Standing Right Next To You - Chapter 353
Reading the two texts once again, Lina chortled as she looked up at him.
“Someone misbehaved and needed to be taught a proper lesson.” She revealed the reason for sending him those texts.
“What is there to not understand, Brother Reuben~?” She imitated Talia’s way of calling him.
For playing this prank, she was given a mild flick to her forehead by her boyfriend.
“When did I become your brother? I am your Ruby!” He announced with pride that he was her Ruby, making her giggle and nod.
The man was no longer shy or embarrassed by the nickname she had given him. He had embraced and assimilated it into being a part of his identity now.
“Yes, you are mine!” Lina declared which brought a surge of happiness into his heart.
However, he was oblivious of the reason why she had said so and had failed to notice the menacing glint that passed through her eyes.
‘I have claimed him and no one can take him away from me! Not Talia and not that Helen lady!’ She scowled at those who had their eyes set on someone who was hers alone.
If the Mings were loyal people who yearned for the same loyalty from their other half, the Yangs were possessive and territorial by nature.
Simon never let his wife, Diane out of his sight and showered her with all of his love.
Patrick was jealous of everyone who got close to his Ace, even the butler of the Luo family was not spared from his watchful eyes.
In the same way, Lina who had the same blood of the Yangs and the same golden flecks in her eyes had identical traits as them.
She had chosen to stand with Reuben by his side and this was a decision she could not see herself changing any time in the future.
She was beginning to fall for him in the true sense and knew that once she was in love with him, it would be tough to extricate herself from that situation.
Hence she was being careful to not dive too deep but what could she do when she was with such a wonderful man who deserved all of her attention?
‘I am not planning to hand you over to someone else… Not after you’ve made me start liking you!’ She promised and hugged him tighter than before.
Reuben smiled as he glanced at her head which was visible from above and tossed the phone onto the couch to hug her back.
‘Meeting Talia must have affected her mood.’ He surmised and decided to warm her heart with his hug.
Lina giggled when his hand touched her lower back which was a ticklish spot for her.
The man who was beginning to have a better understanding of her body and did not continue placing his hand there as she would only laugh if he did so.
“Did she say anything to you?” He inquired in a serious tone as he needed to know whether she had tried to harm his Kitten.
Lina shook her head as nothing of that sort had taken place.
“She was talking too much which made me want to teach her an apt lesson.” She repeated the reason why she had sent him the texts.
“Plus, I had Benji with me. He can snap her arm into two pieces if she tries to harm me.” She added with a nervous chuckle.
This nervous chuckle was thanks to instances in the past where her assistant had taken strict action against people who had tried to harm her in any way while in his presence.
Benji’s overprotective nature stemmed from the fact that he was under the orders of her elder brother who treated her safety to be the utmost priority for him.
‘I miss my brother…’ She sulked but refused to contact him again as she was only met with a dead connection every single time.
“He is a competent bodyguard.” Reuben agreed as he had firsthand experience with his attacking style which was vicious and precise.
Reuben was a skilled fighter but he had not stood his ground even for a few minutes when opposite that man.
This reminded him that Benji was a highly trained fighter who shouldn’t even be in the field that he was currently in.
‘There are a lot of mysteries surrounding my Kitten.’ He glimpsed at the woman in his arms who was still an enigma that he had yet to understand completely.
“Benji has been through a lot to reach where he is and I am happy that he is with me now. I do not know how I would manage Ob…” Lina began praising him but stopped herself before she could mention Obsidia’s name.
“Managing ALL of my work without him.” She salvaged the situation with her quick thinking.
This might have worked on people who were not too keen but on someone like Reuben, this did not do the trick.
‘She was about to say something else, wasn’t she?’ He was sure that she had diverted his attention by saying the next piece.
“It’s alright, Kitten. You can tell me when you think it is the right time.” He patted her head as he muttered in an affectionate tone.
Lina’s eyes widened when she heard him and looked up at him with a surprised look on her face.
“You… you…” She did not move any further when she saw him nod in admittance.
“Only an idiot would be fooled by that.” He chuckled, not upset that she was hiding things from him.
“So you are not mad?” She inquired while tilting her head.
‘In the novel won’t the male lead get mad when he hears that the female lead had a hidden identity that was later exposed by the villains?’ She blinked at him with her big hazel eyes appearing just as confused as she was.
The only relationships she had known were her parents and the ones she read in novels.
As she did not exist during the early part of her parents’ relationship, she could only use these novels as her reference.
This caused her great confusion when she saw that Reuben was alright with the fact that she had a thing that she was hiding from him.
“We haven’t told each other everything about ourselves yet.” Reuben explained when he saw her flustered and cute appearance.
“We will get to know each other better with each passing day so fear not, my dumb little Kitten.” He coaxed her and gently poked her forehead.
Lina rubbed her forehead as she nodded her head after listening to his wise words.
‘We are opening up to each other at our own pace so there is no need to rush into anything.’ She smiled when this thought came to her mind.
“As long as that secret does not affect our relationship then I do not find any harm in revealing it at a later date.” Reuben’s words elicited a furious nod from her.
“It won’t ever affect our relationship!” She announced in a proud voice.
‘My baby Obsidia is a good and money bringing child!’ She giggled as her brainchild, Obsidia was her precious and biggest source of income.
“Then it is settled, we will wait till the other is ready and comfortable to disclose their secrets.” He proposed and his Kitten gave her nod of approval.
