Standing Right Next To You - Chapter 354
After their conversation which had many twists and turns had ended, it was finally time for Lina to leave.
Extracting herself from his arms, she sat up straight and looked him in the eyes.
“I’ll head on to the hotel with Benji since you might have work to do.” Lina revealed her plan of action to the man who was staring back at her.
After she spoke, Reuben began sulking again as what she had said was the truth.
He had spent a long time at home due to his cold and the piled up work needed to be dealt with before his workload increased any further.
“I still have a few meetings…” He muttered in response which gained him a pat from her.
The CEO of Ming Enterprises and the heir of the Ming industries was being treated like a puppy by this woman who continued to pat his head lovingly.
‘Why the heck is his hair softer than mine!?’ Lina glowered in anger when she noticed the silky hair under her palm.
Reuben was enjoying her soft touches and did not ask her to stop what she was doing.
Pushing away the bitter jealousy in her heart, Lina came to an important conclusion as she moved her hand away.
‘Once I get back from my cultivation period… I AM STEALING HIS SHAMPOO!’ She vowed to achieve the same level of softness to be felt on her hair as well.
Reuben had no clue that his Kitten was planning a burglary in his house, more specifically his bathroom.
He was thinking of a completely different matter when he noticed her rising from her seat from the corner of his eyes.
“The tea has gotten cold and there is no need to arrange for another one.” Lina suggested as it would be wasteful for them to do so.
The young man nodded in acceptance because they would be leaving soon.
Glancing at the delicate hand that was stretched out before him, he smiled and held it.
Lina had extended her hand to pull him up but soon realized that the difference in their weights would not allow her to do so.
Thankfully, her boyfriend was a kind gentleman who accepted her hand but did not rely on her entirely.
‘She’s cute when she tries.’ Reuben chuckled and this time, he patted her head in appreciation for the efforts she had put in her attempt.
Lina pouted when she realized that he was treating her like a child but did not push his big, warm hand away.
The room they were in was usually booked by him for his business meetings and this was the first time that he had brought a woman over here.
The servers and the manager were surprised to see the man with a beautiful woman but they knew better than to open their mouths about this information to anyone outside this space.
Thus, the men stood outside the door with their heads bowed as the couple left the room.
‘He did not even have to pay for it, we just walked out.’ Lina glanced at the man with curiosity lingering in her eyes.
“It will be on my tab.” He explained as he walked next to her.
Lina nodded her head as it was common for regular customers to have tabs at a restaurant and each month the bill would be sent to the person in charge.
In this situation, it was Assistant Mathew Kim who was responsible for managing all of the business meals that his boss would go on.
This wasn’t a business meal but the money was still paid from Reuben’s pocket so there wasn’t much difference in it.
On the way out, Lina called Benji to inform him that she had finished her meal and to meet them at the entrance of the restaurant.
The two assistants had already left their room and headed downstairs to wait for their bosses’ return.
There were many people who had also completed their meals and were now heading outside.
Like most of them, they were also surprised to see the beautiful woman who was walking next to Reuben Ming.
‘Her clothes…’ They judged as what she was wearing was not something that the people who frequented this place would wear.
Among the business suits and the elegant dresses was Lina with her distressed jeans and a blue jean jacket, standing out due to her trendy yet unusual outfit.
Lina did not feel offended after feeling their confused gazes as she had in fact not worn something that was appropriate for this kind of atmosphere.
‘If Ruby does not mind my clothes then I don’t have to care about what others think.’ She shrugged their judgemental eyes as she walked next to him with her head held high.
She was not one who craved to be the center of attention but she would not cower when she was under someone else’s scrutinizing eyes.
She had done nothing wrong except for the fact that she had a better sense of style compared to more than half the people they met along the way.
Taking this as a compliment to herself, she did not care about the outsiders and stepped ahead with confidence.
Reuben’s eyes had taken in all of her expressions as they walked next to each other.
‘She never fails to surprise me.’ He praised her confident appearance as he was appreciating her smug look as well as the panicking look she showed only for his eyes.
Lina smiled when they reached the lobby and found the pair of assistants waiting for them.
“Did you eat well?” She inquired as her eyes were focused on Benji because she knew that he must have been mad at her for abandoning him with the other assistant.
“Don’t worry, Lina! I made sure that he ate well and filled his tummy up to the brim!” Mathew chirped as he answered in Benji’s place.
Reuben and Benji stood at one side and could only watch while Lina and Mathew began discussing their meal.
“You should taste the food at this place…” He began giving her names of popular places that had great food and ambiance.
In response, Lina pulled out her phone and began making a note of all the places that could be future date spots for her and Reuben.
“How come she does not have this same level of energy while working?” Benji scowled at his boss who was overly enthusiastic but for the wrong things.
Reuben, for once, could understand what this man was speaking about as he had to go through the same thing with his assistant.
“Assistant Kim can never display this kind of vigor while at work.” He shook his head, condemning the assistant who was now showing pictures on his phone to Lina.
The two had forgotten about the other, serious and fun-sucking men and were having a deep conversation about the various places of relaxation available in the city.
Benji rolled his eyes when he found that their presence was being forgotten as they were delving into their own little world that had all types of nonsense filled in it.
“Ahem…” He cleared his throat to get their attention back on him and was glad that he had succeeded in the first attempt.
Lina and Mathew turned towards the other two and were embarrassed when they realized that they had altogether disregarded their presence until now.
