“After you, seeded disciple.” the others were behaving restrictively while the six of them were on their way towards the Hundred Poison Swamp. Although he wasn’t too unfamiliar with these treatments, it was a little over the limit he could accept.
“What was the name of the three of you again?” Qin Lan tried to remember their name but found it challenging to remember.
“It’s alright, seeded disciple. I’m the eldest of the trio, Qian Da Niu. This one is my second brother, Qian Da Yang, and he’s Qian Da Gou. We’re blood-related siblings, but we’re not born from the same mother.” the eldest introduced themselves again to Qin Lan.
The three had a similar appearance, bald head, and a pair of big goldfish-like eyes. Their height was about Qian Shou’s height and neither buffed nor boney.
And their attitude was just like their name. The eldest was brave and foolish, and the second was timid and playful, while the youngest was fierce but all talk.
“I’ll be able to remember you guys. But please, don’t treat me like I’m some spoiled young master. I’m also a fellow disciple like everyone inside the Iron Flesh Sect.” Qin Lan said while carrying a smile on his face.
Although it felt good to be called the seeded disciple wherever he went, the attention he attracted had more negativity than he thought. It seems that his cultivation was too low in the first place, which made the people dissatisfied with him. Even the people that never had a conversation with him could carry a hint of disgust in their eyes when they meet.
“But…” the three brothers looked at one another, feeling lost with what they had to do. But compared to the others with a crafty mentality, these three brother’s attitude is more to his liking.
“Just treat brother Qin like one of us, and it will be much more comfortable that way, am I right?” Qian Shou interrupted their conversation after he felt he was responsible for speaking and mediating their awkwardness.
“Then… Brother Qin.” Qian Da Niu was the first one to adapt quickly to this change. But honestly speaking, it’s because he’s a single-minded organism. Compared to him, his two other brothers find it harder to adapt that quickly.
But there’s evidently some improvement as Qin Lan no longer heard a word addressing him as “seeded disciple” on their way to the Hundred Poison Swamp.
Their casual journey took them close to three hours to arrive at the entry point of the swamp. And as usual, this point was filled with merchants and people selling their wares, from pills to weapons and foods.
There are even a few people that sell their navigation service around the Hundred Poison Swamp. A guide like this might be pricey, but the service is often worth the price they asked for. In a place like this, what was most essential was to keep themselves alive.
“Brother Qin, do you need to get anything else before we proceed?” Qian Shou asked.
“Nothing. Let us get on our way and collect what we need in the swamp.” Qin Lan’s confident look made Qian Shou suspect that this wasn’t his first time coming into the Hundred Poison Swamp. But it should be impossible because this location was guarded strictly by the overlord’s manor of this county.
There was a rule where one has to be at least a first-stage Flesh Refining Realm to enter this Hundred Poison Swamp.
This time, the group entered the swamp from its southwestern gate because it was the closest place to where the Milky Essence Mandrake and Nectar Fruit grew. As for the Javelin Wolf in Qin Lan’s request, they can be encountered all over the swamp.
Although this location was known as Hundred Poison Swamp, it was not surrounded entirely by muddy swamps. It was named this way because the core of this swamp is where the king of this swamp, the Obsidian Eyed Putrid Frog, built a nest.
But to arrive at their first destination, where the Milky Essence Mandrake grows, the group would have to travel through a zone infested by various spiritual beasts.
One of them was the Plague Worm, which attacked indiscriminately as long it was a moving target. The spiritual beast itself was a weak monster, but the poison in its fangs and the spikes growing all around it was the dangerous part.
Even after paying all their attention is dodging the attack, one of them eventually got poisoned by the arriving Plague Wom in groups.
The Plague Worm is hardly worth the effort to kill them, but they cannot be ignored either. Due to this spiritual beast’s aggressive nature, they would no doubt create trouble when the group is on their way back after completing what their mission asked for.
But that was because their group didn’t have a proper master, to begin with.
Qin Lan seems to be preparing for something after the battle. But what was puzzling the group was Qin Lan is intended to use the Plague Worm as the main ingredient for what he’s going to refine next.
“Da Yang, Da Gou, don’t throw the corpse back into the water. Bring it over here.” Qin Lan said before it was too late to stop them from disposing of the corpse.
“Bring it over? What can we do with these trash corpses?” the second and third brother was puzzled by what Qin Lan just said. But since both of them weren’t skilled in alchemy, they could only keep guessing while bringing the Plague Worm they killed back to Qin Lan’s position.
“You guys might not know, but the flesh of the Plague Worm can be eaten after processing them. As for their blood, they can be useful, depending on how you’re using it,” said Qin Lan. Instead of speaking, he decided to show them what he could do with them.
Qin Lan started with an incision around the neck to remove the head. The blade was as sharp as his primary weapon when a hint of Pure Spiritual Energy was coating the dagger he took from his waist.
He swiftly processed the Plague Worm in a flash. But that was just the beginning. Qin Lan still needed to cook the meat to let them know about the most straightforward survival skill.
