate her foundations but she will probably emerge soon to take control of the Fourth Camp.” Feng Ziying revealed extremely important insider news from the Star Origin Guards the second they started to communicate.
Shang Xia pretended to be listening to the lecture while transmitting his voice over, “Feng Ziyuan, Feng Ziying… Heh, you didn’t skimp out on borrowing other people’s identities when entering the Star Origin Guards! I’m afraid she’s going to set her sights on your annoying ass after she emerges from seclusion.”
Feng Ziying didn’t seem bothered as he replied, “There are no problems with my identity. If she wants to look into it, that would be great! After all, that would mean that I have successfully attracted her attention.”
Shang Xia couldn’t help but shoot him a glare despite both of them trying to hide the fact that they knew each other. “That doesn’t sound like a bad thing, but when you put it that way, you make it sound really vulgar, you asshole.”
“Really? You must be mistaken.” Feng Ziying sneered.
“…”
Only after a moment did Feng Ziying cough softly and continue, “Anyway, let’s talk seriously now. After you reminded me to keep an eye on Seventh Camp Commander Xing Xingtian, I actually managed to discover something.”
“What?” Shang Xia asked with his gaze fixed on the person speaking about cultivation.
“Hehe… You told me to look into the last time the Star Ship went out on patrol, right?” Feng Ziying decided to play around a bit and build the suspense.
Nodding, Shang Xia continued, “I also remember that you said that it was really possible for the True Immortal on board to be Tong Yutang!”
Slapping his thigh all of a sudden as though in reaction to the lecture, Feng Ziying yelled back in his voice transmission, “Exactly! Moreover, the experts in charge of the Star Ships were from the Seventh Camp!”
Shang Xia gasped and turned in shock, only to see Feng Ziying nodding slightly in his direction.
Soon after, Feng Ziying continued, “That’s not all. Around 2 months ago, the Star Ship that belonged to the Seventh Camp went out for patrol once again. Moreover, it was the same ship we had been looking for and the people on board looked to be the same…”
“Hmm…” Shang Xia thought for a moment and mumbled, “Do you suspect…”
“Have you seen Tong Yutang recently?” Feng Ziying asked.
Slightly taken aback, Shang Xia eventually shook his head. “Zhou Mingdao said that he was in seclusion and I didn’t see him even after completing the talismans this time and last.”
“Hehe…” Feng Ziying chuckled softly, “Looks like the possibility of Tong Yutang being the person Kou Chongxue saw back then is getting larger… I’m getting more interested in the Pavilion Master of the Starry Pavilion!”
Before Shang Xia could say anything, he continued again, “Say… If I was a third tier True Immortal like Tong Yutang and news of my collusion with the Seventh Camp to break through to the fourth tier started to spread through the Star Origin Guards… What do you think will happen?”
Shang Xia couldn’t be bothered to entertain the shit stirrer and snapped, “This is something related to the Star Origin City and I wouldn’t know what will happen for sure. However, I do know that they will definitely hunt down the origin of the rumors. When that happens, you won’t be able to escape.”
“How can I make such basic mistakes and get caught for something like this?” Feng Ziying snorted in response.
Eventually, Shang Xia’s sigh came. “At the end of the day, we don’t have concrete evidence. Not to mention that even if it’s real, what good can it do for us?”
…
Eventually, Shang Xia returned to the Starry Pavilion after he was done. When he entered the chamber on the seventh floor, he saw 10 new sheets of rank six talisman paper waiting for him. He couldn’t help but lament at how rich the Starry Pavilion was. With the last remaining sheet back then, he had a total of 11 sheets of rank six talisman papers waiting for him.
Laughing softly to himself, Shang Xia quickly adjusted his condition and prepared to craft Formation Talismans.
Failing on his first attempt, Shang Xia managed to craft the fifth rank six Formation Talisman on his second try.
Perhaps it had something to do with how he had been crafting the same talismans over and over, or it might have something to do with his concentration… In fact, there might be other factors at play and after he completed the fifth talisman, he felt a surge of inspiration.
Without hesitation, Shang Xia didn’t even stop to restore his energy as he continued crafting talismans.
Very quickly, his seventeenth attempt was also a success and he completed 6 of the requested 7 talismans.
However, Shang Xia didn’t stop to rest either. On his eighteenth attempt, he nearly completed the last talisman but because of a small mistake, it went to waste.
Fortunately, Shang Xia still managed to keep himself in his special state and the failure didn’t affect him much. He quickly succeeded on his last attempt.
With 19 attempts in total, Shang Xia crafted 7 rank six Formation Talismans as requested of him! Of the 11 sheets of rank six talisman paper, he had 6 left!
Shang Xia didn’t hesitate and grabbed another sheet to begin crafting again. With the divine brush in hand, he decided to make the other rank six talisman he knew, the Six Harmony Teleportation Talisman!
He failed on his first try but succeeded on the next.
His third attempt also ended in failure, but he succeeded twice in a row after that!
It was a shame he failed on his last try, but he no longer had any rank six talisman paper on him.
Regretfully placing the brush down, he could tell that his state of enlightenment had long since disappeared.
With 6 sheets of rank six talisman paper, Shang Xia completed 3 Six Harmony Teleportation Talismans! It was a terrifying achievement of a 50 percent success rate!
