Stronghold In The Apocalypse - Chapter 268: Beasts Troop
“Roar! Roar!”
The gorillas at the very front were the first to suffer the onslaught of the hail of bullets as they angrily roared in anger and used one arm to cover their heads while they continued advancing with their remaining limbs, albeit their speed had slowed down by a notch.
Bullets after bullets was continuously ejected from the gun barrels as they whizzed towards the charging monsters and struck them, but it seemed quite futile because the bullets only managed to penetrate half an inch on their tough skins like rubber before losing their lethality and falling to the ground, flattened by the rampaging monsters!
“F*ck! Go down!!!”
“Just f*cking fall!”
The survivors were slightly thrown off with a little panic in their hearts when they saw that their attacks seemed to be ineffective to the monsters, and started yelling in their anger as they madly shot at them, emptying multiple magazines in under a minute.
A couple of them just wanted to get up and run away, but when they saw the cold looking man standing near them, these notions were immediately crushed, and he wasn’t even looking at them!
But the man was already able to scare them into overriding their fear from the charging monsters, and forced them to stay put and continue their job that they were assigned for!
A clear indication that these people had already witnessed the fearsome might of these special soldiers.
Darius’s eyes flashed with a glint as he immediately left the formation in an abrupt manner that it distracted the others, but didn’t say anything as the team leader didn’t even say anything and just watched him from the corner of his eye as Darius opened the emergency exit door of the bus and went inside in a hurry and picked up something lying on one of the seats.
“Let’s see if those bastards still won’t go down!” Darius laughed as he quickly got down from the bus after reloading a rocket-propelled grenade with an ammo!
“Hahaha! Die you bastards!”
Psshhht!
Darius maniacally laughed and pressed the trigger as the rocket was ejected and flew towards the charging beasts with a trail of blazing smoke!
KABOOM!
The troops were on the final leg of reaching the survivors when the rocket fired by Darius landed in the middle of the troop and exploded!
But the desired outcome the survivors wanted to see didn’t happen as the gorilla at the forefront of the group just angrily slapped the rocket sideways as it exploded before its face upon contact!
“Owh shoot!”
One of the survivors uttered those words as he realized they’ve f*cked trying to kill these monsters using just guns!
“Keep firing! Don’t stop even if it destroys your weapon!”
Darius immediately yelled when he saw the survivors ceasing their assault. So he quickly threw the RPG on the ground as he once again grabbed his rifle and started shooting the gorillas, which quickly followed by the rest!
Their team leader had a change of expression when he saw how the gorilla easily deflected that rocket and was barely hurt from it, and just as he was about to step up to engage them.
“I’ll help!”
“We’re done on our side!”
And like a rain coming to a drought stricken land, Bella, Austin and the other soldiers appeared just in time to save the day!
Seeing them, the team leader was quickly relieved as he immediately issued orders, “Bella, Austin and Mag, with me! Darius and the rest, cover our backs! Move out!”
“Yes sir!”
With a yell, the team leader and the other three quickly charged towards the charging beasts with ferocious momentum while Darius and the rest of the ordinary survivors covered their back by picking off any of the zombies swarming towards them from different directions!
“Peter! Come on, I’ll give you a boost!”
Darius had once again disengaged from the formation and ran back to the bus and leaned his back against it with his knees bent in a squat and aligned it wit
h his interlocked fingers and palms facing upwards.
Then the survivor named Peter stopped firing and turned his head around and saw what Darius was doing and immediately figured out what his intentions were as he quickly slid his assault rifle towards his back and ran towards Darius.
Thud! Thud!
Peter stepped on Darius’s hands as he used the acceleration from his run and with a boost from Darius, he easily grabbed the edge of the roof of the vehicle and pulled himself up on top of the bus.
“Next! Hurry it up! Peter, make sure to cover up the blindspots from up there!”
Another survivor followed after what Peter did and successfully made his way up the bus as Peter pulled him up, and both of them immediately continued shooting, with Peter shooting down the zombies that could interfere the fight between Bella’s group and the troop of gorillas, while the other survivor was moving around on top of the bus and shooting the zombies near their location.
“Mag!”
The last survivor quickly followed suit, leaving behind Darius below.
Being the only one left, Darius ran a few meters away from the bus before turning around and charging towards it as a few zombies behind him tried to reach out to him.
“Peter!”
Darius yelled towards the man half kneeling at the edge with one hand reaching out to him and the other being grabbed by Mag.
“Come on!”
“It’s jammed! Hurry up!”
Peter yelled towards Darius, followed by another yell from the survivor covering them as he pounded the gun multiple times, and with no other choice, the man immediately pulled out his handgun and started shooting the zombies around them.
Slap!
Darius ran and stepped on the rear bumper of the bus and jumped and grabbed Peter’s outstretched hand and successfully pulled him up!
“That was close!”
Peter said panting as he peeked at the zombies pounding the bus below.
“Thanks!” said Darius.
“No worries, it was your idea in the first place”
Peter replied with a smile on his face as they resumed covering the backs of people in the distance.
With how much commotion they are causing, it is incredible that they only attracted two mutated zombies so far, as it’s either almost all of the mutated zombies in the surroundings have joined the nest or they’re incredibly lucky so far, where the former is bad news for the survivors.
On the other hand, as the scenes between Darius and the others are taking place, Bella and the others are engaged in a heated battle against the troop of gorillas.
Roar! Swoosh!
A gorilla angrily roared and whipped its arms towards Bella with so much force behind that the sound of air being torn could be heard!
“Sh*t!”
Bella saw the attack and immediately ducked down in a hurry, but her ordeal wasn’t over yet as another beast suddenly appeared from her side and was pouncing at her with both fists raised in the air, planning to smash her to the ground!
“Aerial Shield!”
She could only curse and prepare her body for the inevitable when an urgent voice suddenly echoed behind her and a circular wall made of wind appeared between her and the beast.
BAM!
The beast slammed on it like a little bird unknowingly smashing on a glass wall, but the attack on Bella didn’t cease as the first gorilla didn’t hesitate to follow up with its attack and tried to ram its humongous body against her!
“Crap!”
Bella quickly crossed her arms before her chest as the beast sent her flying for several meters in a parabola.
Bam! Bam!
Her back painfully landed on the ground, followed by a couple of rolls before regaining her balance like a quadrupedal animal.
“Sh*t! Bella!”
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Austin cursed when he saw
her flying past her like a ragdoll and ran towards her while shooting at the gorilla coming after him.
And surprisingly, the two soldiers are actually holding their ground against five gorillas, with one of them, even the leader!
It goes to show how many battles they had already experienced that they weren’t even flustered facing beasts twice or thrice their size!
“It seems they are having a hard time, let’s finish this fast”
Both soldiers quickly stopped firing their minigun while distancing themselves from the monsters as they whipped their right arm downwards, and came out the blade hidden on the arm part of the exo suit.
