Star Wars New Order - Volume 1 Chapter 19 Links

While the Jedi masters were debating in the underground Vaner followed the two highest members of the Order. Soon they came to a stop a Master Windu turned to him. “This is a meditation room, You will meditate in here for a day. Tomorrow you will become a Knight” said Windu while moving from before the door and making a sign for Vaner to enter.

Vaner did as he was told and enter the meditation room after he entered the door closed behind him. With Vaner in the meditation room master Windu turns to Yoda and before he could speak, he was cut by Yoda “Here not the right it is. To the Council chamber we go” said Yoda before heading for the elevator.

Windu followed Yoda silently and was surprised by what he saw. As they arrived at the Council chamber Yoda didn’t sit first but head to the recording controller and cut it off before sitting on his seat. After Yoda sat Windu did the same, then seeing Yoda look at him Windu decides to speak.

“Why would you want to make him a knight? You blocked it fast so you can hide it from the other but I walk a path that is close to the dark side. I feel it way more clearly than the other. Why would you hide it from them, they are the council?” ask Windu clearly angered and confused by Yoda act.

“Hrm. A good question it is. The Order Young Shan needs.” Said Yoda

“Even if the Order needs another Shan, the Order dos not need a Sith” said Windu trying his best to keep his calm.

“When become a Sith Young Shan did ?” Ask Yoda

“He is using the dark side and while he isn’t a master of it now with his talent he will sooner or later become a master of it” said Windu while clenching his jaw.

“Calmer you need to be. Mastering the dark side becoming a Sith it does not mean. Hrm, Yes. Or a Sith I would be” said Yoda.

“It does not ” Windu was going to retort that it didn’t matter and that it was still the dark side when he finally realized what Yoda had just said. Realizing what he had just heard the eyes and the mouth of Windu became wide open and had a hard time to close.

“What do you mean Master Yoda” said Windu confused by what he just heard

“What I just said I mean. In eight hundred years even Yoda mistake can make.” Said Yoda while slowly shaking his head to himself. “To the dark side, I fell, and from then on warier of the dark side I was.” Said Yoda while looking at Windu.

Hearing master Yoda, Windu was totally shocked and had a hard time returning to himself while he was looking at Yoda differently. At first, he looks at him as if he had been betrayed but as time slowly passes and Windu thought about it his look at Yoda changed and finally returned to the original one but an attentive mind could see that the respect in those eyes had increased.

While he was confused at first about what to think about Yoda, Windu knew that there was no better man in the order to hold the name of Jedi. Yoda was the model for almost every Jedi but even he had once fallen to the dark side. Windu knew the dark side better any Jedi in the Order for he always walks at the border with it and he knew how strong the temptation of the dark side was.

Knowing that Yoda had fallen to this temptation was a blow for him but seeing him now as the best Jedi there is he couldn’t help but respect this old man more than ever because he knew the dark side more than the other he knew how hard it would be for one to come back from it and even more to become a Jedi role model.

During Windu internal debate Yoda just calmly sat on his seat waiting for him without any change on his face as if what he had just said was of minor importance.

“Master Yoda if you now both the dark side and the light side of the force can’t you see through the cloak made by the dark side” ask Windu who was back to himself and instantly ask a pertinent question.

“Possible it may be. But to wary of the dark side I am. Not to come back I fear.” Said Yoda while sighing while Windu slowly nods understanding his master reason.

Exhaust by this depressing conversation Windu let out a sigh before asking directly “Master what do you want to do with Vaner Shan?”

“Nothing. Hrm, Yes. Not intervene we must. Frail is the future, too much intervention and changed it is” said Yoda

“I agree that the future is frail which is why I opposed training Young Skywalker. I don’t trust any prophecy or vision master. Only the Jedi can save the order, it is not what one individual can do.” Said Windu while looking at Yoda who just looks at him.

“How can you be so sure he won’t fall and become a Sith, our opponents are hidden and have already taken some of our Jedi. I don’t want such a talented individual to become our enemy once he matures” said Windu gravely.

