Stalker Husband - Chapter 23:DIANA
“Oh, it’s fine.” He waves his trembling rheumatic hand dismissively. “So you enjoyed yesterday?”
“Very much.” I smile but refuse meeting his gaze. “I might be staying home today though.”
“Nah, you should go out some more. There’s nothing really going on in this villa.”
“But Lucio, shouldn’t I supposed to take care of you?” I glance at Amy who suddenly looks sharply to my direction. “I mean I should help nurse Amy look after you. After all I’m…”
“I’ve been looking after Mr. Damari for years now. I love my work and hoping to be staying longer to take care of him.” Amy says rather coldly.
“Well, you can learn a thing or two from Amy, Diana.” Lucio peers up at his nurse with an imploring gaze. “Besides, you’ve never gotten a vacation ever since, Amy.”
“There’s nowhere to go, anyway, Mr. Damari.” Amy stubbornly says and feeds Lucio his breakfast.
Among all the people in the villa, it’s only Amy that emits a cold vibe around me. I can tell she’s only a few years older than my twenty-two but she’s acting like an old maid. She’s rigid and too proper that I can’t even see a single strand of hair coming off from her neat bun. I’m a little threated by her as well.
Last night when I returned home, I bumped into her at the living room. She saw the purchases I made and her eyes narrowed suspiciously at the new clothes I wore which she knew weren’t the ones I have on upon leaving the villa.
Maybe I’m just being paranoid but because I’m guilty of having an affair that’s why I’m cautious around Amy. Or maybe I shouldn’t be cautious at all? If she rats me to Lucio for having an affair, wouldn’t it be to my own benefit? It might probably be the reason Lucio would release me from my uncle’s debts and breaks off the marriage.
I bite my lip and mentally shake my head. That’s a stupid idea and a selfish one at that. Lucio has been so nice to me. I’ll just lessen my meetings with Graysen and stop it eventually once I marry Lucio. Speaking of which, I also have to explain to Graysen that what we have can’t be more than sex. I can’t continue to string him along. He’s such a wonderful guy that he deserves the best.
The thought of setting Graysen free and giving him up to another woman suddenly hurts my heart. It’s ridiculous! Why am I even feeling this way towards him? We only met and he’s just my bed partner. But seriously though, I find it difficult to breathe imagining Graysen with someone else.
“Are you alright, Diana?” Lucio asks with a concerned frown on his forehead.
“I… I’m fine.” I smile although I’m suddenly feeling troubled.
Don’t tell me my heart suddenly wants to get involved with Graysen? This fast? But we just met twice. It’s really not possible. From my past relationships, it took me at least three dates to consider the man. But even after being in a relationship with them, I never really actually fallen in love with them.
So, whatever this weird sensation I feel towards Graysen probably because he’s the only man I’ve ever been intimate with. Maybe it’s just attachment. If I manage to sleep with him a few more times, maybe then, his effect on me will fade eventually.
“By the way, Diana…” Lucio interrupts my wild thoughts, making me suddenly look up at him with guilt as if I’ve been caught sleeping with a man. “…the couturier for your bridal gown will be coming over this week. I’ll give her your number so that you can personally arrange the time and date according to your convenience.”
“Uh… O-ok.” I bow my head down to hide my dread and continue on my breakfast.
