- Chapter 222 More Expensive than Abalone as Big as Face
“Whoosh!” As the sound dropped, Chen Fan knew that his bullet had hit the target. When he opened his eyes, Nagasawa was already lying in a pool of his own blood.
The sensation of annihilating a person is truly overwhelming. This resulted in Chen Fan’s loss of appetite, as he was not even in the mood for lunch and dinner. His stomach only started feeling better on the following day.
He routinely opened the incubator and gently rolled the egg aside, after getting up from bed. It had been thirteen days since Chen Fan found this egg. When a bright light from a powerful torch was shone on it, there would be a visible outline of the chick. The eaglet was expected to hatch in about a week.
After flipping the egg over, Chen Fan dusted his palms and channeled his consciousness upon the electric eel. He controlled the eel to swim around and hunt for some fresh seafood. This hunt for seafood was not meant for his own appetite, but rather was meant to be supplied to the restaurant.
When Chen Fan handed the five hundred thousand dollars to his parents, they had initially planned to invest a small portion of it into a hotel. However, Chen Fan thought that if they were to invest in a hotel business, they might as well make it big.
Coincidentally, there was a pretty large scale hotel at Ping Hu Street that was looking for a new owner. Chen Fan had seen this hotel long ago.
It was an idle, luxurious four-story building that stretched up to eight thousand square meters. Chen Fan did not have to think much before setting his sights on this hotel.
The hotel was called Ping Hu Tower, and the previous owner had made a fortune by doing property sales, but now he wanted to get rid of this ‘low profit burden’ in order to focus his capitals on bigger property investments.
The price was agreed upon over the phone. The price for the whole building being 35 million, with a yearly rental of five million. The owner of the hotel mentioned on the phone that, if he was able pay eighty million upfront, he would sell Chen Fan the entire building outright.
‘I will get my people to sort out the procedure with you tomorrow.’ Chen Fan signed another eight hundred thousands off his bank account.
In essence, there were no losses incurred by purchasing the hotel at such a price. Notwithstanding its strategic location within the high class eatery area in Zhong Yun City, its interior decorations qualified it to be one of the the top ten restaurants in town. Solely based upon the value of the pure wool carpet that covered the floor of all three floors within the building alone, it could already fetch up to five million.
Most of the renovation work was brand new, and the business even came with servants and chefs. Chen Fan got his parents to contract renovation companies to install fine aquariums of all kinds around the lobby.
This would make a person feel as if he had entered an underwater world, right upon stepping into the lobby. He would then stuff all the top class sea creatures, like abalones, lobsters, crabs, snappers and sea cucumber into those aquariums. When the time comes, he planned to capture two sharks and put them by the glass wall next to the entrance, to make the whole place feel even more classy.
Most seafood in the fresh markets nowadays was artificially bred. One fresh abalone would cost only five yuan, while the wild ones would be a few hundred, and the dried ones would be even more expensive! (This is speaking of coastal small abalones, not first class abalones or south african abalones!)
Putting all sorts of wildlife creatures in the hotel would definitely attract foodies from all over the place. Catching exotic seafood would be like searching for a needle in a haystack for the fishermen! However, for an electric eel, it would be a piece of cake!
The ocean covers over 70% of the planet, so it is virtually impossible for people to eat everything in it. Yet the fact remained that fishermen had drained the supply of expensive seafood in certain fishable areas. However, there still would be all kinds of seafood in the vast Pacific Ocean. He might even be able to find sea creatures that would scare the guests, when served on the dining table!
After working hard from noon to night, the eel found over three hundred wild abalones, each weighing about two kilograms on average, two sharks, and numerous other sea creatures. The sharks were for observatory purposes only. Customers who know the ropes would only consume the fins of a shark, as its flesh was not any more delightful than bamboo leaves.
Just as he docked his submarine, he took out his phone and made a call to Wang Bing, asking him to bring the transportation truck over to send the harvest to the hotel.
“Oh..oh damn, Boss. Did you just steal someone else’s breeding net box?” Wang Bing muttered, after staring blankly at the boxes of fresh sea harvest for 30 seconds.
“That’s what the southeast asian merchants use to deliver the stocks!”
Wang Bing gave Chen Fan a sideway glance, his expression clearly saying “Don’t you dare pull my leg.”
Chen Fan looked around, without responding, then said, “Did you hire the security team, per my instructions?”
“Yes, 22 in total, six of them being veterans, and the rest are local youths.” Wang Bing complained, as he loaded the seafood onto the truck, “Hey Boss, aren’t you already one of the richest men in Zhong Yun? Why are you still fiddling around with all these? Oh Lord, the smell is dreadful!”
“Do you think I want to do all this nonsense? My parents wanted to run a restaurant business and needed me to get them some high-end stuff in order to get the place rolling. Otherwise, all they can think about is to get grandchildren, as they have nothing to do all day long!” Chen Fan’s expression showed great annoyance. “I allowed them to run a restaurant business, so it could keep them busy enough to forget about this whole issue about getting grandchildren!”
“That sounds about right!” Wang Bing could totally relate to this problem, as his mother was also giving him the same problem. She was always trying to set him up with someone!
