Struggle Of Love - Chapter 11 Lunch With My Trio
POV: Sai
I was late by five minutes and the class has already started. I wanted to be late. It was a way to avoid those two loud idiots. Now that I have roamed a little around the campus on the fresh morning air without really trying to be in their sight, I can happily go take my class till noon. At lunch I will have to deal with them.
I silently entered the class and sat at an empty place at the back. Somewhere in the middle of the lecture Aodh turned back and saw me. I could see it through my peripheral view but I ignored him. A second later Gaia, who is sitting beside Ao turned to take a look at me.
As the class finished, we met. Ao was upset. Poor boy.
“Today’s class must have been futile to you?” Ai asked. That’s short for Gaia. We’re kind of “the famous trio” within our peer group. “Sai-Ai-Ao.”
“Yup, this whole weeks going to be like that.”
“You are that ahead?”
I nod and turn to Ao. “Ao, you are worse than a girlfriend.”
“Nay,” he said in a flat tone.
“Fine, just talk when you want to,” I say as we carried on with our lunch.
Then, suddenly my phone rang. It was a different ringtone from usual. It could be James, I thought. But soon I notice that it’s his wife, Jessica as I answer the call.
“We’re meeting tomorrow. Come if you want. I’ll text you the address.” That was harsh. What is this lady’s problem? Please, May was first friends with me, then her. She’s a self-centred person.
I mimic her cold tone as I reply, glad, at least she didn’t hang up before I reply. “Is everyone informed?” I enquired.
“Of course. You are the last because I barely want you to be there, Sai, you just-”
I could hear the phone being snatched away. After I hear some footsteps, I hear them speak again.
“Sai, how are you?” James spoke with his soft tone.
“How do you live with her?”
“She does not mean it Sai . . . So, how are things?”
“Is she with you?”
“No . . .”
“Good. Things are the same and I’m doing fine. And why do I know things now? I bet she’s told everyone before a week. At least you could have, you know . . .”
“Just come okay. She planned just two days ago. Others were informed only yesterday, Sai.”
“Okay . . . ask your wife not to speak to me next me.”
“Alright then, and we’ll meet.”
“Bye bro.” I say and cut the call.
“So, meeting May possibly?” Ai asked. Both know about her and a little about the rest all too. I love talking about my school even if it’s rare.
Thinking of his question, “I . . . forgot to ask,” I say. Immediately after, we hear a painful sound from beside. Ao’s hand was on his forehead. I removed it to find his pale skin that contrasted very much with his dark hair was a fleshy light shade of red.
“God Ao, you okay?” Ai said as he leaned on the table to reach the victim of their own deed.
“Why are you not serious about anything, Sai?” Ai said very seriously.
“She’ll be there. But please, you should keep up your composure. Your mood-swings are worse than-”
“No, they’re not-”
“He agrees on having mood swings then,” Ai commented and I joined in laughter along with him.
“I’m not talking to any of you.”
“That is what we were talking about.” And we laughed more.
“But Sai, do solve things with your girl soon. Keeping sad things going on and on won’t help anyone.” Yup, brotherly advice from Gaia. Either this or talk about the other girl that’s pursuing me. They really don’t have other jobs.
“See, that’s what I was trying to say too. And then, he isn’t even sure if she’s coming!” Ao complains.
“You’re talking, you know . . . Anyway, as always, I will try.” I say as we close the topic.
I want to just go home and speak to my brother. But if these idiots come to know that I am going home again, it won’t really be good. I should just go when tomorrow comes. After all, it’s just May, the girl I have known for years, the girl who has been a better friend to me than my brother too, sometimes and the girl who crushed over me, I told myself. But there are more real and realistic facts about her. I will have to try. That’s what Kai said too. And so I realised that I was indeed waiting for tomorrow.
