SSS-Class Summoner - Chapter 12
A transport helicopter was flying over Seoul.
On the side of the helicopter was the logo AEGIS.
It was the logo of Aegis, the world’s leading awakening company.
And there were three awakens in it.
Each had a white transceiver in one ear and sat in a black coat, two men and a woman.
Everyone was famous enough to have fewer people in the world.
“The 11-minute semi-surprise gate. Plus, it’s a B3 rating, and as soon as I’ve gone on vacation, things start happening one after another.”
Seok Pil-jun said while looking at the scenery of Seoul outside the helicopter.
He was a neat-looking man with a chunky height but had a unique feature due to his slightly protruding eyes and dark circles.
His tone was somewhat tired.
While returning from his mission, he suddenly heard an emergency request from the government saying it was near the air.
“It can’t be helped. Take a break before the next cycle comes, and the team is running out of space for two vacations. I mean, two team leaders, but one team member?”
Lee Su-yeon, the leader of Aegis A team, grumbled.
Twenty-nine-year-old she was one of the 13 veterans who was awakened.
The dark black hair released in a strikingly beautiful appearance awakened and was quite long.
“Then, where did Chief Jeong go?”
“E Team is out. A5 class gate came out in the Middle East. It will be activated there soon.”
Lee Soo-yeon said while looking down at the watch tied to her wrist.
Her team’s gate also had only four minutes to activate.
“Ghost, are you sleeping? It’s coming soon. “
She crossed her legs across the seat and touched the sleeping man’s leg.
But the man replied without moving.
“Don’t you see that I’m keeping my eyes open right now?”
“I had to know if you’re alive because of the mask.”
A man called Ghost, not his real name, was wearing a black balaclava with a white skull on his face.
The only part of the eye that was open was covered with dark sunglasses, so no part was exposed on the face.
“I arrive in 1 minute!”
The pilot in the front seat spoke to the awakens.
“Have you heard? Prepare everyone. Remember what the analysis team told us, this gate is very fast at generating monsters.”
Lee Soo-yeon reminded the team members.
It was a very secure gate, but there were already police officers in the vicinity, and most of the malls had been evacuated.
She didn’t have to worry about the problem.
All three awakens, including her, relaxed and held their arms.
In the meantime, Seok Pil-jun asked the team leader a question.
“By the way, aren’t we going to go back to being four?”
“No, even if I can’t, I need to fill one more. I don’t want to pull it out of another team … Who should I look for?”
* * *
Il-hyun’s face suddenly turned sharp. He came to the scene in a short time, with the help of a short ride on the back of the hawk.
It wasn’t too late.
“Well?”
To find a suitable place to drop off, Il-hyun, looking down, found something strange.
“Why are you controlling so wide?”
The radius of several kilometers was controlled around the site where the gate was opened.
If you don’t know the outskirts, it was a busy area with lots of buildings, and there was a lot of traffic to and from it.
The response to the gate of D4 level was excessive.
“Although it’s good for me,”
It was easy to operate as it was widely controlled, and it was good to get unnoticed by people.
When Il-hyun pointed at a building with his finger, he turned the tie.
The hawk that picked up Il-hyun turned back to a translucent color and lowered the altitude to descend on the roof of a building.
As soon as he got off the falcon’s back, he quickly dismissed it.
Then, as the fog disappeared, the shapes scattered and disappeared.
Il-hyun lowered his posture and approached the edge of the roof.
The building on which he stood was the tallest building on the site so that he could look over the area.
“Ah… what is this?”
Looking down closely, he realized that something was wrong.
All of the monsters were already dead, and only three awakened men stood over the corpses.
The gate that spat out all the monsters shook for a moment and then closed and disappeared.
“It hasn’t been up to 15 minutes yet?”
Il-hyun hurriedly took out his cell phone.
Once he dropped an object, a large accident was almost apparent, so he tried not to put his hand in his pocket during flight.
However, in the meantime, the grade of the gate has skyrocketed from D4 to B3.
“It’s so different! Besides, suddenly Aegis…”
He didn’t care if it was a little late until he had already sorted it out.
It was unavoidable to strike out occasionally because he wasn’t acting exactly as the disaster watchdog had contacted him.
But the problem was the identity of the awakened.
The government response team, Aegis, and another one of them was caught.
He recognized the faces they’d known themselves. Like celebrities, he often saw on TV.
“Was it Ghost, because I see him wearing a strange mask, and that concept was still the same?”
Il-hyun concentrated and observed the people seen below.
The first thing that stood out was Ghost.
He was famous for his A-class Awakening but was also well known for his overturned mask.
His name was also named after his instincts and concealed his full name, covering his face completely.
No one except his teammates knows his face and identity.
It was a material that attracted the public’s attention.
They were other people that also caught Il-hyun’s attention.
“The face is Seok Pil-jun. Oh my God, Lee Soo-yeon is also here.”
Lee Soo-yeon was the co-team leader of Team A, one of Aegis’s signs.
As an A-class awakener, he was one of the greatest in the world.
His friend Byeong-cheol Lee was also an avid fan of Lee Soo-yeon.
He would have asked for a signature if they had met elsewhere, but now he was not happy.
