Subscriber of the Gods - Chapter 112: Shortest Period Again
“You definitely said you’d grant anything, right? I believe you’ll keep your promise, my friend.”
Principal looked at Sword Saint and said.
Sword Saint let out a small groan, as if he hadn’t expected Ethan to make this kind of request.
Clearly, Ethan was a skilled swordsman.
If he was that skilled, he would have asked to be shown his swordsmanship.
In fact, Sword Saint had told some young swordsmen before that he would grant their requests.
When they heard that, every single swordsman wanted him to observe their swordsmanship.
There were no exceptions.
So this was a definite opportunity to see Ethan’s skills.
Seeing Sword Saint’s lukewarm reaction, Ethan opened his mouth with a composed expression.
“You said you’d grant anything you could, but if it’s something you can’t do, that’s fine. It could be a difficult request.”
His attitude seemed to say ‘forget it if you can’t do it’ and he didn’t look regretful at all.
The Sword Saint of the world said he’d grant a request, yet he was reacting so half-heartedly, and Ethan didn’t have a shred of regret?
Suddenly, the Sword Saint’s eyes lit up.
This was a matter of his pride.
Moreover, he could feel the other’s sincerity in his reaction, making him even more frustrated.
“I’ll do it.”
Sword Saint nodded and answered.
“For your class. As a guest lecturer. I’ll go when you want.”
“If you do that, I’ll be incredibly grateful. The students will love it so much if you, Sword Saint, come give a lecture. The Swordsmanship Department students will become even more passionate about training, and be able to contribute to Ivecar Academy.”
Only then did the Sword Saint recall again that Ethan was a teacher.
Seeing him brace his aura and act rather boldly made the Sword Saint briefly forget he was a teacher.
Ethan was a swordsman, but also a teacher.
His first wish wasn’t to become stronger himself, but for the students to receive proper education and become stronger.
“Very good. It’s a splendid idea.”
Thinking that, the Sword Saint looked at Ethan again.
“My worthless grandson has met too great a rival.”
“I’m maintaining a good relationship with Teacher Ciron Ramsdale. For Ivecar Academy’s development.”
“Hmm, I almost want to tell him to go to another academy, but he can still develop greatly by your side. Well met.”
Saying so, the Sword Saint handed Ethan a small blue gem with a faint smile.
Seeing that, the Principal asked in surprise.
“You’re giving away something so precious?”
“I’ll take it back anyway. I could just promise verbally and go back on it. So I should give something like this.”
Receiving the gem, Ethan smiled slightly.
‘A verbal promise would have been enough. He’s not the sort who’d break it. But still, giving me this means…’
He wants to continue the connection.
This blue gem was a fragment of the giant blue gem embedded in the head of a dragon the Sword Saint had slain.
‘I think there’s a little over ten known ones.’
He had given one to Ethan.
Although he said he’d take it back, the important thing was that he had given it for now.
“See you again, talented junior.”
-Survival probability slightly increased!
‘An unexpected gain.’
After Sword Saint left, Principal let out a big sigh.
“Sorry about that, Teacher Ethan. The Sword Saint suddenly visiting, you see.”
The Principal smiled wryly and apologized to Ethan, then invited him to sit.
“It’s alright. Thanks to this, I got to experience a bit of Sword Saint’s strength, and I received this too.”
Ethan sat across from the Principal and put the blue gem in his breast pocket.
“It’ll come in handy next semester.”
“It’s the Sword Saint of the world. Even if you ask, he said he wouldn’t come to our Ivecar. He’s never done anything like a lecture anywhere else until now.”
“Then this is the first time.”
“The first time! Right, who knew that prickly old man would give a lecture here. Hahahaha!”
Thinking about it again, the Principal laughed heartily.
“I delayed too much time. Anyway, Teacher Ethan, I called you to talk about the inter-department competition.”
Principal coughed a few times, then got to the main point.
“Teacher Claudie is a quite promising professor at Ivecar. He already has 7 years of experience, and there’s talk he’ll become Ivecar’s youngest master. Since Teacher Claudie came to Ivecar, he’s won against Freya Academy several times.”
Meanwhile, Ethan had just become a new teacher.
“But as you know well, right? If we just go by that, there’s no need for competition.”
The Principal said with a grin.
“Since you’ve decided to compete. Also, you currently have two classes, and a new class you’re trying to open, right?”
Then it was fine to see it as him being in charge of a total of three classes.
Having three classes was similar to the number Claudie had. It was far more than other professors with 3+ years of experience.
“The number of students you teach has already exceeded 100, and the students should be able to come find you.”
Ethan realized the Principal wasn’t trying to have an in-depth talk about the inter-department competition.
‘He’s already going to give it to me. The conditions are met, I knew I’d get it after first semester ends.’
Ethan smiled slightly at the Principal.
“You’re trying to give me something good.”
