Strongest Shinobi - Volume 1 Chapter 28 Undercurrents
Once back, Izana immediately summoned his Panthers and Toads. He ordered the panthers to find out who were agreeing with the coup, while he sent a message to Jiraiya with the help of the toad.
It was time to find out what was happening to cause the coup, how to prevent it, and if it was impossible to stop it, how to protect the innocent and his loved ones.
He hadn’t heard from Itachi in a while, so he had to find other sources of information. He could try to get information from his uncle, though the chance he would speak with him about it was relatively small.
The only other choice from the Uchiha in the residence would be his aunt. If he proclaimed his case hard enough, she might tell him how it all started. From there Izana could work his way out to think of something to stop it. If that all didn’t work, he would need enough standing to dissuade the Uchiha from rebelling. There wouldn’t be anything good coming from it if they did.
Izana went inside and was immeidately greeted by the ever smiling face of his aunt Mikoto. Like usual she’d ask how his day had been, asking about how the exam was, any hardsh.i.p.s and if he’d gotten hurt.
After assuring her he wasn’t, they both spent time together eating lunch.
Izana waited for the right time to ask her about the coup and he didn’t have to wait long. After he had spoken most of the time about the exam, Izana shocked Mikoto when he asked her about the happenings inside the residence. He even mentioned about Shisui and what he’d heard from him.
Mikoto listened to Izana, still a bit shaked from what he asked her, but as soon as he came to the important part, Mikoto firmly hugged Izana as she apologized to him with tears in her eyes.
“I’m sorry, Izana! This burden shouldn’t be for you to bear. We’ve tried so hard to avoid it, but it seems it has already affected others. It’s almost impossible to stop it anymore. Even your uncle has been exhausted to even try to stop it.”
Izana patted his aunt on the back as the tears were still spilling from her eyes.
“I know, aunt. I don’t blame any of you. From what Shisui told me, it was bound to happen. I still wanted to know how it got this far though. How can they belief they are helping themselves with this? Don’t they even realise they are only creating more problems? Instead of talking it out with the council and the Third, they plan to overthrow the Third? Are they so blinded that they don’t see the repercussions they invoke with this rebellion.”
Izana said as his anger rose. This whole situation was just wrong.
“If the Third is forced to step down, a lot of panic will occur. The Uchiha will almost certainly fall back to using violance, crippiling a lot of Konoha’s strength. As soon as other villages notice, the possibility of war is as good as certain. They are only leading the Uchiha towards their downfall.” Izana couldn’t belief how short sighted the Uchiha had become.
“Aunt. Tell me how this happened.” Izana said as he looked with pleading eyes at his aunt. Inside his eyes, Mikoto could feel the slightest hint of despair, the fear of losing something.
She patted him assuringly on the head, a faint and sad smile on her face as she began to tell Izana to main cause of the coup.
“Since the Kyuubi’s attack, the villagers have seen the Uchiha as the main reason. Our occular power is one that could control the tailed beast. The villagers belief the Uchiha were the ones controlling the Kyuubi. Even the council of Konoha doubted the Uchiha and as good as banished us from the centre of Konoha to the outskirts. Due to this isolation and sense of being surveillance, the dissent amongst the Uchiha is only growing stronger by the day. They belief it’s all the fault of the government of the village, as it was originally made by the Senju.”
Mikoto took a sip of her tea to wet her throat and continued.
“I don’t think you know this, but long ago before the village was founded, the Uchiha had been at war with the Senju for a long time. There were many fierce battles and both sides were heavily wounded. A truce was made and the heads of both clans build Konoha to ensure for peace. Though the peace lasts even to this day, the Uchiha are regaining their hatred against the Senju. They want a place where they won’t be hated and can take part in the governing of konoha, as the Uchiha have mostly been left out.”
After Mikoto had explained the whole background and roots of the Uchiha, Izana understood that there was more at play than he first thought. This was smoldring hatred that had been rekindled by the mistrust and hatred they felt from the villagers and the council of Konoha.
It wasn’t surprising that the Uchiha had become sick of being treated this way.
Even he had felt the painful and resentful glares being cast his way. Still, there were better ways to go about this. The way things were going now, it would only lead to mutual destruction.
Izana thanked his aunt for telling him and began to think about this a bit more. He needed a bit of insight from people that weren’t from the Uchiha, nor from the biased council. He needed the perspective of his teacher as he seemed to see things in a more clarifying, though also distinct way.
Izana waited for the toad to return and as soon as it did, with a message from Jiraiya, he went towards his teacher, hoping to get an unclouded view of the situation and a change of perspective.
