Super Nanites - Chapter 12: CHAPTER 12: "RETARD!! RETARD!!"
Only after the farthest hijacker collapsed did Alex put his hands down and exhaled heavily. The passengers were shocked by the turn of events and couldn’t think of what’s happening. Then a passenger stood up and shouted happily.
“We are saved…we are saved!!”
Everyone then started cheering and shouting one by one and their happiness knows no bounds, each and every person looked at the young man who saved them, their eyes full of gratitude and appreciation.
Alex raised his hand and gestured for them to calm down. After seeing they calmed Alex spoke, “Everyone! The hijackers have been dealt with. But, we are still not safe. Sadly the pilots have been killed and we are flying blind, the communications are lost due to an unknown cause. All the attendants and pilots are dead, so I need to know if any of you has any knowledge of planes or has piloted any kinds of planes?”
The smiles on everyone’s face disappeared and once again replaced by despair and sadness at their doom. Seeing that no one responded to his question Alex understood that he can’t depend on them. He then remembered the flight attendant that he saved. She needed a blood transfusion and medical attention.
Alex once again spoke, “There’s an injured flight attendant she needs a blood transfusion. If there are any doctors or nurses present, please help her”. Finishing what he said he didn’t wait for their answer and left back to the cockpit. As he has more important things to deal with and landing the plane safely is of utmost importance.
Alex returned back and saw the mother and child duo outside the cockpit. The child seemed to have fainted while the mother was retching continuously, it seemed they saw the carnage inside the cockpit and the child fell unconscious with shock.
“The hijackers’ have been taken care of, take your son and get seated. While at that there’s an unconscious flight attendant in that corner, put her on to a seat too.” Alex said as he walked past her and entered the cockpit and closed the door.
Inside the cockpit, he sat on the captain’s seat and closed his eyes. He was mentally exhausted after the shootings, as he had completed the killings in under a minute. He killed five people all of a sudden and he was somehow unaffected by the deaths. Though it was a good thing that he was not affected by emotions, as he was able to swiftly deal with them. Now, he has to wait for the lady hijacker to exit the plane and then he will control the plane and try to land it safely.
While he was thinking, at the economy cabin the passengers were praying and tightening their seat belts, while some were calming others and three people went towards the cockpit looking for the mother and child and the unconscious flight attendant.
They found the mother putting her son on a seat and tightening his seat belt, they all swiftly walked towards her and one of them asked, “Where’s the young man and the flight attendant?”
The mother looked at them and replied, “The young man entered the cockpit and locked the door, while the attendant is at that corner, can you bring her here we need to put her onto a seat”. The three of them nodded and two people left to carry the attendant, while the other person who spoke stayed with her.
Just as he was about to speak the whole plane suddenly plunged down and shook continuously as if it was going through a storm, instantly plunging everyone into chaos, as hysterical screams and cries started. While, eVeryone seated was safely held onto the seats, while those standing got flung up and tossed around. The oxygen masks dropped from above as people hurried to put them on.
Alex opened his eyes and as the plane plunged down due to low pressure as the lady opened the emergency door and dropped from the plane which caused the air to flow out creating a low-pressure environment. He willed for the Nanites to close the door and as it closed the air stopped flowing out and the systems automatically re-pressurized the cabin keeping it at a stable level of 8000 feet.
It took less than thirty seconds for all this to happen. After seeing that the plane was still in autopilot mode and the flight path hadn’t changed, he sighed in relief. Even though Alex looked like he was calm and collected, he was also nervous as he only has so many options to get out alive. Even if he escaped now, he has to live in hiding as he can’t explain how he was alive while everyone died. It is more so without a lack of parachute. So he has to get stuck in and try to land the plane safely.
Alex checked through his visions and found many people were injured, as the plane stabilised concerned people got up and went to check on others and helping them seated. Alex looked at the time and it was 7:30 an hour has passed since he got onto the plane. He then had the Nanites devour the bomb, while he looked at the controls trying to understand, what their purposes are for as well as keeping an eye on the digital map to check the plane’s position.
The plane is still 10 minutes away from reaching the optimal location landing in the Bossom river. He has many things to do before he can land, first of all, he has to switch off the autopilot mode and switch to manual pilot and then lower the altitude of the plane while keeping the pressure in the cabin constant and not making any sudden movements.
He knew that he has to lower the altitude when he neared the lake and take control of the plane. So he was waiting for the correct time while looking through controls and found the manual pilot mode button. He then checked the power gear and lever and looked at the words printed on them and made inklings to their uses and calculated and simulated a basic model of operation inside his head.
After a few minutes, he saw from the port view or the front window that two jets passed by the plane and stayed at the front maintaining a certain distance between them, and their tail lights are flashing seemingly indicating codes that trained persons only know. But, as both the pilots and attendants are dead, and Alex doesn’t know any kind of secret codes he couldn’t understand them.
He stopped watching them and pressed on the manual mode and the button lightened up to green indicating its on manual mode. He then put his hands on the control and tried to push it down slowly to lower the altitude, but unexpectedly it wasn’t moving. He was stumped and checked if there was any problem but found none, its not that he could understand any. So he stood up and reached towards the co-pilot’s control and tried to push it. It moved slowly and the plane’s nose slightly bent down.
He hurriedly removed the co-pilot’s body from the seat and sat on it and held the controls and slowly moved the control down while looking at the altitude meter.
It moved from 35,000 feet to 30,000.
28,000 feet.
25,000feet..
20,000feet..
19,000feet..
IT was then, the automated system on the flight reminded Alex.
“THRUST TOO HIGH”
“RETARD. RETARD”

Author’s note:
Retard: In aviation, “retard” is a command to reduce the throttle position.
