Stalker Husband - Chapter 39:DIANA
By the time we leave his penthouse, it’s already three in the afternoon. Graysen drops me off at a coffee shop in town where I’ll be waiting for Desmond to come pick me up. However, I didn’t actually phone Desmond up because I plan on spying on Graysen by secretly following where he goes.
I pick up my purse and stealthily goes after Graysen as he gets into his car. A cab pulls up in front of me before a man gets out of it. I would’ve gotten inside but the man I see makes me stop in surprise. He also smiles at the sight of me.
“Diana Coleman. Long time no see!”
“Dr. Samuel! I’m so happy to see you here. And I can’t believe you still know me.”
“What do you mean I still know you? You’re a remarkable student, how can I ever forget you.” The man looks past me and stares at the coffee shop I just left. “Are you leaving already? Can I buy you something to drink to catch up with each other?”
“Sure! I’m free anyway.”
With a final longing glance at Graysen’s departing car, I return to Mug-Hot with Dr. Toby Samuel. He’s my professor when I’m still in university. I’ve never seen him after my second year and heard that he has to leave to do a research. He’s one of those old professors that students can easily get warm with.
“So what brings you in this town, Diana?” Dr. Samuel instantly asks as soon as our orders arrive.
“I’m in a vacation.” I lie. “How about you? Why this place?”
“Oh, I’m currently assigned at Willow Hospital. We’re actually looking for nurses. If you like, you can submit your résumé to us.”
“Really? I’d love to!” I answer excitedly. “I’ll make sure to submit my application soon, Dr. Samuel, and if possible, can I also put your name as one of my references?”
“You may do that.” He nods agreeably. “So where is your place at? I heard about your uncle but didn’t get the chance to send my condolences.”
“It’s alright, thanks.” I smile to hide my wince. “I’m currently living at Greenfield.”
“Greenfield.” Dr. Samuel frowns as he sips from his coffee, tilting his head a little like he’s thinking of something. “That’s not a residential area. As far as I know, that entire land was purchased by the Damari and put the place to rehab after the wild fires burned down the willow trees in the past. It’s actually where the willow name of this town came from. The Damari were the ones who restored it and keep the place from commercial businessmen. What are you doing there?”
“You know the Damari?” I ask instead, unable to answer his question straightforwardly.
“Who doesn’t know about the Damari? They own almost the whole damn country.” Dr. Samuel laughs in amusement. “Oh, I heard the old man is getting better even with his age and condition. His nurse, Amy, is one of my best students before, too.”
“Really?” I answer coldly, hiding my frown by sipping from my hot cocoa before an idea strikes me. “She’s doing great with her job. I’m supposed to be her trainee as her assistant but she’s too meticulous and strict that she ends up chasing me out instead.” I sigh dramatically.
“I’m glad she’s shifted her attention to doing her job well. The very reason why she takes the job as Lucios personal nurse in the first place was because of her infatuation towards the old mans son.”
“Lucio has a son?” My eyes bulge in shock and an akin to anxiety starts to numb my whole body.
“Hmm.” He nods. “It’s not a surprise you haven’t met him yet. He lives at the city since it’s where their main office is located. He’s been very busy ever since he took over the Damari Corp. Even busier when he also started his own independent venture outside of his father. The D&G.” Dr. Samuel bites on his pie and chews on it while my heart also pounds erratically in my chest. “I think the reason Graysen also doesn’t want to be in the villa at Greenfield is because of Amy. That girl…” He shakes his head hopelessly. “She should’ve given up already. The entire world knows Graysen only loves one woman, Amy doesn’t stand a chance at all.”
Graysen. Graysen and D&G. Lucio and Graysen are father and son. My heart is about to explode. I rub my chest with my knuckles. It’s not calming down. What’s going on?
“Since you’re living in the villa, did you happen to scope an inside gossip?” Dr. Samuel asks in a playful conspiratorial way. “Everyone is really curious as to who this woman Graysen has been in love with for so long. He’s even named his first cruise ship line after the girl. Wait, I forgot the name. I think it’s…” He pauses for a moment before his eyes suddenly turn sharp at me. “Diana.”