“Should I run away now? Or do I have to stay quiet and get out?”
He couldn’t make an easy decision because he thought he might get caught if he moved quickly.
Il-hyun also listened only in words. A or B ranks of the awakened people did not really know how much level.
But he knew for sure that it would be difficult to get out of the way when he was caught.
A monster with blue horns more than 4 meters long that looks strong.
He could see only a few B-rank ace monsters being torn on the floor.
Awakens of Aegis were talking among themselves, laying monster bodies on all sides.
Meanwhile, three people turned at the same time.
Exactly where he was.
Il-hyun and their gaze met.
“Suction!”
A startled Il-hyun took a breath and stepped back.
“You never noticed me on this street?”
Even the awakened people felt it was too much.
He never looked down again.
It was all two people just staring in that direction.
The other, Ghost, disappeared.
Then, an object appeared suddenly and was blindfolded.
“Who are you?”
“Oh!
As the face of the person wearing a mask flipped out of the rooftop, Il-hyun was surprised and stepped back.
The man who appeared suddenly had his body pass through the wall and climbed up to the shoulders.
Ghost shook his head to one side and asked again.
“What are you doing?”
“Ah… I think I was on the wrong track while evacuating.”
The frightened Il-hyun made excuses that could not be worn while wearing a protective coat.
Then, Ghost went through the floor and materialized.
His translucent body returned to the original distinctive color.
“I’ve been doing this for years, but the degree of awakening is blindfolded. There is one guess…”
For a moment, the man, who was overcast, suddenly grabbed one of Il-hyun’s arms.
Reflectively, Il-hyun tried to shake his arm, but both of the bodies became blurred this same moment.
As he looked at Il-hyun’s eyes with his eyes wide open looking at himself, Ghost laughed cheerfully and pulled him down.
“haha! Let’s go together!”
“What is this…!”
Il-hyun and Ghost’s bodies disappeared, and they were sucked under the building.
He couldn’t even scream out of his mouth.
As he continued to go down the floor, he felt dizzy as if the world was spinning.
When about three stories remained on the ground, Il-hyun rolled out of the building and rolled unto the floor.
“Collocolocolo!”
Il-hyun was incapable of enduring his first experience.
Meanwhile, Lee Soo-yeon and Seok Pil-jun were walking in front, and Ghost came from behind the building.
Surrounded by three awakened people wearing black coats, Il-hyun gave out a muffled sigh.
“Ha, I think it’s wrong to run away properly.”
“I didn’t know that the Scavenger who I had only heard from rumors would come to us.”
Lee Soo-yeon, who came forward, said, flipping her flowing hair backward.
It was quite improbable that the awakened people would be invaded in their own field.
She stared at him with a curious look, as if she were just curious.
She seemed to have never expected a Scavenger to come to them.
It was natural for Il-hyun to come to the courtyard, which was unexpected.
“Well, Scavenger.”
Il-hyun paused while talking.
At first glance, they seemed to be convinced that he was a scavenger.
They weren’t an easy opponent to cheat on, and Il-hyun thought it would be useless if he did, decided to go out honestly.
“Sorry. I came to the wrong place without knowing that I was transferred to another place in the middle. I’m going to go quietly without interruption, so let’s continue doing what we were doing.”
It was his fault that he entered the scene on his own, so he bent down and went in.
She suspected that Il-hyun was trying to end the conversation no matter what. But she asked instead.
“Where do you belong to?”
“Yeah…? No, nothing.”
“How long have you been awakened?”
“It must have been about two weeks.”
The woman continued to speak, Il-hyun replied moderately, and scanned her around.
He was looking for a runway while thinking about getting out.
He was expecting a slight gap.
“2 weeks? It’s not a good time to get used to being a scavenger.”
“What are you doing?”
“Stay still.”
Seok Pil-jun did not hold the man in front of him but stared at the team leader in conversation.
But she continued the conversation as if it were interesting.
“If you have the ability to turn your face into a free material, even if you are not an awakening company, you might be a talented person looking for information in a place like an information agency… Did you deliberately not belong?”
“I can’t tell you that.”
“Hmm.”
Lee Soo-yeon touched her mouth.
“So why can’t I tell you why I started working for Scavenger?”
“What… right.”
She had been curious about his story, as she had already learned in detail from her acquaintances that Scavengers, who had recently become a hot topic, has taken the lead in the rescue of citizens in every field he goes to.
But when the man didn’t seem to answer anymore, he deemed it a pity.
“I don’t like to stand up and play, though. How many flies are twisted in foreign countries… Scavengers has no good feelings.”
Even if he has heard a story about the people in front of him, the fact that he intercepted a monster in another’s territory has not changed.
Scavenger was Scavenger and even saying that he didn’t actually know it wasn’t sincere.
There were also scavengers aiming for hot water, taking risks, and tackling high-ranking ether cores.
There was no reason to let them go.
“I’m going to lead the police outside, so don’t blush each other, are we clear?”
He said it to be clear, but it sounded to be calm.
It was rather generous in situations where the difference in power was obvious.
However, Il-hyun had no intention of being quietly caught.
He started running in the direction he had seen.
Lee Soo-yeon sighed at his actions and glanced.
Then Ghost moved.
