Standing Right Next To You - Chapter 360
Lina stretched her arms and rubbed her stiff neck to alleviate the soreness she felt.
With her eyes shut she let out a low groan as she continued to massage her neck muscles.
‘I feel like I am getting old already…’ She let out a loud sigh and fell backward.
The Tablet that had been on her lap until now fell on the soft cushion, softening the blow from the fall which had not affected Lina at all.
She laid flat on her back and remained in the same position until mild snores were heard in the room.
Her baby blue pajama shirt rose higher after she had plopped on the cushion, revealing her fair stomach which rose and fell with her steady breathing.
Loose strands of hair fell across the bedding, scattered and messy, just like the woman’s mind at this moment.
Her tired body could no longer stay up to continue working towards the goal that she had decided to achieve as soon as possible.
With this exhaustion overtaking her senses, she could only give in and fell asleep right where she was.
Thus, Lina Yang fell asleep right there in the well-lit room with her Tablet tossed aside as it laid right next to her.
The cause of Lina’s tired body was the events that began to take place numerous hours ago.
____
Benji had completed his lectures, instructing her on what to do and what not to do while she stayed in this hotel room alone.
Seeing him to the door, she waved at him and locked the room once he had stepped out.
“Freedom!” She screamed the moment the door was shut.
“I can still hear you, idiot! Work hard and don’t mess around!!!” Her assistant chastised her even from outside the room.
‘Go already!’ Lina rolled her eyes and ignored his voice so that he might leave.
Shaking his head at the door that remained shut and after not receiving my answer, Benji scoffed and began walking away from her room.
The assistant had a lot of activities on his agenda while his boss remained in her seclusion period.
Hence, he did not waste any more time after making sure that she had settled into her home for the next few days.
The first on his agenda was to get himself a car and a driver’s license to avoid any further complications to her health due to her extreme fear of speed.
Today’s cab incident reminded him that even when she did not let it on, she was still confined by her fear which could manifest itself at any time.
He needed to ensure that such incidents would be avoided in the future.
To achieve this, he had to head over to his apartment to fetch some documents then make an appointment with the Department of Vehicle Administration beforehand.
Once he gained a driver’s license then they would not have to depend on anyone to drive them around in the absence of Derek, Lina’s chauffeur.
After he completed this, he even had to take a look at the task that his boss had given to him.
‘What was that name again? Jackson, right?’ He recollected and nodded when he had remembered the correct name.
Lina had ordered him to get this man’s personal contact information since she wished to have a conversation regarding the ashtray she had found in Steph’s workspace.
‘This woman is getting more and more nosy with each passing day.’ He denounced her prying actions but he could not refuse her commands.
Therefore, once he had gotten his license, he would figure out the identity of the man whom his boss wished to meet after her closed-door cultivation.
Back in the hotel room, Lina explored the suite that she would be spending her time in.
‘I want my second bedroom!’ She grumbled when she reached the study room that was available in the suite.
She had the habit of working in a relaxed environment where she could use any position to let her creativity flow.
Sometimes she sat upright, at times she would lounge on the couch and other times she would lay on the bed and draw on her Tablet.
However, here she could only use the study which held a couch and the desk.
Though it was spacious and well lit, she could not find the same comfort level that she needed for her creative process.
This made her come to the conclusion that something needs to be done to rectify it.
“I know just what to do!” Lina exclaimed when a brilliant idea came to her mind.
With renewed vigor, she dialed the phone placed in the study room which connected her to the reception desk.
“Can you please send a concierge to my room?” She requested after the phone was answered.
The lady at the desk hurried to call the manager in charge as the call had been made from the presidential suite.
According to her, this might have been a distinguished guest who was able to get the Presidential suite at such short notice.
The Manager rushed to Lina’s suite after he was informed of the same by the receptionist.
“Such quick service?” Lina chuckled when she heard the knock on the door which was heard soon after her phone call had ended.
The young man who was in his early thirties bowed to greet the guest who had booked the room in their hotel.
“I am the Manager here, Miss. My name is Manager Lang. How may I help you?” He was courteous in his words and actions.
By the interaction he had with the guest’s assistant, he was sure that she was either a new big shot who had just arrived in the city or the daughter of one of the wealthy families.
‘That man booked the room indefinitely and asked me to look after the demands made by the guest to the best of my abilities.’ He recalled the conversation he had with Benji.
The only restriction was for the meals which were according to the meal plan that he had passed to the Manager, other than that they were supposed to help her in whatever she asked for.
Lina was still ignorant of the fixed meals which her mother and assistant had put together as she had something else on her mind.
“Can I make an addition to the study room?” She inquired and she led the way to the room they were talking about.
Manager Lang was confused when she had asked for such a weird request but he followed after her nonetheless.
Upon entering the study, he saw the woman standing with a frown as she stared at the furniture in the room.
“Can we get a bed in here?” She turned around and questioned the man in charge of the hotel.
This came as a shock to the Manager whose confusion soon replaced a stoic expression.
“Is something wrong with the bedroom, Miss?” He investigated as he needed to know why she would ask for such a thing.
Lina was quick to shake her head as she decided to explain certain things to him.
“I keep the bedroom for my rest time but while I work I need to be comfortable. A bed is what I need in this room.” She elaborated about the request she had made.
‘This is Benji’s fault! I never would have called for the Manager if he had booked for a suite with two bedrooms like he usually did!’ She sneered at the man who had caused her trouble.
