- Chapter 86: Something is Off About This Fantasy World (2)
“Here.” A brazen coin popped into the girl’s hand.
“Go buy yourself 10 buns.” The girl flicked the coin towards Jeff.
Ting~
Jeff flicked the flying coin back to the girl.
“Tsss…” Jeff squinted a little. ‘This brat… is seriously getting annoying…’
“Do I look like a beggar to you?” Jeff grumbled and prepared to walk away.
However, looking around, he was surrounded by a small crowd now? Species big and small. They were all looking at Jeff with an entertained look. Some were even subtly pointing at Jeff. Some were chatting with each other.
“Tsk. Tsk. Since when were adventurers this frugal?” An elf whispered.
“So poor yet so hopeful.” The other elf shook her head.
“I bet he won’t even make it through day one. Now with that joke of an outfit on him.” A dwarf chuckled.
“If you choose to die early, at least enjoy yourself man!” A beastman shouted.
Jeff: …
Behind Jeff, the girl giggled.
“But aren’t you a beggar?” The girl asked back with a naive voice.
Jeff felt a vein popping on his forehead. Tightening his fists a little, Jeff let go.
Jeff looked down. He was wearing three cheap and useless equipments. Jeff felt like he’s a joke himself.
However, unlike the residents born here, he’d only been here for three years. Unlike these ‘established’ residents, he had inherited no wealth, no connections, and no guidance in training.
Looking around at the mocking gazes, Jeff tightened his fists.
“Sure. I have no money at the moment.” Jeff sighed.
“Sure. You can look down on me right now.” Jeff chuckled at himself.
“But one day.” Jeff pointed at himself with his thumb. “One day, I’ll become a big shot in this city!”
Jeff turned around and looked at the vendor girl. “One day. I’ll be rich enough to buy your entire stock, and feed them to beggars, and I’ll feel comfortable with this purchase!”
“Tsk. Sure.” The girl shook her head in disappointment.
“Whatever.” The girl left.
“Another dream chaser.” Someone in the crowd chuckled.
“Another guy who’d rather have money than stay alive.”
The watching crowd quickly dispersed.
Jeff took in a few more deep breaths. ‘These guys really have nothing else to do huh.’
Literally. Not a rant. These guys literally have nothing else to do in this abundant world. Got plenty of cheap food. Got the wealth built over generations. Don’t need to work much to be well off. A lot of the residents here roam around to seek thrill and entertainment.
They weren’t targeting Jeff. They’d do this to anyone ‘interesting’.
Yet, even knowing this, Jeff still felt like there’s a fire burning in his chest. ‘Just you people watch… I will certainly become wealthy… and that day won’t be far from now!’
Looking at the Adventurer’s Hall, Jeff felt more determined than ever. ‘I’m just tired of being poor. It’s time to change my lifestyle!’
“That’s the spirit!” Someone patted Jeff on the shoulder.
“You’ve only got one life. Don’t leave any regrets.” Without stopping, that guy brushed past Jeff.
“If you are hungry, go for it!” A vendor nodded at Jeff with a smile.
“Go chase after your dreams.” An older warrior walked by. “Good luck boy.”
“This is youth!” A father-son pair broke into tears and hugged each other.
Hearing these encouragements from total strangers, Jeff firmly nodded and smiled.
In this abundant world, there are plenty of friendly people as well.
Taking in a deep breath, Jeff headed towards the Adventurer’s Hall.
As someone who helps himself, and receives help from himself, Jeff Norman was confident about his journey.
‘I may look like a bottom ranking adventurer. However, those who judge me by my cloths…’ Jeff confidently smiled. ‘Will sure be in for a surprise!’
…
After a moment of walking, the stands and the mats came to an end. Brushing through some pedestrians, Jeff’s view finally opened up.
Behind Jeff, it’s the crowed and bustling market.
Ahead of Jeff, it’s a quiet and open courtyard. Across the courtyard, there’s Jeff’s destination.
Adventurer’s Hall. A Greek-temple like structure with the size of a mall. Sitting on a five-stories high platform. The entire structure looked like a marble hill. Any adventurer would look small and insignificant in front of this building.
After walking across the speckles court, Jeff came to a halt by the wide stairways.
Some sparse adventurers were quickly jumping up the stairs. In two or three hops, they’d make it up to the top. Others were hopping down the stairs with a satisfied smile. They looked eager to start another good day.
Looking up the stairs, Jeff took in a deep breath, fully enjoying the moment. ‘It’s been three years already huh…’
‘I’ve finally made it here.’ Jeff fixed his robe a little.
‘Open Interface.’
A transparent blue screen instantly popped up in Jeff’s view.

Yep. Jeff was supernatural-late tier now!
In the field of adventurers, more than 90% of these fellas were early-tiers. Mid-tiers were team leaders and upper managements already. The rare few late-tiers and peak-tiers were guild leaders.
In other words, in spite of Jeff’s poor outfits, he was standing at the peak of battle prowess already!
‘And if I toggle on all of my stacked abilities, my attributes could flip another 50 times. I’d probably be the strongest supernatural-tier here!’
‘Sure, I don’t have any good equipments. But I have a good stack of abilities!’ Jeff confidently smiled. ‘Apex peak-tiers? With good equipment? I doubt if they could stand a single of my serious punches.’
‘I can probably fight a sage-tier now.’ Jeff started walking up the stairs, one step at a time.
‘In other words, at my level, there’s little risks, if any, out there now.’
‘A little cautious. But it’s probably well worth it.’ Jeff fully enjoyed this moment.
‘I received all these abilities from myself in the mist world. I should probably return the favour by buying some active skills.’