“There may be some backlash, but considering your accomplishments so far, the backlash shouldn’t be too big. If there’s any backlash, I have no reason to care about it. Since I’m the Principal, right?”
The Principal rummaged through a drawer and took out a silver key, handing it to Ethan.
“Congratulations, Teacher Ethan. You will now have your own office.”
Ivecar’s professors were assigned offices after some time passed. Years of experience were important, but they first had to meet the standards the academy had set.
If they didn’t meet the conditions, even if they were assigned an office, it would be a very small office.
“Not a single teacher with the new teacher label has received one. Teacher Claudie included. You’re the first.”
There was no precedent of new teachers at Ivecar being assigned an office in their first year.
Ethan was the first.
Ethan smiled and bowed his head.
“Thank you, Principal.”
-You’ve received a personal office in the shortest time period!
-You’ve acquired your own exclusive space at the academy.
-Achievement accomplished!
-Gained Likes for accomplishing the [My Own Space] achievement.
-Obtained ‘2’ Likes!
-Your reputation has increased!
“I’ll be relying on you, Teacher Ethan.”
Ethan immediately headed to his new office.
Ethan’s office was in an area with several teachers’ offices clustered together.
‘There’s a shared office space, and personal offices you can use alone.’
Ivecar had an area just for teachers, divided into offices and shared offices.
The shared offices were called department-shared offices, used jointly by the teachers of each department.
In contrast, the personal offices were independent spaces assigned to individual teachers.
“Number 5002.”
Ethan headed to Sky Building 5002.
He went up the building with quite an excited heart. After all, he was curious about the size of the office.
Teachers who met the conditions were all assigned offices, but the size of the office assigned varied based on results and position.
For instance, Claudie Hyde’s office was extremely large.
The size of a personal office indirectly indicated what position they held and how much influence they had within the academy.
[5002]
Ethan opened the door and went inside.
“Oh.”
What met his eyes was a fairly spacious area.
“With this much, it’s obvious what the Principal thinks of me. Giving an office to a new teacher is one thing, but with this size, isn’t this bigger than Claudie’s office?”
It was understandable for the Principal to quietly call Ethan in to give him an office.
If he had openly given an office of this size to a new teacher, the backlash would have been considerable.
It was that big of an office.
As Ethan stepped into the office, a notification appeared right away.
[Housing System]
-You can decorate your office.
-Current office aesthetics score: 1
-Default state.
“It’s been a while.”
The housing system.
Also called My Home, this system was literally a decorate-your-home feature. In a way, it was a cutesy element, so some people didn’t like it, but Ethan enjoyed this system.
He hadn’t decorated his actual home, but lived lavishly decorating his in-game home.
‘I kinda like this housing in secret. Plus, you can stack up a good number of achievements.’
The office was simple.
There was a chair and desk, along with a small sofa and large bookshelf, seemingly the basic furniture provided.
It had the basic furniture, but it felt spacious because of how large it was.
“Let’s try what I’ve been thinking about.”
Ethan immediately opened New World.
When he first received the Eye of Horus merchandise in the New World, he had thought of something.
Originally, most merchandise was just collection items.
‘Meaning items you collect. Used more to cherish and appreciate than use.’
Of course, there was merchandise like clothes and accessories too, but he didn’t need that now.
Ethan was thinking of buying merchandise from New World to decorate his office.
-The gods you’re subscribed to have new notifications.
Ethan immediately checked the new notifications.
He couldn’t help but laugh.
-Hong Gil-dong has registered new merchandise.
-Horus has registered new merchandise.
-Heracles has uploaded a new video!
“Of course, they’d have merchandise. They wouldn’t have been able to properly make merchandise without Likes, but now they have plenty of Likes thanks to me.”
Rather than looking at the merchandise right away, Ethan decided to leave a subscription review for Hang Woo first.
When practicing Supreme Resilience this time, he was able to produce a video of fairly high quality.
‘Hang Woo is already a god many subscribers are subscribed to. A common subscription video has no meaning.’
What could be gained from subscribing to Hang Woo was tremendous power.
That power was very simple, and unlike Heracles, he intuitively explained that power.
Of course, even if it was intuitive, if you didn’t understand the subtlety explained in the video, you would only gain a superficial grasp of the power and be unable to properly raise your proficiency.
‘But it can’t be denied that it’s easy.’
However, Ethan had subscribed to Hang Woo with the keyword ‘defense’.
“Looking at it, there’s nothing.”
Among Hang Woo’s subscription reviews or posts in the subscriber community, there was no mention of Hang Woo being a god specialized in defense.
Most were filled with talk of using that mighty power to destroy a castle, or lifting and moving a mountain 300 meters.
‘So I just need to dig where others aren’t thinking about.’
Offense and defense as one. That was Hang Woo’s identity.
Properly conveying that would let him gain far more subscribers and Likes than now.
First, Ethan left a message in the subscription review section that only Hang Woo could see.
-I will leave a subscription review.
