Standing Right Next To You - Chapter 375
It had been more than three hours since Reuben and the newly introduced man, Trigger had left the hotel as they journeyed towards their office.
Lina was on the couch in the study as she held the stylus in her hand, twirling it around her fingers in a skillful manner as though she had done it countless times.
Her brain and fingers were now taking a short break after their continuous efforts to draw on the screen of the tablet in her lap.
As she rested her eyes from being strained due to the rays of the electronic gadget, the fingers of her right hand continued to move as her left hand massaged her forehead.
‘So that was the new assistant.’ She thought to herself after she was introduced to Trigger.
The man was taller than Mathew and certainly did not look like the typical nerdy assistant that would usually follow CEOs in the novels she read.
He appeared to be more of an MMA fighter with his broad shoulders, rigid muscles, and also the slightly tanned skin.
Even when Trigger had tried to conceal his alert nature behind the thick glasses, his innate personality seemed to be peeking through his efforts to hide.
‘That man most certainly is a bodyguard.’ She declared and was sure about this conclusion that her mind had come up with.
After all, Trigger was emitting the same aura that her assistant Benji would when he was around new people.
That air of vigilance and suspicion he had learned to cover up after spending years by her side, acting as her assistant.
But it occurred to Lina that maybe Tigger had just begun to take on this new role and hence had trouble to conceal his true nature.
“It will take some time but he will learn eventually.” She muttered and opened her eyes.
She had had enough of the short break and now was the time for her to get back to work.
If she wished to finish her work on time while making sure that she spent quality time with her boyfriend, she would have to work harder and not waste precious minutes doing nothing at all.
With this resolution in her mind, she tossed all thoughts aside and dives back into her work mode.
Her usual lax attitude was gone and a serious and dedicated demeanor was what she had assumed right about now.
There were many people depending on her to finish this collection and she could not let their hopes go in vain.
The date for the Winter Collection was soon approaching and she had to complete creating the designs, only after which they could be sent over to be made.
The first thing that needed to be done was for her to complete these designs and hence she got to work without any delay.
Lina had already made the detailed notes about each dress that Stephen had designed which made things easier for her.
Now she knew what thoughts she had upon viewing each dress which saved her time from doing it all over again.
Her eyes flew across the screen as her hand moved about, bringing a basic sketch of a necklace to appear within seconds.
This part was the easiest for her as she had done it numerous times but the next part was the one where she would have to spend sufficient time if she wanted to create a memorable design.
LY’s unique trait was her skill to make everything designed to look like they would made with the buyer in mind.
It would appear as though that particular piece of jewelry was made for them which was also why there was such competition to obtain LY’s designs as their own.
The news of LY’s collaboration with Stephen Jin for the Winter Collection by Obsidia Designs had not yet been announced to the public.
If this news broke out then there would be countless media houses who would try to fetch more information from the employees in Obsidia.
However, that aspect was Wade’s responsibility which he would have to discuss with Obsidia’s PR director, Ivan Zhou before coming to the right conclusion.
Wade wished to give Lina some buffer period before he would start pestering her to hurry with the creation of her designs.
He knew that once this news of LY’s involvement was spread in the media then the eyes of every socialite in the city would be on their company.
The recent news of the grand success of the European branch had increased their vigilance to see what the branch in their city would produce.
The VP was excited to see how much the sales would increase if two of the stars in Obsidia would be collaborating with each other.
After all, they were both of his money-minting machines so how could Wade Luo not be eager to see how much profit they could bring to the company.
Lina knew of her stingy brother’s intentions and hence did not waste time as her Tablet’s screen was soon forming the sketch of a beautiful necklace.
“Gotta finish this before lunch arrives.” She mumbled while drawing on the Tablet.
According to what she had heard from Reuben, her meals were predetermined by her assistant.
While this took away her chance to choose whatever she desired to eat, she was not made with the meals she had last night and this morning.
They were all of her favorites and they were healthier with what she might have ordered for anyway.
With this thought in her mind, she did not mull over the fact that she would not get to choose what her heart desires and went back to concentrating on her work.
Lina’s attention was fixed on her designs and did not let her thoughts wander anywhere else.
___
While Lina Yang had gotten herself immersed in her work, there was someone else who was trying to work hard as well.
“Miss Zheng, you do not have to do any of this.” A man clamored as he wiped the sweat off his forehead.
The woman who sat on the couch with her legs crossed one over the other looked up from the file she was reading and narrowed her eyes.
“What are you trying to say? That I am not needed here?” She scowled at the man as she sat up straight.
The man who was standing at a short distance was now sweating profusely as he shook his head in immediate denial.
“That is not what I meant, Miss!” He defended himself as a panic arose in his heart.
‘She is the boss’ daughter so I need to be careful around her.’ He decided and gulped in his fear.
The woman before him had barged into his office which left him startled and panicked at her sudden arrival.
Not only had she entered his room so rudely, but she had also taken over the files he had been perusing which were now in her hands.
The woman harrumphed after glancing at his timid face and went back to reading the file on her lap.
However, the door was pushed open with a force that brought their attention over to the person who had disturbed the ambiance in the room.
“Who the …” The woman growled at this impudent behavior but froze.
“Dad?” She muttered when she noticed who had entered the room.
