Star Wars New Order - Volume 1 Chapter 20 Knight

Reading the message of the young girl Vaner looked at her who was looking at him with a cheerful smile as impatience could be seen in her eyes as she was waiting to know who he was.

Seeing her like this Vaner unknowingly let his guard down as his body slowly relaxed as a small smile appeared in the corner of his mouth making it seem like he was gently trying to annoy her. Seeing this smile painted on is face as he didn’t seem to want to answer a pout present itself on her face as she puffs her cheeks.

Her reaction caused Vaner to burst out laughing which only increased her pout as tried to jump at him only to pass through him and be covered of soil and foliage causing the laugh of Vaner to increase.

Seeing that she was really becoming mad Vaner tried to stop laughing as he said “Sorry, sorry it’s just been a long time since I laugh like this. I’m Vaner little girl.” Even though he answered her question the little girl was still pouting but soon enough she walked back to him with a new stick to write on the ground.

However, when she about to write Vaner saw that she seemed to hear something then she turned her head. What she saw her face to light up and an instant after the little girl who was before him vanished as if she was never there to begin with and the ground who had become soil return to its original marble state.

While Vaner was pondering about what was happening to him for him to see this girl. Vaylin was happily talking with her mother about her new encounter that had suddenly vanished. Her story caused Senya Tirall to frown and she internally decides to increase the security of her daughter.

The next day, as Vaner was still sitting on the ground the door of the room, opened in its classical ‘pshh’ sound and his master entered the room. Vaner calmly opened his eyes and looked at his master with a discrete and calm smile.

Ki-Adi6mundi who was looking at Vaner was confused. He knew that this meditation was important and change the padawan a lot however the change in Vaner left him confused. It was like he didn’t change Mundi could feel his outside calmness and his chained wildness in him however while looking at him Mundi felt as if some kind of beast had been set free as he felt was being swallowed as he looked in Vaner blue eyes who seemed a little darker with reflecting he never saw until now.

“Master I know that I’m handsome but please stop looking at me, I make me feels like ants are crawling on me.” Said Vaner to distract his master from his thought.

Hearing Vaner the face of Ki-Adi-Mundi twitch as he looks at Vaner with fake anger and said: “Brat it seems that becoming a knight gave you the impression that I won’t take care of you anymore.”

This time it Vaner turn to have his face twitched. He knew Ki-Adi-Mundi was not angered and was joking with him but he also knew that he will have to go through some beating in lightsaber training soon.

At first, when Vaner finally mastered the Soreesu form and fought Ki-Adi-Mundi in a standstill he thought that these beating would stop but how wrong he was. His master had always only used Makashi against him so when he didn’t win with Makashi he starts to use his best still Ataru which caused Vaner to get beaten again.

But with hard work Vaner reach a really high level in Soreesu making him one of the best of the order so he finally to stop getting beaten again causing Mundi to acknowledge his growth. With this Vaner thought he was safe of the beating but seeing his Padawan becoming a little c.o.c.ky Ki-Adi-Mundi decide to teach him Ataru and so their duel became Ataru versus Ataru causing Vaner to get his ass beaten again up until now.

While Vaner had reached an acceptable level of knowledge in Ataru his use of it was not even at the level he could say that he could use it in a duel against a random Jedi knight who specialized in it let alone against Mundi who was probably the second-best user of the order after Yoda.

“Come we need to go, the council is already up there waiting for us.” Said Mundi before heading out.

Vaner followed his master without asking as he already knew where they were going. Their goal was the summit of the Tranquility spire where was located in the Hall of Knighthood.

Vaner and Ki-Adi-Mundi entered the elevator and during their way to the summit Mundi asked “What are you planning to do after the ceremony?”

Hearing his master question Vaner looked at him for an instant before becoming thoughtful on what to say. “I will go to the Archives to see what new information I have access to then I will probably leave the temple as those corrupt bastards won’t be able to keep me here anymore.” Answered Vaner.

“hmm, so what type of mission will you take?”

“I don’t plan on taking any mission master. I will just roam the universe freely following the call of the Force” answered Vaner. His answer caused Mundi to frown and said “For this, you would need the authorization from the council Vaner so I don’t think this will be possible.”

“I see.” Said Vaner nothing else as he understood that he would need to go out by himself without saying it to anyone and let master Yoda clean up after him.

Seeing the short response from his student Mundi let out a sigh and said “When you plan to go tell me so I can see master Yoda to plan how to clean up your mess”. Their discussion came to an end as the door of the elevator opened.

Following his master Vaner arrived at the entry of a circular room, Vaner entered the room and his master stayed outside as the ancient knighting ceremony was going to happen and he had no right to enter.

The room was totally dark and Vaner could only see with difficulty what was just in front of him, not that it really matters as he could feel the room trough the Force but whatever this was an ancestral ritual.

Vaner slowly walks to the center of the room before kneeling on the ground as he was already briefed by ki-Adi-Mundi on what to do. Once he was kneeling on the ground in the center of the room the Masters who were present ignited their lightsaber forming a ring around him.

With these sources alight Vaner could see that the room was really similar to the standard room of the high council however this was the hall of knighthood, the similarity was such that if he didn’t know Vaner wouldn’t be able to say the difference between the two.

In the silent room, the Jedi master starts to recite ancient passages from the code of the Order made for the ceremony. As the reciting of the ancient passages became stronger and stronger as if the Masters had entered in some kind of trance Master Yoda slowly walk toward Vaner before lowering his lightsaber just above each of his shoulders and severing his Padawan braid that hung behind his ear for ten years know.

Seeing his braid fall on the ground Vaner knew that he wasn’t a Padawan anymore, he was finally a Jedi Knight. Vaner then picks up his braid then following the plan of the ceremony slowly stood up before bowing then slowly exiting the chamber in the same religious there had been when he entered the room and with him outside the room the Knighting ceremony was completed.

Outside of the room, Vaner found Ki-Adi-Mundi sitting on the ground seemingly exhaust which surprised Vaner as there was nothing that could cause this nut this exhausted appearance vanished as soon as Mundi saw his former padawan.

“You should go to our quarter to take your things as you will be given your own quarter now that you are a Knight.” Said Mundi but seeing Vaner not moving he continued “You can go first I need to talk with master Yoda”

Vaner nod before going but he clearly felt that something wasn’t right. His exhaust master outside of the room, moreover during the ceremony he could feel that Master Yoda and Master Windu were doing something different or more than the other Masters. It could be because of their rank in the order but with the state of his, Master Vaner starts to doubt.

Finally, Vaner decide not to think about it, he knew his master and he knew that he would never hurt him like this and even Yoda wouldn’t after what had happened yesterday so there was no need to think about it, for now, he just needs to keep this in a part of his mind in case he found something else.
