Star Wars New Order - Volume 1 Chapter 4 10 Years
Time slowly passes at the temple the once new Jedi initiate became trained and new initiate enters the order to make up for the one who finished their instruction.
Vaner was sitting cross leg in a meditation chamber with his training lightsaber on his lap. Vaner liked meditation as it made him free, he could freely travel in his own mind making him able to see again his favorites show, meditation help him understand the Force and probably thanks to the talent he asks the god he was in advance on his peers and had already started using the force to feel his surroundings.
In his current meditation, he was testing his new application of the force helping him sense what was happening in his surrounding, he had fast recognized that the lightsaber training without the use of their eyes also had use for this application of the force. In his meditation, he felt two aura he knew well, and it was coming for him, so he decides to stop.
Opening his eyes his black pupils scan the room before getting up, him standing revealed a tall and strong young man for his age as he was already 1.75 cm tall with well-developed muscle, way more than normal Jedi showing his hard physical training but while they were well developed they weren’t excessive and were well hidden under the ample cloth of the Jedi.
After getting up Vaner start to stretch and just as he finished his stretching the doors of his meditation room were open and a voice could be heard “Vaner what are you doing we’re going to be late because of you”.
Without even looking he knew who owned that voice “What are you saying Raskta you being here means we still have enough time” answered Vaner in a calm and mocking voice.
As Raskta was going to retort another voice cut in “Don’t start your bickering now or we will really miss the trial” which was none other than Bhak who also let out a sigh at this scene which happened more often since 2 or 3 years back.
Hearing Bhak Raskta stop before sending a ferocious gaze at Vaner who responds with a mocking smile causing Raskta to snort before going out of the room.
“You should really stop provoking her every time, you know how hot blood she is when you mock her” said Bhak seeing Raskta going outside
“Don’t worry she will forget about it in less than a minute like every time, moreover what is she stressed for, she is the only one of us to already have a Jedi master” said Vaner before following Raskta outside.
While they were walking toward the trial room Bhak and Raskta seemed a little tense and Vaner who didn’t seem tense at all was, in fact, quite stress at the idea of failing as he learned a few years back that time was playing against him.
Vaner wasn’t really knowledgeable about Star Wars before coming so he had no idea at what time he was sent but 3 years ago he finally found something telling him that the clone wars were coming. Two years ago, while he was sitting in the library reading a book about the uses of the Force in combat he saw a padawan passing by, at first he didn’t recognize him but he was sure he had seen him before but couldn’t put a name on the face.
He felt that he need to remember who he was but couldn’t so he decide to go ask him and he finally learned the name of the padawan he was Obi-Wan Kenobi, the one who would become the master of the chosen one Anakin Skywalker who would later become Darth Vader.
This meeting was like a loud bang awaking Vaner from his current life, he never really thought of the future but now knowing that wars were on its way he needed to train more to become strong enough to survive and he still had enough time as the child Anakin has still not been brought back.
From this day onward Vaner train whenever he had time be it his lightsaber combat, hi body or in the use of the Force. This change of lifestyle was clearly felt by everyone as the once bookworm always having top mark on written test fell in ranking but became the first in fighting related subjected who while they were always his favorite course they were those he spent the less time on as he found them easier.
This intensive training made him make fast progress at the beginning but in less than a year his progress speed slow down enormously as if he had lost the talent he had wished for from the god. This setback was however short-lived thanks to Raskta who had met her soon to be master, the Echani being few and Raskta being a good Jedi initiate the sole Echani Jedi of the order came to the temple to teach her about the Jedi way but more importantly about the Echani so their ethnic culture would not be ignored by the young Echani.
You see the Echani are a warrior race was combat was used in every aspect of their culture be it to greet someone, courting or even talking. Fighting and Echani was like one before the fall of there race and that’s what the Jedi Master taught Raskta, it was taught trough fighting obviously. Hand combat was the base of the Echani culture so they had their own martial art a martial art really special as it beside few existing basic forms developed individually by enlightenment during its practice making it totally unpredictable and making one Echani easily identifiable from another by his martial art. This martial made each user reveal his true self through its use.
While learning this art Raskta taught it to Bhak and Vaner and while Bhak abandoned really fast Vaner saw in it a chance to become stronger in this time of lack of progress, this martial art helped him recover his talent.
Jedi initiate training is mainly about oneself and to progress at the beginning in the use of Force you need to know yourself and Vaner had forgotten one side of himself which the Echani martial art revealed to him and while he still hadn’t reach a mastery level in it he often finds himself falling in meditation while practicing it. This side he had forgotten was his unquenchable greed for strength and freedom which had been put on a second plan with his Jedi training about control.
This rediscovery of himself made his connection to the Force stronger than before and as if the limiter that had been put on him had been removed his training speed rise sharply returning to its peak making him easily the strongest Jedi initiate.
What made him stressful however was how the Jedi would see him as it was easily seen that he seemed warmonger with his training and he thirst for strength so he didn’t know if any Jedi would want him as a padawan and while he still had time for being chosen before being refused the honor of becoming a Jedi he knew that failing know would mean his failure to become a Jedi as such nature couldn’t be changed easily even more while knowing war was near.
While the three Jedi initiate were making their way toward the trial room, the Jedi council was reunited.
“So, you’re saying that his way of training is wrong?” asked a black Jedi
“Yes, Master Windu, he does not seek progress he is seeking strength. While he is clearly the most talented of the Jedi initiate his way is to close to the dark side, so I suggest for him to not become a Padawan but to send him to the Jedi service corps”
“Then how is he outside from this training aspect?”
“Besides this problem he is a really good Jedi initiate Master Ki-Aki-Mundi, He is calm and thoughtful, I never saw him lose his composure until now so I think the Jedi service corps is the right place to send him instead of sending him out of the temple” answere the Jedi instructor.
“Hmm, a mistake you did make. In him, strong is the force, stronger than most. To the dark side, he will fall if away he is sent. Guiding him we must. A wise and strong master he needs.” Said Master Yoda who then closed his eyes while thinking. Seeing Yoda like this other Jedi kept silent waiting for his next sentence.
“To little time I have. To close to the dark side Mace Windu is” said Yoda as they were the strongest of the order, then turning to his right he said “Your mission it will be Ki-Adi-Mundi. This padawan in the right way you will guide”. Hearing Yoda the other Jedi nod thoughtfully as Ki-Adi-Mundi was the wisest after Yoda and one of the strongest in the order while not having a padawan.
However, Ki-Adi-Mundi was thoughtful about Yoda choice as will he was wise and strong he was not an exemplary Jedi as he was married and had more than one wife however he knew Yoda as he was his Master and knew that he saw things he couldn’t and knew things he didn’t.
“Since it was decided Master Ki-Adi-Mundi would teach him does he still need to go through the trials?” ask the instructor.
“No need for it there is, Ilum will be his test, success will make him a Jedi” said Yoda not ending his phrase but the master around him knew that failure would mean he wasn’t mean to be a Jedi and that would make him a threat to the galaxy.
