Sunshine - Chapter 10 In His Hear
It was Monday.
Jimin felt refreshed. After finally taking a 48-hour break from his 120-hour work, he felt light, happy and not-so-irritated. Like his mood, quick light steps paced towards the train station. He had been productive. He had gone to the gym, he had finished a good book, and he had watched a movie he had always wanted to see. He felt accomplished, something he hadn’t felt in too long.
Yoongi wasn’t there to greet him. Jimin found it unusual, but his absence just added to his contentment.
After all, he could read in peace.
With nothing to focus his mind on and no one to snap back to, Jimin contemplated why he liked reading in the first place.
It gave him a sense of freedom. It let him see the same world differently, through the eyes of someone else, through a different lens. It let him escape the reality he was living in. It let him feel things he never dared to feel in real life, to let him do things he never thought he would do. He could be practically anyone.
That was the magic of reading.
Yoongi didn’t get it.
Yoongi had asked him before.
Jimin tried to explain, but Yoongi just didn’t understand.
“Why would you want to look and stare at paper for hours on end? Don’t you feel tired?”
“It’s not paper, it’s a book.”
“It’s paper with words on it.” Yoongi had said. Satisfied with his statement, Yoongi had clamped his headphones on quickly fell asleep, yet again relying on Jimin to wake him up when the time came.
Jimin sat himself down and, like his usual nature, pulled a book out.
Just then, a figure stumbled into the train.
Jimin thought that a zombie had entered. Jimin thought it was the apocalypse.
A being trudged towards Jimin. Dark circles surrounded his eyes. His complexion was pale – almost grey- and a grumpy scowl was plastered firmly onto his face like adhesive. Nothing could rip it out. Yet, Jimin seemed unfazed.
It was just Yoongi.
Yoongi shuffled towards jimin, and literally fell into the seat next to his. And, as said earlier, jimin was in a great mood. And so, for once, jimin decided to bring all the peace into the world and throw flowers and happiness like candy. He cleared his throat and asked awkwardly, because it wasn’t something he did often.
“Hey. How are you today?”
“Shut up.” Yoongi growled.
Jimin fell silent and returned to reading his book.
See, Yoongi liked attention. So when he realized that Jimin didn’t ask him why he was in a bad mood that day, he decided to speak up himself.
“I had a bad weekend. And Mondays suck.”
“I find Mondays okay.”
Yoongi jolted awake. His eyes had widened as big as he could. Yoongi had suddenly, magically transformed into his old self, just like that, in the snap of his fingers, in the blink of an eye. He blurted, “Wait, what?”
“I said that I find M-”
“No, I heard what you said. Park Jimin, no one likes Mondays. This is a fact. That’s why it’s called Monday blues. That’s why people use shampoo to wash their face and facial cream to their hair in the morning on Monday.”
“Well, I find Mondays okay.”
“Park Jimin, you might most possibly be the only organism in this entire universe that likes Mondays.”
Jimin shot him a look that said, organism?
Yoongi was, very clearly awake, and himself right then.
“Have you seen a doctor yet?”
Jimin felt a slice in his heart. “Why would I need one?” He said aggressively.
Yoongi pushed himself forward, closer to Jimin and examined his face. Jimin pushed himself back uncomfortably.
“Are you sure that you are not a robot?” Yoongi asked.
Jimin narrowed his eyes. “Why the fuck would I be one?”
And then Jimin returned to his book, ignoring the explanation that Yoongi tried to give.
