Strict Wife of the ’70s Manages the Household - CH 374
Han Qingsong immediately let out a low laugh before he pushed the bicycle into the south room.
After entering the room, he took off his frosted clothes and threw them on the big tank. Lin Lan had already poured some warm water for him to wash his face and hands.
After washing, he took off his socks and washed his feet with the water.
Lin Lan had already lit a fire again to warm up his meal.
Han Qingsong said, “I can eat it cold.”
If the alternative was troubling her, he felt that he might as well finish eating at the County.
“Don’t say such things again. Eating cold food on an empty stomach? You won’t feel it now since you’re still young, but if you get older and become sick, I would have to take care of you all the time, wouldn’t I?” Lin Lan quickly lit the fire. WIth such a big pot, his meal was warmed in no time.
Although she always felt that she was always saying nice things to coax him, she didn’t know if this time, she was trying to get him to improve his mood or if she genuinely cared. At any rate, she didn’t mind either option as well.
The fact remained that as long as he treated her well, she would return the favour.
Han Qingsong felt a sweet emotion emerge from the bottom of his heart, but that change of feeling couldn’t be seen from his expression. Even so, his emotions seemed to be barely capped by his gaze, threatening to ooze out at the slightest crack.
Lin Lan told him about the distribution of rations today, the amount of work points divided and how much she had to subsidise with money.
Han Qingsong, “Was the money enough?”
Lin Lan said with a smile, “You earn so much, so of course it’s enough! Our family is supported by your salary. Other families don’t have this much money and their work points aren’t sufficient either, so it’s hard on them.”
She didn’t mention anything about Zhao Guilian and the others’ sulking faces or their attitude.
Han Qingsong said, “I will come back more often to help you work in the future.”
The money was enough for food, but it would eventually not be sufficient to purchase other items, especially when he had 4 to 5 kids that pursued an education.
He also wanted to buy her a pair of new leather shoes. However, he didn’t mention it for fear that she would tell him not to spend money indiscriminately.
…
Lin Lan thought that he would be tired after coming back at such a late hour. She expected him to retire to bed after washing up and talking for a bit, but she didn’t think that there were other things that were promptly carried out in the night.
Sigh, she understood that he worked really hard, but he always had the strength to carry out his desires, using the process as a way to de-stress. At this rate, Lin Lan was worried about whether they would suffer from health issues once they got older in the future.
The next day, Han Qingsong went to the county while Lin Lan went to work, drying some sweet potatoes.
Drying sweet potatoes wasn’t a tiring task, but Lin Lan was a little apprehensive.
They would use a wooden board that was more than a metre long with an opening in one of its ends. There, a blade would be nailed on it firmly. A worker would sit on the board and hold the sweet potato with both hands before starting to skin and slice it with the blade, swiping it left and right.
Those who were skilled at the craft were undeterred, but those who weren’t as adept at it would feel their scalps tingling. The blade was sharp and sleek, so if it were to accidentally come into contact with the workers’ hands, the wound would definitely bleed profusely.
Lin Lan really wasn’t that great in this aspect.
