Because the process of absorbing the Spiritual Qi is like breathing to the spiritual plant, it would naturally lose its grip over the soil while doing so. And since Qin Lan’s hands were holding and feeding it with Spiritual Qi continuously, this trick worked like magic to fool the spiritual plant.
The recently taken-out Oxhorn Root was as big as a human’s thigh when it was forced out from the soil. But it turned into the size of a lower arm as soon as it left the earth. This happened because the medicinal herb is no longer receiving any nutrients from the ground to keep growing.
With one plant were done, Qin Lan continued with the second Oxhorn Root. Eight plants were harvested in the row of ten spiritual plants Qin Lan was assigned to, leaving only two on the field. From his rough estimation, they should be matured in the next two days.
Turning his head and looking at the other helpers, Qin Lan was shocked that they were currently at the fifth or sixth plants.
‘Their speed was a little too slow, aren’t they?’ Qin Lan sighed. He knew that teaching them a little would help them immensely on their next harvest, but he knew he wouldn’t be the one profiting from all this.
Since the buyer for these Oxhorn Roots is likely the Iron Flesh Sect, he feels he has no obligation to help the villagers on this matter. It might help the villagers to get better at their work. However, the most profitable would still be the Iron Flesh Sect, who eventually refining these spiritual herbs into pills.
There’s no reason for him to make them grow, as it wasn’t something that belonged to him. Qin Lan can be said to be nice enough for not killing them in revenge for the unfortunate owner of this body.
But there was a limit to being realistic here.
Since the villagers were not treating him awfully, Qin Lan decided to give them a hand while still could. He helped each of the farmers harvest one additional plant and ended up with a basket full of Oxhorn Roots by the time he was done.
Everyone was asking how he made it so quickly, but Qin Lan simply replied that he was much stronger than most of them over here. It was a dumb answer, but since nobody could sense any fluctuation of Spiritual Qi From him, they immediately assumed that Qin Lan was telling the truth.
With Qin Lan’s help, the farmer was done with their work much earlier than they expected. Close to 400 Oxhorn Plants were harvested today, and about a hundred spiritual plants were left on the farm to be gathered in the next two days.
“We have no idea that you’re going to be such a big help today.” said the manager as he slapped Qin Lan’s back. It was a show of gratitude for his diligent help on the field. Receiving support from those like Qin Lan is practically a godsent to the farmers who live a hard life.
One of the farmers was so happy that he gave Qin Lan one of the Iron Body Pill he kept aside for his own use.
“Senior, I have no need for the pill, and please keep it for your own use.” Qin Lan said while politely rejecting the farmer’s offer, but his rejection was dismissed instead. The farmer insisted that Qin Lan accept his goodwill before leaving the farm.
Looking at the farmer’s initiative made the manager shared one of the Iron Body Pill he had. After passing the pill to Qin Lan, the others gradually left the farm, and those that remained were the ones with something else to attend to.
“Manager, can I ask if I can get a small field to plant something I fancy?” Qin Lan asked. He was unsure about how long he’d be staying in this village but planting something on his own while cultivating would only benefit him.
“Of course. Can you see the empty plot of land over there? If you want, just grab a few wooden plants to barricade where you’re growing your plants and make sure to keep tending them. Don’t be forgetful and end up leaving them unattended.” the manager said while pointing in a direction near the farmhouse.
“Alright. I’ll see what I can grow here.” Qin Lan nodded.
“If you need something, just go inside the farmhouse to have a look. There are plenty of sprouts and seeds for you to use inside there, and as long you’re planting them yourself, nobody will be taking them away from you.” the manager added.
“Then… I won’t refrain myself.” Qin Lan cupped his hands towards the manager and went into the farmhouse.
He took a quick look at what the farmhouse has in stock while planning what he would do. There are plenty of seeds for him to use, but the plant was too ordinary to his liking. There were a few good seeds over here, but to profit from them, he’ll have to stay here for quite a while.
This made his initial plan to cultivate quickly seem further away.
‘Do I have to go to the forest to search for what I want?’ Qin Lan asked himself while making sure he left nothing unchecked.
Soon, he came to a section where there were a few seedlings inside. But based on the dust piling on this shelf, it was evident that nobody touched anything inside here for quite some time.
Wondering what he might found in here, Qin Lan gently swept the dust away and took a container out from the shelf.
‘Eh… Wasn’t this… The seed for that plant?’ Qin Lan grinned as he seemed to found something that could supplement him in his cultivation.
Without further ado, he grabbed a few simple tools and went to the field where everyone planted something for their own. Most of them had a mixture of two to three herbs in their area, as that was the most number he could mix them in a single field.
The seed he was going to plant had the size of about a sunflower’s seed. The Miasma Cleansing Flower was also known for thriving in places with thick deadly miasma. As for his reason to plant this flower, it was simple.
He was going to use the core of the flower to refine some Flesh Tempering Pills.
