68 Strings of Fortune and Misfortune
“I-I think we shouldn’t fight,” the middle-aged man spoke as he was scared by Rin.
Isabella had no choice but to stand beside Rin with her staff even though she wanted to prevent this conflict. Those people were also powerful, all of them near level 50, so she wouldn’t let Rin fight alone and put her in danger.
“It’s not worth it to conflict over this,” Isabella said with a slightly pained expression.
On the other hand, Rin just silently stood with her icy death stare on them. If they even slightly attacked, she would instantly use her Thunder Blitz and Lightning Charge to attack all of them with her break-neck speed. Rin and Isabella were just two, and they were more, so if they attacked, she would have to be decisive to prevent getting severely injured or killed.
Calyan started sweating. Even he was intimidated by Rin, causing his greed and inflated ego to subside a bit.
In the end, his hand slightly lowered.
‘It’s…not worth it.’
Opening his mouth, he was about to speak before his friend interrupted him.
“Bitch, it’s just a beast!”
*Swoosh!*
The man shouted, his expression confident. A surge of mana came forward before leaving his palm in the form of several ice shards!
Isabella’s mouth opened wide.
The middle-aged man felt an intense bad feeling.
Luke grinned.
While Calyna…he…his face contorted.
*Crackle, Boom!!*
Thunder Blitz rang as Rin zoomed forward, and incoming ice shards were shattered into oblivion by lightning coating her.
“NOO!” Calyan shouted, but the one who released the attack died in a second.
*Crackle!*
With the effect of Thunder Blitz, the lightning trail directly passed onto others as the middle-aged man, Calyan, and his remaining friend were struck by lightning and severely injured.
Fortunately for them, Rin didn’t initiate another attack since she heard Calyan’s shout.
The middle-aged man barely took out a fruit and put it in his mouth before his charred body started healing.
Calyan and the other guy also did the same as they took out the healing fruits from their inventory.
Luke internally cursed. ‘Damn it, just kill those useless idiots.’
“I-I surrender! Don’t hurt me, please!” The middle-aged man quickly stood up. He had skills and powers, but after seeing Rin’s attack, he didn’t dare to do anything and just raised his arms while lying on the ground.
Calyan and his friend also quickly followed as they started begging.
Rin softly sighed while shaking her head and walked back towards Isabella. “Don’t pick a stupid fight without considering its worth and consequences. If I didn’t see you hesitate, you would be dead.”
“Let’s go, Isabella-sis.”
…
“Idiots.”
Hearing the sharp remark in an unpleasant voice, Calyan and others looked at Luka, who slowly approached them.
“That’s what you get for being brainless,” Luke coldly said as he took out a shining dark orange crystal dagger.
A Tier-1 weapon.
“Give me the vehicle,” Luke stretched his hand towards Calyan.
“Luke,” Calyan frowned. “What’s the meaning of this?”
“You dumb idiots, my meaning is that I stayed with you because you had the fucking vehicle! That car! Give it to me.”
“B-but it doesn’t have enough space for all of us,” the middle-aged man stammered.
Luke waved his hand, causing a trail of magma to shoot toward the middle-aged’s head, instantly killing him.
“I don’t have time for you all to find another vehicle. I want to leave right now,” Luke indifferently said.
“Argh! You bastard!” Calyan’s friend released a dark purple orb toward Luke.
But Luke easily dodged it.
“Next time when you attack others, don’t shout. Although even if you didn’t shout, I would have still dodged it.”
“Oh wait…. You won’t have the next time,” Luke didn’t even turn to the guy as a condensed magma shot blasted his head off.
“W-Why?” Calyan backed off with dread in his eyes. “You even helped us when you first came here!”
“Seeing you shitheads changed my mind. I want to leave, so give me the damn car now!” Luke shouted, his expression dark.
‘H-he won’t leave me alive…’ Calyan’s heart turned cold. ‘If I die, who will tell big brother Tauran and others that Luke betrayed us?’
“I’ll leave you alive,” Luke said upon seeing Calyan’s hesitant expression. “Just give me the car, and I’ll leave the town immediately.”
If he killed Calyan, he would only drop one item or maybe two, so the chances of the car dropping were low.
“Trust me. I am not interested in killing you because it’s not worth it,” Luke pressed on, trying to convince Calyan. “I don’t get any levels, and you will only drop one item, which would likely be something useless and not the car.”
“I…will you really leave me alive?”
Calyan was scared of Luke. First, Luke was more powerful than him, and second, he was the only one alive, so there was no way he could kill Luke.
“I already gave you reasons,” Luke narrowed his eyes. “Just give me the fucking car, and I’ll go. You can tell others in your town about me, but I don’t give a shit about that because I’ll be gone far by then.”
This was the push that Luke needed as Calyan decided to give it to him.
But just as he took out the miniature car toy, he quickly returned it to his inventory.
Rin’s words rang in his mind about picking up a fight after knowing its worth and consequences.
‘I can’t. I can’t trust him,’ Calyan thought as his expression became firm. He had just brushed past death when facing Rin, so something had clicked in him.
In simple terms, his caution level increased after encountering Rin and hearing her advice.
“Luke, I want to live,” Calyan stood up and took a deep breath. “And I know you want the car.”
“If you agree to my plan, you’ll get the car. If not…I-I…will fight you.”
‘What the….?’ Luke was surprised and internally sighed. Tough times and situations could really change a person, for better or worse.
“What’s your plan?” Luke calmly asked.
“Return with me back to our camp,” Calyan said with a firm expression. “I will not tell anyone that you killed my friends and old man Fobor.”
Luke scoffed.
“And am I supposed to believe that?”
“Then why would I believe you will leave me alive after getting the car? I won’t believe it.”
Luke frowned. “Continue.”
Calyan clenched his fist. “Once I see the camp, I will stand at the gate and give you the car. You will leave quickly and quietly while I can also guarantee my safety.”
“If you agree to this plan, you’ll get the car. If not, then fuck you.”
