“Who was it?” Olive Kim questioned when the episode of her favorite daily soap opera had finally come to an end.
Being the loving husband that he was, Mathew did not hide a single thing from his wife and spilled everything before her.
From the news of a secret auction taking place in a different country to his boss’s dilemma which he had just solved.
“That was the right thing to do.” She agreed with the suggestion he had given to the Emperor.
The Madam of the Ming family treated Olive as her adoptive daughter and the two had a very close relationship.
This made Olive one of the very few people who could call Reuben her brother without garnering his anger as even he treated her as his sworn sister.
While she had heard a lot about Miss Lina from her husband, she had never met the young lady who had managed to snatch the Ice Emperor’s allegedly frozen heart.
Thus she was eager to meet the first girlfriend her brother Reuben had ever made but was forbidden from stepping out of the house as she was in her final days of pregnancy.
Her due date was close and the entire family wished to make sure that she and her baby were safe at home where Mathew could watch over her.
‘Well… Only the Ming family…’ She frowned when she was reminded of the family who refused to acknowledge her.
Mathew had caught the gloomy look on her face and he understood what might have caused it.
‘Don’t worry, Olly. They will accept you someday…’ He consoled her in his heart but did not bring this up during such a delicate time of her life as he knew that it was a sensitive issue for her.
Therefore, without delay, he decided to shift the topic to something else in order to get her mind off what had saddened her.
“We still haven’t thought of the baby’s name, Olly!” He exclaimed while putting on an expression of horror.
His uproar managed to drag Olive out of her reverie and she realized that he was right.
Thus, the couple then moved on to check out the options they had for their firstborn who would be here in no time.
___
The Kim couple was busy vetoing the names the other person had selected and on the other side of the city, the Emperor was scanning through the numerous files placed on his table.
While these few were busy with the tasks at hand, the entire building of Obsidia Designs was enjoying their lunch this afternoon.
Inside Lina’s office, the group from earlier was also having a great time.
Lina shared her bento with her puppy who did not forget to serve her a few items every few minutes.
Benji was focused on his lunch and did not mind what the rest were up to which left Leon, the one who was now happy with the lunch his sister had packed for him.
‘What could go wrong with sandwiches?’ He had waved away his suspicions and had gobbled up the first sandwich.
Fresh cucumber, mint, and sausage sandwich was a refreshing option he would not have chosen for himself but after trying it out, he was beginning to change his opinion about it.
Lina had been keeping an eye on him to gauge how he liked the lunch his sister had packed for him and sighed in relief when he appeared to be satisfied with it.
‘As long as he likes it.’ She smiled then went on to focus on her meal.
Leon finished his first then moved on to the second which was another odd but excellent version of a mac and cheese grilled sandwich.
He applauded his sister’s skills which had improved by leaps and bounds, deciding that he would stop being so skeptical about it in the future.
After he had relished this came the final sandwich which looked appetizing as well.
A triple-layered club sandwich, he had saved the best for the last, and now his mouth watered to have a taste of it.
Everyone had, by now, noticed his greedy actions and Lina even raised her brow when she found a proud smirk appearing on his lips, making her shake her head.
With their eyes on him, the young man held the last sandwich and bit into it only to make that smirk freeze along with his entire body.
“Huh? What’s wrong?” Lina questioned when she realized that his expression wasn’t right.
Just one bite had changed his proud smile and now there was a painful grimace present.
“Did you swallow a fly?” Stephen sneered as this assistant’s face was ruining his appetite now.
This made Benji chortle as he had seen how proud Leon had been just a few seconds ago.
Lina was glad that he was enjoying his sister’s hard work but now it seemed that the tables had turned after the first bite.
“Finish it!” She clamored, encouraging him to eat it all up just as he had done for the first two.
However, Leon looked unwilling and there were even signs of him trying to spit it out.
This made Lina jump up as she pressed his lips together, forcing him to swallow whatever was in his mouth.
Her fingers were clamping down on his lips but her eyes moved down to the lunch box he had brought.
‘Looks fine…’ She wondered what could have caused his attitude to change so quickly.
Under Lina’s coercion and her threats of even force-feeding him if he continued to refuse, Leon managed to finish it without dropping a single crumb.
Only after he had emptied the box did Lina sit back down.
As soon as she had done that, Stephen and Benji’s leering eyes came into Leon’s line of sight.
‘She was the one who shoved that sandwich of death down my throat so why are you glaring at me!?’ He lamented as he was being treated as the villain when he was, in fact, the most innocent victim.
However, they weren’t interested in hearing his wordless pleas as he had been the reason why Lina had stopped eating earlier.
“Take any snacks you want from my fridge for a week.” The young lady, the reason why he was being glared at, announced while looking at him.
Leon’s aggrieved expressions shifted instantly as he nodded like a woodpecker, accepting her offer.
He then glanced at Benji with a provocative smirk but soon halted and widened his eyes.
This was because all the muscular assistant had done was point at the keys placed on the table.
The keys which opened this door were always in Benji’s hands so even if he had permission to take anything he wanted from the mini-fridge in Lina’s office, how would he do so if the doors were locked?
Being reminded of this fact made him sulk and pout as he had just been forced to eat that hideous sandwich that instantly wrecked the taste of his mouth.
The taste left behind by the earlier two was instantly erased and now, all he could taste was the one ingredient that had ruined that last sandwich.
“How could she soak the bread in pickle juice?” His grumbling mutters echoed in the silent room, making everyone grimace at what they heard.
The club sandwich had three slices of bread with excellent fillings but the entire center layer was soaked in pickle juice which had overwhelmed his taste buds.
The vinegar scent had made him want to throw up but he had been unable to do so thanks to Lina’s heroic efforts to save the sandwich, sacrificing his tongue and stomach in the process.
Now understanding why he had reacted in such a way, a tiny portion of their hearts felt pity for the young man but in the next second, peals of roaring laughter engulfed the entire room.
Benji had completed his lunch but Lina and Steph had yet to do so but this did not stop them from snickering at Leon’s pitiful state.
Their uncontrollable laughter made the other assistant sulk and pout all over again but to no avail as they were too busy snorting and chortling.
“Hey! That’s enough already!” He complained which made them halt and glance at him.
Looking at his reddening face, Lina decided not to push his buttons any longer as she had seen how he behaves when he was wronged.
‘I can’t have him crying again…’ She shook her head then took a deep breath in to regain her composure.
The other two followed in her footsteps and coughed, trying to maintain a straight face.
“Your snacks cannot revive my dead taste buds now can they?” Leon sneered once he found their attention back on him.
Lina rolled her eyes but did not disagree, instead, she had another plan up her sleeve.
“What if I take you along to have some fun the next time I get the chance?” She proposed, smirking, sure that the foodie in him would not be able to reject her latest proposal.
‘Using the same tactic my brothers use on me whenever I get mad at them.’ Lina recalled the numerous times when she had gotten more than what was initially proposed thanks to this method.
Thus she used the same on Leon who had refused to accept her ‘free snacks for a week’ offer earlier.
‘Anyway, I’m going to be needing his help more often than earlier so might as well keep him happy..’ She giggled before putting on a straight face as she waited to see how he would respond this time around.
