Stronghold In The Apocalypse - Chapter 255
Meanwhile, inside the hospital.
Bella, Darius, Austin and another two survivors who grouped up together are currently exploring the seventh floor, while the other two groups are exploring through the six and eight floors.
Carl followed the least numbered group to the six floor and let them search the rooms one by one, while he looked around the place by himself.
He was already used to this as when they were still operating in Manchester, they would explore one floor of a building and take care of any threats on that floor by themselves.
Compared to this where he wasn’t alone, that previous experience would be much worse as it would test your ability to survive by yourself.
Ting! Clang~!
Bella threw an empty can inside a dimly lit hospital ward to see if it gets any reaction from any zombies hiding out of sight.
“Nothing, let’s sweep it again to make sure” said Bella as she was the first one to enter the ward, followed by the others.
They checked every nook and cranny of the place with the flashlights attached to their weapons.
“Clear!”
“Clear!”
“Clear!”
“…”
Seeing that there are no immediate threats inside, Bella and the rest of the team quickly cleared out the remaining scattered medicines or anything useful inside before heading to the next ward and did the same actions from earlier by throwing empty cans inside the wards.
Surprisingly, there were no zombies on the entire floor at all even when they were causing a lot of ruckus, which made the empty can strategy useless.
“Did you guys get everything that’s useful?” Darius came walking over to the group at the center of the floor with a rucksack over his shoulders.
“Yeah, we’ve taken every medicine and anything useful we could find” replied Austin with a bulging backpack on his backpack while cautiously looking around them.
The group then started chatting amongst themselves as they slowly headed to the stairs leading towards the next floor above.
Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!
But then from out of nowhere, the group suddenly felt the building shaking followed by the sound of yelling from the floor below, startling them and the other group on the eight floor.
“Retreat to the upper floors now!”
Rumble! Bang!
“What are you f*ckers doing!? Retreat!”
“Sh*t! Lin, I need backup here! There’s a Charger that got lured up from below, over!””
Bella and the others could not only hear Carl’s yelling, the team at the eight floor could also hear him because he was also yelling at the intercom.
A couple of minutes earlier.
A hulking monster on the fourth floor seems to be sleeping as it just kept standing before a wall, not doing anything.
Then its eyes abruptly opened, revealing a pair of blood red eyes filled with menace.
This hulking monster of a zombie then slowly made his way over to the stairs that lead to the fifth floor.
Arriving at the foot of the stairs, the monster slowly walked up until it reached the fifth floor and like earlier, it stood before the foot of the stairs that leads to the sixth floor, where the search team led by Carl are exploring the floor.
Standing there, the zombie could now clearly hear the ruckus happening on top of it and it revealed a look of hunger and madness.
Bam!
Then it charged through the steps with heavy footsteps, and slammed onto the wall, creating a large hole and causing the building to slightly shake.
While Carl, who was making his way to the rest of the group, suddenly felt the building shaking, followed by the sound of concrete exploding!
Carl then saw the rest running over towards his direction and yelled at them, “Retreat to the upper floors now!”
Rumble!
Then the shaking came again, and this time, Carl and the others saw a hulking shadow emerging from the stairs and came crashing through inside one of the hospital wards!
Bang!
Experienced as he is, Carl couldn’t help but widen his eyes in shock when he recognized that hulking figure, and he quickly looked towards the people still rooted on the spot as they looked at the monster with eyes wide open and couldn’t help but angrily yell at them.
“What are you f*ckers doing!? Retreat!”
Then he pressed the radio attached on his shoulder and shouted, “Sh*t! Lin, I need backup here! There’s a Charger that got lured from the lower floors, over!”
Seeing that the people were still dumbly staring at the monster who was slowly getting its bearings while shaking its head, Carl yelled at them again and couldn’t help but have the impulse to shoot them!
“Motherf*ckers! Run!!!”
“But-”
With his yell, they finally woke up from their daze and hesitated when they heard his order.
Seeing their reluctance to leave him behind, he was slightly satisfied that this group of rascals still have conscience inside them, but seeing that the monster is finally waking up from its dazed state, he once again shouted at them angrily, “No buts! You’ll just be a burden to me!”
Followed by his actions of aiming his weapon at the monster, and opened fire towards it!
Pratatata!
The mini gatling attached to his right hand exosuit showed its might, striking the monster and its surrounding, but because of its thick skin, the bullets proved to be ineffective and only caused light bruises.
The monster might have bullet immunity, but that doesn’t mean that it couldn’t feel pain.
So it quickly turned its attention to the small creature attacking him, and was quickly angered especially when it saw the large group of prey running away from it!
When Carl saw its actions, he cursed, “Sh*t..”
He quickly stopped shooting at the monster and hurriedly jumped towards the hospital ward to his left, while the charging behemoth came crashing through the adjacent ward, destroying its entire wall in the process.
Carl quickly stood up while cursing, “F*ck, why is this damn bulldozer freaking here?!”
He quickly ran out of the ward and was quick to notice Bella and Austin emerging from the stairs at the other side of the building.
“Sir, we’re here!”
“Great! I’ll distract it, and you guys quickly take it down!”
