Standing Right Next To You - Chapter 363
Richy glanced at the young woman who was seated on the dingy couch in his room.
Even when he had asked the maids to let him rest and had taken permission from his young miss to stay back in his room, he was not given any privacy.
‘Earlier it was the maid who kept bugging me to open the door so that she might check up on me and now this lady has arrived.’ He scowled in his heart but made sure to maintain his usual submissive expression.
Mandy was waiting for his answer and the longer she observed the marks on him, the more she felt distressed and annoyed.
‘Did someone bully him and he is trying to stay silent to avoid getting into more trouble?’ She assumed that this might be the reason for his disobedience.
She had asked him to reveal the name of the person who had messed with him but he had not given her any answer until now.
“What is it that you are trying to hide from me?” She interrogated while narrowing her eyes.
He was one of the only people she could trust in this entire mansion and here he was, trying to keep secrets from her.
Richy shook his head as a conflicted look graced his face which made it appear as though he was struggling to decide what needs to be done.
‘How should I tell her that I got beaten to a pulp by that creep with the computer!’ He scowled at the woman who was prying too much into his life.
The other day when Benji had tracked him down and broken his bedroom door to enter his room, they had a short talk with each other.
Sadly, their conversation was going nowhere due to his rebellious and irksome answers.
___
“Why are you here?” Benji had repeated his question after noticing the evil smirk that had appeared on Richy’s face.
Through their interactions, it was clear that these two men had come in contact with each other before today.
It was also clear that they did not get along as they continued to glare daggers at each other and an ominous air surrounded them.
“That happens to be… None of your business so butt out!” Richy scoffed at the man who was staring down at him.
This was the final straw for Benji as he clenched the other man’s collar and slammed him against the wall.
“Speak, snake!” He growled and leered at him, danger surrounding his entire being.
Benji knew exactly who Richy was, a con artist whose specialty was to integrate himself into any atmosphere.
He also knew that Richy was not his real name but an alias he must have used to sneak into this household and secure a place for himself here.
However, Richy remained tight-lipped with no intention of revealing his purpose of appearing in the Yang family’s mansion.
“Looks like you need to be taught a lesson!” Lina’s assistant scowled as he raised his fist, landing the very first blow right on his jaw.
The man who was smaller in size was at an obvious disadvantage as he was suffering blow after blow at the hands of the muscular man.
‘I… Cannot… Reveal… My… Plans…’ Richy gritted his teeth and did not spill the beans even when he felt faint.
Benji stopped when he saw the blood on the other man’s face which was oozing out from the cut on his cheekbone.
The assistant’s hand was smeared with blood which made him step away, almost with disgust emerging on his face.
Richy slumped to the floor when the hand holding his collar was taken away.
Looking up, he glared at the man who had caused so much damage in such little time.
“Stay away from Lina!” The tall man spat out his warning as he took a step away and left the room in the same hurry that he had entered it.
Richy wiped the blood from his torn lips and hesitated to touch the open wound on his cheek.
“Hiss!” He grimaced when the area he had touched sent a jolt of pain to his flesh.
‘I do not think that I can accept that warning…’ He answered to no one in particular as he gazed at the space where the door was supposed to be but was now fallen to the ground.
____
“How long are you going to make me wait!?” Mandy’s impatient voice brought him back to his senses as he looked at her.
Throughout the time that he had been reminiscing about the tragedy that had happened to him, not once did he let his neutral expression falter while he stood before her.
This resulted in Mandy watching his face as though he was in a trance as he stood motionless before her.
‘That muscle headed asshole deserves every virus in the world attacking his computers!’ He cursed the source of his problems.
After the beatdown he had received, there was no way in hell that he could show his face to this woman.
A part of his charm in bringing Mandy over to his side and succeeding in his mission in Yang Manor belonged to his pretty face.
The same face was now swollen and throbbing so how could he continue to keep her interested in him with this pig-like face?
Therefore, he had made up his mind to hide out until he could heal his wounds and only then make an appearance before her.
Unfortunately, all of his plans had gone down the drain when she came barging into his room and now he had to make up a valid excuse for the ugly face he had right now.
“Miss, I…” He paused and tried to think of something in his desperate position.
Mandy and the maid who had arrived with her stared at him with curiosity brimming in their eyes to hear what could have caused the present state of the poor man.
“I did not want to show myself before you because I slipped in the shower and banged my face on the shower handles!” He blurted as his cheeks reddened due to the embarrassment he felt.
Richy was an excellent performer who could manipulate people into believing whatever it was that he wanted them to believe.
He could easily compare to and even beat Lucille Rong if there ever was a competition to see who could switch expressions faster.
The older Rong woman still had a lot to learn from this young man as his acting was seamless that even Lina had been believing his identity as a mere servant in this house.
Mandy gauged his face as the words he had spoken were ridiculous and there was no way that he was serious about his excuse.
But soon she realized that he was indeed speaking the truth as the embarrassment and the wronged expression for having to face this humiliating exposure of his clumsiness was visible on his face.
The excuse he had made up was absurd yet she and the maid had chosen to accept it due to the combination of his wronged expressions and his shy body language.
“If that is the case then you can spend the rest of the week inside your room.” She permitted him to recover before he came back to serve her.
Having said her piece, Mandy and the maid soon left the room in a hurry.
‘You trust too easily.’ Richy clicked his tongue at their naivete but was pleased as things had once again worked out in his favor.
