Stalker Husband - Chapter 33:GRAYSEN
“I’ll have the wedding be moved indefinitely. I want her to finish her college first, choose a career for herself.” I rub a hand over my face, suppressing my frustrated tears back into my eyes. “Also, I believe I should win her over rather than impose myself on her. I’m going to have to hide my identity from her to gain a fair game or else she’ll see me as a swindler who only comes after her for their property.”
“Finally you grow some sense! Love isn’t to be forced.” Dad chuckles in amusement. “But you got to have a good play on this, son. After all, you’ll be hiding your true identity from her so in the end, you’ll still be cheating. Lying isn’t good in a relationship.”
“Don’t remind me. I’ll just cross the bridge when I get there.”
“Ok, then I’ll have my rest now. Take good care of her and yourself.”
“I will. Thanks, dad.”
I end the call and send the doctor out the door before returning to Diana’s side, lying beside her on the bed. I watch her with a heavy heart, worried as sick why on earth would she harm herself. I carefully swipe her hair off her face and caress her cheek before kissing her forehead softly.
Sweetheart. Why are you doing this? Why are you hurting yourself? Don’t you know how worried I am? I’ll die if something happens to you. Please get well soon.
“T-they left me.” Diana speaks in her sleep as tears start dripping from her eyes. “They all left me.”
“I’m still here. I love you so much, I will never leave you.”
“Promise… Promise me.” She begs as she clings on the lapel of my shirt. “Don’t leave me.”
I pull her into my arms and kiss her softly on her lips. “I promise you, I’ll always be around waiting for you. You only have to come to me.”
Diana doesn’t speak anymore and I breathe out a relieved sigh. The medicine has probably kicked in. Good. If she gets rest, she’ll eventually gets better. I pull her hand from my shirt and smooth her clenched fist open before placing it on my chest and continue holding her in her sleep.
Sometime later, I wake up when Diana stirs in my arms. When I check on her drip, it’s almost empty but the doctor left two bags for her to finish. It’s good timing that I’ve woken up since it’s already time for Diana’s follow up medication. I also carefully change her clothes since she’s sweating, too.
“Who are you?” Diana asks while I’m buttoning her pajama top and my eyes instantly grow wide seeing she’s woken up.
Shes staring at me in shock, her eyes wide as if ready to scream bloody murder. I quickly pull her head into my chest, not wanting her to continue looking at me anymore. Shit! If she sees me now, I won’t be able to make my plans work in the future.
“Shh, sorry sweetheart. I’m not a bad guy. I’m your… Er…” Shit! What should I tell her? “I’m your nurse and you were crying in your sleep so I thought that you need a hug to calm you down.”
Diana doesn’t answer but her tensed body slowly eases down. Her hand on my chest slides around my back and hugs me in return. I’m taken aback but I don’t stop her and just let her hold me. I’m relieved because the lights are dimmed so she probably didn’t see me clearly.
When I give her the medicine, I specifically turn my back on her so she can’t peer at my face again. She obediently takes her meds and lay back on her bed. What surprises me again is when she reaches to touch my hand and pulls me towards her.
“Hold me again.”
“Go to sleep.” I tell her after tucking her under my arm, holding her dearly as if she’s the most precious thing in the whole world.
