Stalker Husband - Chapter 15:DIANA
“I don’t really have an idea. I’ve never been in this part of the country before so I’m hoping you can be my tour guide.”
“No problem, Miss Diana. I’ll show you around town. I’ll make sure you’ll enjoy your time today.”
I smile and excitedly climb inside the car. After Desmond closes the door, I watch as he pulls his phone out and types on the screen before pocketing it again while pulling the door to the driver’s seat. He adjusts the rearview mirror and smiles at me when our gazes connect before he starts the engine.
“Miss Diana, do you like to go to an antique shop?”
“Hmm, I think I can give it a try.” I tell him indulgently although I’m not really into antiques.
“The shop in the city has more books than trinkets. I’m hoping you’ll like to collect some books.”
“Oh, books!” I blush and smile widely when I’m reminded of my mystery lover, my new model for the novels I’ll be reading. “Yes! Yes, of course. How did you know I love books?”
“You give off the vibe, Miss Diana.”
Although I’m pleased, I’m also a little disappointed. Do I look like a nerd to him? Someone that’s boring and naïve who lives in the fantasy world of Knights in shining armor and princess that needs rescuing?
“You have a sweet face and a pleasant aura around you that’s why I guessed that you must be romantically inclined. You don’t look like a nerd at all, Miss Diana.”
I’m surprised to hear Desmond’s words as if he can actually read my mind. My disappointment vanishes instantly and my smile widens until I feel like an idiot. Hmm, I don’t care. Even my day hasn’t started, I can already tell, I’ll be enjoying it thoroughly.
The drive only takes thirty minutes and we’re already approaching the bustling town center. Desmond pulls up at the parking lot of D&G Antique and Book Sale he told me about. He climbs out of the car to opens the door for me before I alighted out.
Desmond stays back once we’re inside the shop and doesn’t bother me anymore. I take my sweet time caressing, smelling and reviewing new and old books around the place and even appreciating some trinkets that really look interesting, especially the stories behind them and their origin and myths.
I round the corner and walk to another isle when I bump into someone’s solid frame. Some of my selected books drop to the floor but the person in front of me quickly picks them up and returns them over the piled books in my arms.
“Sorry about that.” He says and resumes walking towards the other isle.
I’m stunned but I quickly recover before turning around. “Hey, you! Wait up!”
“Yes?” He turns around, brows arching up as he waits for me to speak.
I can’t believe this. He’s definitely my mystery lover during my last night in the cruise ship. How can he not remember me anymore? I want to scratch his face all of a sudden. All this time while I’m daydreaming about him, he’s moved on so easily and forgotten about me?
“You don’t remember me anymore?” I ask him in suppressed agitation.
“Of course I do. You’re the drunk girl in the cruise ship from before who wants to take a suicide.”
Drunk girl? Suicide? Are all that what he only remembers about me? Did he hit his head and had an amnesia? I want to smack him right now, that way, he might be able to remember me. His eyes narrow in slits as he looks at me, seemingly reading my mind.
“Since you refused to exchange information, I’m assuming you want us to act strangers after that.”
“Assuming? Dont assume anything unless otherwise agreed.”
“You forced me to agree not to meet ever again though, yet here we are.”
“Yes, but…”
“I told you, we’re fated.” He smiles devilishly at me as he saunters back to where I stand. “So if I’m going to ask you out, will you come with me?”
“Ye…” I stop and flinch. “I don’t think that’s possible. I came with someone today.” He arches a brow at me. “My driver.” I quickly add to clear up any unnecessary misunderstanding.
“Leave it to me. We can easily ditch him.” He takes the books from my arms and rings them in the counter, pays them himself before dragging me out of the building without Desmond noticing.
