CHAPTER: 11

Bloop.

With a weird sound, the signal disconnected and the screen went black. Simultaneously, the lights all over the plane dimmed and flickered, while the control panels buzzed continuously. It was then Alex noticed that the lady had taken out some kind of small device and switched it on. Luckily it seemed not to be an EMP and only a Signal jammer device.

Alex sighed and thought of ending the lady’s life to stop her from making the situation worse, but decided against it. He wanted to find out their purpose and the organization behind them. If it was before, Alex wouldn’t even think of doing something like that, but he is now powerful and confident in Nanites’ strength. He has Nanites that are the best spies in the world, so he sent some grams of Nanites and hid them on her body.

She then opened a box and removed the contents from it, it was a wingsuit and seemed to be an electric motor-powered. After seeing the wingsuit, Alex finally knows that she never planned to stay on the plane until the end. He then stopped watching her and thought about how to control the plane and land it safely.

He didn’t fear the bomb as Nanites can devour the bomb and for the matter of hijackers is considered, he can just have the Nanites deal with them as they did with the old hijacker. But he has to careful and not raise suspicions on how he will deal with them as the cockpit and the outer cabin has cameras that record everything and store them in a black box. He didn’t want to do any weird things and make himself suspicious under the authorities’ eyes after they watch the surveillance video. So, he has to act discreetly and cautiously, not to raise any suspicion.

Alex then checked the map on the phone through his control of Nanites and found several water bodies where he can land the plane. Other than an emergency landing the plane on water, he is not sure if he can land the plane on the runway, as it requires control and technical knowledge and experience to do. Not just anyone can land the aircraft properly. He then looked into the offline map and found a large water body 312 km away from the plane. It was a laked named ‘Bossom,’ and it is large and wide enough to land a plane.

After making sure that he calculated the lake’s space and dimensions correctly, he relaxed and focused on the hijackers. After seeing that they can’t open the door, the two hijackers who shot at Alex returned to the economy cabin and spoke among themselves, gesturing wildly and agitatedly. One of them waved his gun and gestured at the passengers and then towards the door as if saying, take them as a hostage and make the person open the door. It seemed they agreed to the suggestion and two among them nodded and looked through the cabin, trying to find their prey or hostage.

They both walked forward and arrived at the seat where a mother and child were seated, the child had closed his eyes and hugged his mother tightly, and the mother was terrified seeing them approach her seat. She was tearing up and sobbing as she seemed to have guessed what they were trying to do to her and her son. She was so terrified that she couldn’t even muster up a word against them as her eyes just stared at the terrifying demons approaching her and reached their hands towards her when a loud shout distracted them.

BANG!!

A dark-skinned man stood up and shouted at the hijackers, unable to see the atrocious act they were going to do that mother and child. But sadly, his act of bravery was met with a bullet hole on his head. His body collapsed onto the ground as his eyes were wide open, but there was no fear in them.”Foolish people, don’t try to act brave or I will shoot everyone down,” came the voice from one of the hijackers. As the hijacker standing nearby waved his gun in the air showing that he can do it.

The two hijackers, unfettered by the passenger’s outburst, reached their hand and held the hairs of the mother and the child of 12 years old.

“Noooooo!!!..leave us alone. I beg you..leave us. At least leave my child alone!!”

The woman shouted hoarsely and begged to leave her child alone. But, they didn’t listen to anything and dragged them by their hairs, like they were some kind of ragdolls. The child was silent all along and it seemed he was shocked and couldn’t even mutter any word as he just closed his eyes and got dragged along.

Alex, who was watching this through the vision was very furious. His blood was boiling in anger and even though Nanites calmed his emotions. They couldn’t contain the emotional outrage he was feeling right now. He decided to change his plans and end these pesky hijackers’ lives. But, he can’t just have Nanites kill them, so he thought of luring them in and killing them. It will be risky but he can take care of it, as he is not afraid of death unless he is shot in the head or at heart.

Alex picked up the scalpel from the ground and looked at the CCTV feed and watched as the hijackers’ dragged the mother and child from the economy cabin and towards the cockpit. He prepared himself mentally and physically as he needs to bring down two assailants with guns while only having a scalpel. He has Nanites, but he has to act like usual not to raise suspicions.

THUD..THUD…

One of the hijackers banged on the door while shouting at the position of the hidden cam.

“Open up the door or we will shoot them both. Their deaths will be on you. Unless you open the door, we will continue killing a person. Until none of them remains”.

If it had been any normal person, they would have either given in pressure or mentally broke down.

But Alex stared at the screen with a murderous glint in his eyes as the hijacker shouted at the cam leaning on the cockpit door, and the other person is watching the woman as he gripped onto her hair, pulling her head upwards. While his other hand was holding the gun pointed towards the ground pointing towards the child.

Alex let the Nanites enter their bodies through ears and put them on stand-by. He then pushed the cockpit door with force and it swung open and pushed the hijacker leaning on the door. Due to sudden push, he couldn’t respond in time and got tripped and fell on to the ground. At the same time, Alex raised his hand and threw the scalpel like a dart towards the other hijacker holding the woman. He wasn’t even looking at the door as the scalpel came and stuck him in the eye and pierced deep into the brain.

Alex then rushed forward and jumped towards the fallen hijacker and crashed onto his chest with his legs. With the sound of bones breaking, the hijacker’s chest dented inwards as the force knocked the air out of his lungs, and he fell unconscious due to the pain and shock from the force.

Alex swiftly grabbed the fallen gun from the hijacker’s hand and turned around towards the mother and child duo, and gestured at them to enter the cockpit and be silent. The mother, who was in shock, understood what he meant and her fearful face was replaced with happiness from being saved. She grabbed her son and walked towards the cockpit while mouthing ‘thank you’ to Alex.

Alex nodded and gave her a reassuring smile and looked towards Anna, the flight attendant who is alive due to being saved by the Nanites. He had placed her in an inconspicuous location not to be seen by hijackers. He picked up the second gun from the dead hijacker along with the scalpel. He then lightly walked towards the economy cabin while checking the gun to make sure it is loaded and has enough bullets. He tucked one gun in the side pocket with the scalpel while he held the other gun with both hands.

He peeked through the curtains and saw that a hijacker’s back was facing him and the other hijacker was standing at the end of the cabin. They both took positions near and far and watched the passengers. Alex readied and aimed his gun at the back of the hijacker and waited for a chance. In just three seconds of wait, the farthest hijacker turned his head towards his left to check on the passengers near him. Alex tightened his grip on the gun and pressed on the trigger.

BANG!…BANG!…

Alex fired two shots squarely onto the nearest hijackers’ head, instantly killing him.

The passengers were shocked to hear gunshots and looked on towards the sound as Alex in his casual clothes passed through the curtain swiftly. In his hand was a standard Glock pistol, his gaze sharp and steady as he directed his gun towards the hijacker, who turned his head to look at Alex.

The hijackers’ eyes widened as big as saucers and he tried to lift the gun to shoot, but before he could do it, Alex fired first emptying the entire bullet chamber and filling the body of the hijacker with lead.

Only after the farthest hijacker collapsed did Alex put his hands down and exhaled heavily.