“Oh, Boss, the new house is ready. When do you plan to move in?” Wang Bing picked up a cigarette, lighting it as he squatted on the floor after loading all sea harvest into the truck.
“Let’s see about that. It feels weird and difficult to feel secure, now that I have attracted the police’s attention.” Chen Fan squatted next to him and asked for a cigarette. Wow, this kid’s got some great stuff right here!”
“It’s not much!” he chuckled and said. “What is there to fear? If the police come, I could smell them from three miles away. Plus, it has been three months since the incident, so they have probably forgotten about you!”
“It doesn’t matter where I stay. It only takes me about ten to twenty minutes to get back to Zhong Yun anyways.”
He had to get the egg hatched during these next few days. It was way too tiring to travel back and forth so frequently!
“Alright, get the truck back first, then come back for another round. Remember to get more on the security team the next round. I’ve got two sharks, 40 meters each, along with other big fish. The sharks are fine, but the others are really precious. These damn fish, abalones the size of a basin are only crumbs in comparison to them. I didn’t even dare put them in the net. Instead, I got them to be transported individually.” Chen Fan stood up, then flicked the cigarette butt and walked toward the beach.
“A 40 meters long shark? Basin-sized abalones are crumbs, compared to these fish? Wang Bing almost tripped and fell on the floor. Do fish like these really exist in the world?
……
Back in his cave, Chen Fan turned on his computer and started searching for the latest sports car, itching to get a new one.
After a long search, he realized that most sports cars were either two-seaters, or squarish, like a Rolls Royce. He also saw that the Maybach 62S that he used to own had launched a new model.
“Whatever, I’ll get a Maybach, then a Lamborghini. It’s not like I’m short of money!” Chen Fan shook his head, as he turned off the webpages.
The next day, Chen Fan routinely came to the incubator and flipped the egg over, after waking up from bed. He then changed into some clean clothes. His parents’ restaurant would be launching today, so he had to go check it out.
Ping Hu Street was on the east of Zhong Yun city, about 600 meters away from the shore line. The new restaurant was located on the golden spot of Ping Hu Road, where there was a huge stretch of beach at the back of the restaurant. He could even take off his shirt to cool himself himself off in the waters on a hot sunny day.
After a 20 minute car ride in the black BMW, Wang Bing parked the car in front of a silver four-story building. Natural House! This was a name that Chen Fan had come up with. He even got his parents to hire a famous calligraphy artist to design their plaque.
They kept the launch low-key, having only some buntings on both sides and eight beautiful servants, who stood in two lines as they welcomed the guests. However, there are some things that are like fireflies in the dark night, no matter how humbly you fly, you will still attract everyone’s attentions. For example, the two massive sharks on both sides of the entrance would not be ignored easily!
Occasionally, some passersby would be curious about the authenticity of the shark and end up totally shocked upon learning it was indeed true. Frantically, they would then always pull out their cell phones to take pictures.
Normally, the fishermen, when dealing with sharks, would cut off the fin of a shark after capturing it, then sell its flesh off at dirt cheap prices. Hence, they would definitely not be shocked or excited over two mere sharks.
However, these restaurant patrons were, and even screamed loudly. All of their faces flushed red, and they started summoning all of their friends over.
“Oh my goodness, a great white shark, it’s a great white shark…”
A few young girls screamed as they ran toward the glass wall. One of them took out a digital camera, “snap, snap, snap”, and kept taking pictures of the two great white sharks. As if unsatisfied, one of them turned on her flash, resulting in a bright white light flashing as she continued to click with the camera.
This greatly angered the great white shark. Showing its displeasure, it started swimming back and forth, while banging itself on the glass wall and making loud noises.
“Arrgh!” The young girls backed off in fear, like frightened does.
“Idiots!” Wang Bing sat in the control room, lustfully checking them out, while shamelessly labelling the girls with “nicknames”!
“Why do I feel that you are mocking yourself?” Chen Fan mumbled with his mouth full, as he was eating his breakfast.
After getting out of the car, he walked the red carpet. Chen Fan felt as if there were “millions of little spikes” on his back. He turned back and found those beautiful waitresses eyeing him.
Why did they emit such passionate gazes? Some of their gazes even seemed to be stretching towards a burning passion.
He was young, single, rich, and most importantly, the only son of their boss. Hence, what an ideal bachelor he made!
It’s normal that the girls’ gazes were filled with such burning desire, when Chen Fan came to the restaurant to discuss business strategies with his parents. That was also why he was not a stranger to the staff members.
Plus, his parents were really friendly with the staff, as they were always chatting away with several senior kitchen crews. As the word spread, eventually, everyone from the old cleaning maids to the young fresh grad waitresses had learned that Chen Fan was single. All of them then started fantasizing all day about introducing their relatives to Chen Fan, or even about throwing themselves at him!
“Hello, Boss!” The sweet voices of these eight beautiful waitresses got Wang Bing weak in his knees, so that he almost fell on the pavement!
Chen Fan was not experienced in this type of attention, so he chose to put on a straight face. His expression may have seemed calm, but the windows to his soul leaked his secrets. Knowing this, he kept his eyes on the floor, not daring to return the fiery gazes of these waitresses.
