Super Nanites - Chapter 7: CHAPTER 7: "Good night Anemus"

Alex walked out of his room and made a beeline for the basement and entered it.

The whole place brightened as he walked down the stairs and reached the ground. It was a huge basement with all kinds of stuff lying around. Luckily, their house is modernized, and they have automated lights all over the place. So there won’t be a need to enter the creepy basements, fearing any ghosts will creep on you until you switch on the lights.

He then walked towards the work-bench where all kinds of tools were placed neatly. He smiled at those tools. His dad brought them years ago to fill the work-bench and make it look better. Now, they are serving their purpose. He willed for the Nanites to devour the five-kilo hammer.

The Nanites that were transformed into a watch melted and slid through the hand and fell on the ground, and swiftly made their way for the hammer he was pointing.

They rolled towards the hammer placed down and started devouring the Steel metalhead. In seconds they devoured it entirely, but there was no increase in size. He concentrated on Nanites and found that it did increase in size, but it was too minuscule to be noticed.

He then made the Nanites devour metals of different weights and finally got an idea of their conversion rates. His face twitched as he saw the entire work-bench empty except for wooden and plastic tools, and all the metallic stuff was empty. On the table were the Nanites that looked a bit big bigger than before.

He slowly exhaled and stopped the urge to have them devour everything, and this urge came from deep in his soul. It was the Nanites that are urging him to let them devour the metals and expand.

He calmed the urge and contemplated the conversion rates from what he found.

A kilo of Steel devoured produced 10 grams of Nanites.

A kilo of Iron devoured produced 5 grams of Nanites.

A kilo of Aluminum devoured produced 7 grams of Nanites.

As he only had metals of these kinds, he doesn’t know about any other metal conversions of alloys. But, from what he gathered, they need a massive amount of metals to expand. And Iron is the most abundant mineral, followed by Aluminum. But, Steel has a higher percentage of conversion rates due to it being an alloy.

“So, I must let them devour Iron, Steel and Aluminum in huge quantities. It seems many need to sacrifice themselves for the greater good of the earth,” Alex thought as he grinned.

He is planning to let the Nanites devour metals from the steel plants and warehouses that store metals. The Nanites are undetectable by current technical standards of earth. Unless they are seen physically, no one can found them, not to mention they can camouflage with their surroundings, and they are invincible on earth. He is most confident in their hardness as they are used on space-ships by an advanced civilization as no conventional weapons could harm or destroy them.

He first has to make them expand more until they reach 50kg. Only then can he use them freely and let them devour things and can they help him.

The energy needed will be a problem as he needs to powerup such a large amount of Nanites.

He decided to deal with that later as he wanted to talk with his parents about his future decision. He spends some more time in the basement, sorting out his thoughts when his mobile vibrated.

Bzzzztttttt….

As the mobile is a Nanite, he knew the information arrived on it without even looking at it. He willed and sent a reply to the message he received: I am in the basement, will be up in a minute.

He walked back upstairs as Nanites crawled back and deposited themselves in his pocket in the form of a mobile. He could hear the voices of his parents and Angela talking. He closed the basement door and went for the living room, where the three were seated and chatting happily.

Alex noticed Angela and spoke to her, “hello Angela. Thank you for staying in the hospital and bringing me home back”. Angela smiled and waved her hands dismissing his words while shaking her head, implying that it was no big deal.

He smiled and sat next to her. While his mom asked: “are you fine. Alex?”

“Yeah, mom. It must be the stress and I was tired yesterday. So I might have fallen unconscious. It’s no big deal”. Replied Alex with a relaxed smile on his face. As his mom watched his healthy face, she was relieved that it was just stress, and the medical reports also didn’t mention any hidden ailments.

Alex suddenly became serious and spoke, “Mom, dad and Angela. I have decided not to work on the company. I am planning to start my own business. It’s still undecided, but I am sure that I am making the right decision”.

All three became silent for a second, digesting what Alex told. The first to recover was hid dad, as he laughed and said, “Didn’t I told you already that you can start your own business, you are wasting talents working for others. We support you no matter what you decide.”

Alex’s mother too nodded, showing her support as Angela spoke, “If then, I too won’t work at that company, let me help at your company. Maybe if it becomes big, I can just sit back and simply enjoy dividends”.

Alex laughed it off and said, “It’s not finalized and still an idea, it may take months to finalize the plan. Until then, why don’t you work and get some experience. That way you can help me more as you will have more contacts and experience”.

Alex simply lied through with a straight face, he never wanted to establish a company. He just needed a good excuse to tell his parents, so he won’t have any restrictions when he starts the plan of expanding the Nanites, and after a few months, who knows where he might even be.

Angela studied Alex’s face for a few seconds and nodded. In contrast, his mom and dad sighed at that. They always felt that having Angela as their daughter in law, but both children never once showed any romantic feelings towards each other.

I will be going to mascot city for a week to discuss some matters about the start of the company. Their parents nodded and then they all talked about regular stuff. Sometime later Marga and Angela went to prepare for dinner.

An hour or more later Angela called them both over to eat dinner. They raised from their seats and walked towards the dining table and sat down to eat. After Marga told her prayers they started eating. They all happily ate dinner while joking and talking about their regular happenings.

An hour later they finished eating and Angela returned to her home. Alex too returned for early rest as he will start his new journey from tomorrow. Even though he feels like he is full of energy, the mental fatigue will catch up, if he won’t sleep on time.

He entered the room, laid on the bed covered himself with a quilt and then closed his eyes and muttered. “Good night Animus. We will have lots of work to do from tomorrow”.
