Chapter 537: Chapter 531: Blind Despite Open Eyes – Part 2
The drama behind them concluded, with David Hale and others climbing into Finn Lewis’s car. Kay Lee had already taken a seat in the car behind during their time in the parking lot. Now, the only ones left in the vehicle are Finn and his few close mates.
After the car began moving, David Hale, unable to resist a wry smile, said: “Let me guess, you guys staged this whole scene, didn’t you?”
“Of course. Who else besides us would care about you so much? Mr. Finn was the one who uncovered everything,” Daniel Pan patted Mr. Humphrey’s shoulder and replied.
“I must say, you’re somewhat disloyal for not informing me about these matters. Hadn’t I decided to investigate, you would’ve literally walked through the fire for the rest of your life, correct?” Finn Lewis said with a chuckle.
Mr. Humphrey murmured a “Thank you” with a forced smile.
“Hey!” Finn reacted surprisingly to Mr. Humphrey’s words.
“What?” Mr. Humphrey appeared baffled.
“If you say that once again, I’ll beat you up!” Finn widened his eyes and swung his fist tauntingly.
“Why didn’t you contact me? Do you think I don’t know? Do you think I’m an idiot? Are you simply avoiding troubling me? To speak strictly, it is I who should be thanking you. If you keep saying thanks, isn’t it like you’re asking to get beaten? And also, all of you guys including Bright James have been the same. That guy you got drunk, is he still at the hotel? Friends, I don’t have many good friends. Even if I were to become the North Federation’s head honcho tomorrow, I would still need friends. Why should we act like strangers amongst ourselves? It was my mistake for not taking the initiative to contact you, and I apologize for that. But the way you guys handle things is also unfair, isn’t it?” Finn laughed as he spoke.
“Well, we can’t blame you for this, we know you are busy,” chubby Callum scratched his head as he chimed in.
“Enough of that, let’s consider the matter done. It was my negligence before, you all were harassed and did not even inform me about it. However, now that I know about it, let’s let bygones be bygones. Nevertheless, I plan on assigning you boys some tasks that I previously overlooked,” Finn said after some thought.
“Wait, we haven’t yet graduated from University! Won’t it cause trouble if we start helping you now? We can join your company after we graduate,” Mr. Humphrey hurriedly asserted.
“Exactly, we’ll definitely keep in touch in the future. We’ll discuss work at a later stage, as we couldn’t be of much help currently,” Daniel Pan also joined in.
“Stop, the stuff you’re learning at the school won’t be of much use for me. It might be useful in other companies, but definitely not in my company. Let me be straightforward. It might sound rude, but the money I am making now is so much that I won’t be able to spend it all even in several lifetimes. Even if I wanted to be a prodigal and squander it all, I still won’t be able to. So there’s no need for you guys to think of saving money for me. Initially, I thought about giving away shares in my company to you guys, but I believe that you probably wouldn’t accept it. Thus, I want you guys to help me out,” Finn replied after some thought.
“Don’t rush to argue,” Finn promptly interrupted them as they began to argue, objecting to his proposal.
“Let me lay it out plain and simple. As you guys know, my business is expanding quite a lot. I’ve got plenty of talent in my company. There’s no shortage of professionals all around the world. However, what I lack are trustworthy individuals who can aid in managing my company. In terms of management, I require people who I trust. And undoubtedly, you guys are the best choices. So, whatever you don’t know, you can learn. It only takes a couple of days. As for other professional matters, each one of you will have a specialized secretary to handle that. All you need to do is help me manage the company properly. Do you understand what I mean?” Finn rapidly put forth his proposal.
This wasn’t just Finn trying to aid his friends, but due to the honest fact that he required trustworthy people for his multiple companies. He trusted his friends significantly.
After looking at each other for a while, it was Danie lPan who nodded and said: “Alright, since you’ve put it that way, we’ll accept. Just shoot at us whatever you’ve got. We won’t hold back either. After all, we’re relying on you for the rest of our lives. It seems difficult to surpass you in terms of achievements. And since we can’t surpass you, guess we’ll have to admit that.”
“With your 200-kilo physique, I guess even you would have difficulty eating away my wealth,” Finn laughed heartily.
“Damn, can’t you stop using my weight as a matter of discussion?” Daniel Pan immediately retorted, tears welling up in his eyes. Did he want to weigh 180 kilos?
“Haha, fine. I’ll give you something great in a few days that will help you tip the scales back to normal,” Finn laughed heartily as he teased.
“Wait a minute, can we not divert from the topic please? You guys, who’s behind all the goddamn drama today? Who’s responsible for it? I need a straightforward answer!” Mr. Humphrey suddenly realized that today’s matter was supposed to be his affair, wasn’t it?
“Umm, not us!” Finn and the others exchanged glances and unanimously responded.
Mr. Humphrey was dumbfounded, but he quickly regained his composure. “Damn, if not you, then who else? Was it you, Finn? Mr. Finn, I plead with you, just let me know ahead of time next time you pull a trick like this. This old heart of mine can’t bear surprises like this, you know? I almost fainted when I saw my parents arrive in those cars. I was thinking, have I time-traveled or something, or else, what in the world is going on?”
The way Mr. Humphrey was amusingly in distress had Finn and the others bursting with laughter.
“Listen, it’s really not me. I only provided the money. I didn’t plan any of this. Do you think I’m capable of doing such a dirty trick?” Holding back his laughter, Finn quickly replied.
“Damn, so it really wasn’t you guys?” Mr. Humphrey seem a bit startled.
“Let’s ignore that for now. Tell me Mr. Humphrey, you don’t feel burdened now, do you?” Daniel Pan grasped at Mr. Humphrey’s shoulder as he stifled laughter, “But I must say, you’re a hidden gem. That woman you were talking back to earlier was really badass. Respect.”
“I must admit, it’s still a bit hard to swallow. But honestly, how can I still feel upset with all you dolts around me, huh? Sigh, I already knew for a while now that we weren’t a good fit for each other. Now, I feel even less pressured. Damn it, I almost picked up an unwanted son and got into more trouble. Thankfully I didn’t fall into the trap. Screw whoever wants her; I am a free man from today.” Mr. Humphrey roared.
“That’s what I’m talking about! However, Mr. Humphrey, there’s still one issue you need to address,” said Peak Blair, who couldn’t help himself from revealing his thoughts.
“What issue?” Mr. Humphrey was taken aback.
“That scene that just unfolded, your parents aren’t aware of the truth. You’ll have to explain it to them,” Peak Blair, suppressing a laugh, suggested.