Yoda closed his eyes thinking about it, he also realized that he couldn’t blindly trust his vision when they didn’t fully believe the prophecy of the chosen one. Seeing Yoda in deep reflection Windu let out a sigh of relief, he succeeds in making Yoda reconsider which was good.

“Right you are. A guarantee we need.” Said Yoda still thinking of what could be used to be sure he wouldn’t fall to the dark side. Hearing Yoda, Windu’s face twitched a little as he thought ‘I’m overconfident he didn’t change idea’ before sighing discreetly.

A few minutes later Yoda opened his eyes, seeing he had finished thinking Windu look at him curious about what was his plan to stop Vaner to fall to the dark side.

“To stop him from falling being with him we need.” Said Yoda leaving Windu speechless, as this was totally impossible to let him do what he wants and be with him at the same time.

“This is impossible, I’m sure he will leave soon after becoming a knight.” Said Windu as normally as possible.

“Following him impossible it is. Finding him when needed it is” said Yoda which causes Windu to become thoughtful. It was theoretically possible however this would need at least a Force bond and a high sensibility to the Force.

“This could work but this will require a Jedi with a rare sensibility to the Force, this type of sensibility is hard found moreover he must be ready at any moment and his absence from the temple must not be surprising.” Said Windu while trying to find a Jedi who could meet these criteria, however, he couldn’t find any.

Finally, after a dozen minutes of thinking without success, Windu looked toward Yoda only to find him looking at himself with a small smirk.

“Why not say it if you found a suitable person” said Windu a little exasperate with Yoda’s attitude on such an important topic.

“A suitable Jedi I have. Master Mundi help we will need.” Said Yoda while Windu acquiesces as creating a Force Bond without being found out was not an easy task and some help would be welcome.

While the two highest representatives of the Order were debating on Vaner future, Vaner himself was in the meditating room. He was reviewing all the things that had happened today and mainly his uses of the dark side.

During his trial, he said confidently that he wouldn’t fall to the dark side but now that he was thinking about it calmly, he realized how arrogant he was. Even with his small knowledge bout Star Wars and the Sith he knew a lot if not almost all the Sith had the same intention as him at the beginning.

‘The dark side comes to me naturally even more than the light side, I’m sure being able to use force lighting without training is not normal. Training on the dark side without guidance would be suicidal.’ Thought Vaner as he came to the conclusion that when he would go out of the temple to train in the vast universe he would also need to find some Sith Holocron so he could have their teaching, after all, no matter how much Yoda accommodate him he won’t teach him the dark side.

The deep meditation helped Vaner reflect on himself and find answers to his interrogation more easily, he assumed that this was why before the knighting ceremony the future knight had to meditate after all the trial of the Spirit was quite an experience for any Padawan.

Vaner was keeling on the ground his feet tucked under him still in meditation closely linked with the Force when he slowly opened his eyes as he felt something was now in the chamber. Looking in front him Vaner could the same blond young girl he saw when he finished his trial of the Spirit.

The two looked at each other for some time and while this silent exchange was going on Vaner was using the Force to learn what was in front of him. As time passed a frowned appeared on Vaner face, through the Force he could feel her existence, a living existence like his own or his master however when he distances himself just a little from the force her existence became the same as a ghost not that he had seen one but that was the impression it gave him.

“What are you?” ask Vaner but his question was left without response as while he could see the lips of the girl move he couldn’t hear what she was saying.

“I can’t hear you” said Vaner which caused the face of the blond child t light up understanding why he wasn’t answering her. After a few seconds of thinking the girl run toward him causing Vaner to be on his guard as he still didn’t know what it was, he thought this was some kind of vision but he will need to search about it in the archives.

Once in front of him, the girl sat on the ground and took a branch, seeing this branch appear from nowhere in the hand of the girl only increased the confusion of Vaner and the most surprising part was still to come as when the girl seemed to use the branch to write on the ground. The ground of the room which was made of marble changed where she had written and it became soil.

Vaner read what she had written ‘I’m Vaylin, who are you I have never seen you here before today’.
