Stuck as a Villain! - Chapter 187: Nearing the truth
“So are we going to ignore the fact that Saito tried killing you twice by now?” Generally, when you say things like these, you say it behind the back of the person you are accusing.
However, Maydeath knew no such tactics and the only fact that mattered to her was Seth’s safety. And in the presence of this young violet head, neither of the females could let their guard down.
“You sure have become true to your feelings, Miyuki..or should I say, Maydeath now?” A completely healed, Saito asked with his hands resting over his waist and a toothy grin splitting his lips.
Arata sighed at that, while Maydeath remained silent.
Seth stepped into the conversation, given how it could escalate in no time, as he asked the younger-looking male, “How are you in possession of a new body? Last time, you were talking to me as Professor Ethan.”
Seth still remembered the blond professor he had to kill since the soul possessing the body was trying to kill, not only Seth but Haruka as well.
Seth had suspicions that Saito might not be dead, more so, when Celine affirmed that she found something unusual transpiring on the same day, Seth killed Ethan.
And as Seth thought, “My soul was transferred to another vessel since I wasn’t destined to die. Quite funny, right?”
Arata frowned at that before asking, “And…how did the transition occur this time? Was this body in your complete control?”
Now that he mentioned it, Seth was reminded how only he was able to suppress the soul of the original Seth, unlike the other transmigrators.
“Yeah…like the boy was pretty beat up when I overtook. Nearly on the verge of death.”
Arata nodded, seemingly receiving what he desired to hear. The emotional wavelength of the vessels decides whether overtaking their bodies would be possible or not.
Anabelle remained silent up until now, but considering the fact that the day was about to fall, she urged, “Shouldn’t we get done with the vault and retreat to a safe place? This location…is giving me bad vibes for some reason.”
Recently, she has been introduced to a phenomenon that cannot be influenced by soul energy, and that was enough to make Anabelle a little uneasy. Not to talk about the eerie stillness of this forest was keeping her at the edge.
“I second to that. This place indeed seems a little too silent.” Arata supported Anabelle’s request while gazing around the forest, which gave away not a single sign of inhabitants.
Seth nodded as he wore a jacket he took out from his inventory and looked toward the cave,
“Let’s see, what’s in there that required a guardian out of the blue.”

As the group walked toward the cave door, Arata couldn’t help asking Saito, “You seriously don’t have any idea about what brought you here?” Since they were walking in the rear, Arata believed he was being heard by Saito, only.
Saito shook his head before responding, “I just woke up in this place with my leg chained up and a weapon to practice. Trust me, I still don’t have any idea why I don’t require any food or sleep to survive.”
This information…was vital for Seth. He had a suspicion the ascended beings were now interfering with the world, and hearing Saito’s words, his suspicion was turning true.
Regardless, he decided to think about that stuff for a later date since at the moment, his focus was required on the vault…and seemingly, any clue that could lead him to Laila.
Reaching the grand entrance, Seth levitated high in the air and took out the three pieces of treasure key, he had stored in his inventory.
Placing every piece at it’s place, it didn’t take long before,
*TREMBLE*
The surface began to shake at a violent pace, but being superhuman, none of the five seemed surprised by the effect as they stood side by side near the entrance with a severe look.
The door of the vault slowly parted with a loud screeching voice of rusted metal scraping against the floor. The loud irritating voice ushered Anabelle to cover her ear before the gate finally parted enough for the group to walk in.
The screeching stopped once all of them walked in, making Anabelle sigh in relief.
“Luminous.” Maydeath chanted a basic spell that ignited a small flame at the top of her index finger, helping them to navigate through the darkness.
However, just as she stepped a meter forward, the flame got sucked away instantly, urging Maydeath to turn her head in the direction where the flame flew to.
“Is that an artifact?” Arata wondered loudly as the flame, which once danced in Maydeath’s control, was now placed above a lamp, igniting a part of the place.
Soon Maydeath raised her palm and conjured several flame balls and in the same fashion, they got sucked away, simultaneously.
The scene in front of them began to clear up as Seth scrutinized his eyes to look around.
“This seems…like a palace.” The gallery was heavily emphasized on the decoration and the surface was also covered by a red carpet. However, because this place was seemingly abandoned, everything was coated with layers of dust.
The chandeliers have lost their luster. The painting on either side of the lobby is no longer visible except for some vague detailing. There were six paintings in total even though the gallery was so long.
Seth didn’t pay much mind to it and moved along with the group toward the front.
Maydeath has a high Soul resource so chanting multiple flame balls continuously, didn’t tire her out. The slow-moving group finally came to a halt when the whole place was in clear view.
Maydeath lowered her hand and along with others, looked at the front.
The aisle was occupied with the most expected arrangement. Thrones.
However, unlike what a regular assembly holds, this one had six thrones in all…and one of them was occupied.
By none other than, Laila.
