Stalker Husband - Chapter 25:GRAYSEN
“How dare you! How dare you do this to me!” Diana screams in between sobs. “Isn’t it enough that you stole mom from daddy? You also stole the money my dad earned so hard! You, worthless piece of shit! And now! After killing both my parents in misery, you also plan on killing me? You sold my soul to an old devil, you fucking bastard! How vile is your soul, actually? Huh, uncle? Are you happy now? Are you rolling in your grave now as you laugh in victory?”
Diana rises to her feet and stomps over the tombstone. Her face is wet with tears as she continues jumping around as if she can actually hurt her dead uncle by doing it. She never stops crying and screaming although some of her words are already incomprehensible.
“I hate you! I hate you so much! I wish I could revive you now so I could kill you myself! How dare you cause me this misery?” Diana drops to her knees, throws her head back and howls her lungs out.
I clench my fists as I stand there, holding onto a thin thread of control. I want to run towards her, gather her in my arms and let her cry on my shoulder. I wonder if it wasn’t our casino that Joshua had gambled the Coleman’s assets away, could Diana be facing a different consequence now? Would it be as tragic as this? Or would it be less dramatic?
Feelings aside, I can automatically take all their assets into my hands without consideration to the remaining family. After all, I’m a businessman and the properties are taken due by the casino’s law. However, I have Diana to think about that’s why I didn’t dissolve the assets into my name.
In fact, Diana has a choice. Marry me and retrieve her rightful assets as a Coleman, or she can forget it all and start a new life in a new place. But after knowing Diana this long now, I know she’s unable to let go of the house and the vineyard. She’s a sentimental person and finds comfort at the place where her family has once been alive and complete.
I grit my teeth and breathe out a heavy sigh. I don’t know what I’m going to tell her but I can’t leave her like this. So with a heavy heart and much heavier footsteps, I brave to approach Diana and kneel behind her back. She stiffens but doesn’t look around.
“I’m so sorry, sweetheart. I’m so sorry that I’m such a selfish bastard. I’m very sorry.” I kiss the top of her head as bitterness spreads to my entire being. “I just can’t let you go.”
After a long moment of sitting on the ground that my legs have numbed, I finally move Diana in my arms. I turn her around so I can carry her up. The move makes her eyes flutter open, looking up to me through the crack of her lids. She reaches a hand and caress my jaw. I lean into her touch before kissing her palm.
“W-who are you?” Her hand suddenly drops as she lost consciousness once again.
Leaning down, I place a light kiss on her lips before pulling her tighter. “I am the man that brought you this misery, sweetheart. But I will also be the man to give you joy. Only if you allow me to.”
