State of Chaos - Chapter 4:Crystal fish
Once Danny hit the water he felt as if his legs would break. His head turned white due to the sudden pain causing him to temporarily forget where he was.
Once he plunged into the depths of the lake he snapped back to reality and started to struggle towards to surface of the water moving his arms as fast as he could so he could get a breath of air. He was glad that he decided to go into the lake feet first because he knew that he would have been knocked unconscious otherwise. He struggled towards what he thought was the surface of the lake to try and get a breath of fresh air.
He was swimming, but he was still unable to reach the surface. Unable to tell up from down he just swam towards to top of his head hoping that was the way to the surface. After about thirty second of not getting anywhere his chest began to hurt due to the lack of oxygen, like the Grim Reaper himself was grasping his lungs depriving him of oxygen.
He forced himself to calm down and try to figure out his predicament. He was still unable to see the surface of the water. He knew he would surely drown if this kept up, so as a last ditch effort he decided to release some of his precious air. He knew if this didn’t work he would die, but if he did nothing he would die just the same.
He released the air bubbles and watched as they floated past his head and towards his right. Realizing he was positioned horizontal to the surface he thanked his lucky stars he wasn’t swimming deeper into the lake the whole time.
Following the air bubbles as fast as he could he began to see them as Angels reaching out their hands to him to give him sanctity. He progressively made his way to the surface of the lake and broke through to the air. He gasped for air as though someone would steal it from him if he took too long to breath it in. It took him a while before he got his breathing under control and he started to tread water.
Surveying his surrounding for the nearing source of land he saw an outcropping of rocks not to far from him. He began to swim over towards the rocks when he felt something bite onto his leg. He looked into the lake to see what was on his leg, when he saw a Crystal Fish pulling him towards the depths of the lake. It was covered in shiny blue crystals that protected its whole body. Danny was honestly surprised it could still swim in that condition.
He tried to swim towards the rocks faster to offset what the fish was doing, but quickly found out his attempts were futile. The Only two other options Danny had thought of was to either cut off his leg, or fight the fish. And as Danny quite liked his leg, and didn’t even have a knife on him, he decided to fight the fish.
Knowing the weak point of a fish was its gills, he punched it there as hard as he could hoping for it to release its bite. But sadly, the water slowed down his punch causing it to do little to no damage, not to mention the fish’s body was defended in crystals. Realizing that this wasn’t going to work he started to grab at anything he could on the fish hoping to inflict some harm onto it. Maybe he would poke its eye or some other weak spot.
As he was fumbling around in the water his hand caught hold onto something, seeing this as his last chance, Danny pulled on it with all his strength. Blood instantly filled the water clouding his vision. The bite on his leg was loosened and he quickly pulled his leg out from the fishes grasp. Finally he was free.
He began to swim towards the lake as fast as he could when he saw the Crystal Fish once again enter his vision. On the right side of it’s body where its gills were there was a chunk of its flesh missing with blood covering it’s body. Danny looked into the fished eyes and saw them full of hatred and malice.
Without any prior warning the fish swam towards him and rammed into Danny causing him to spit out blood. He had no time to dodge, the fish was just too fast. The fish began to ram into him from various angles. Going into Danny’s blind spots then hitting him when he was caught unawares. Eventually Danny began to loose consciousness due to blood loss. He figured he had at least a few broken ribs due to the impact of the fish and he knew this time he couldn’t escape.
As he was fading in and out of unconsciousness the water surrounding him suddenly grew ice cold. He felt as if he was suddenly thrown into the antarctic waters. The water began to go back into its original state when Danny felt someone tugging on his arm pulling him to shore. Unable to withstand the pain Danny’s vision turned black, loosing consciousness once more.
