Survival To Godhood - Chapter 117
The three of them woke up and got ready like the day before. On the way to the arena, many people greeted Leo, but they also welcomed Pedro and Isabella wishing them good luck in the fights today.
Arriving at the tournament area, Aarav announced only arena 1 and 2 would be used for the final sixteen participants. Gladier and Clash would act as the judges today.
Up in the sky, Aarav started to announce the first match of the day. “Welcome back everyone. Let’s not delay. The first match of the third round will be Dues vs. Helias. The second match in arena 2 will be Blade vs. Dur-dar.”
Gladier started to look worried. His disciple was about to face off against the winged human’s youngest disciple. He was practically royalty. The match lasted quite awhile. Helias used his harp to attack Deus mind with music. Deus was a strong warrior, but his mind and soul were weak. Helias won the match and moved on the to the final eight.
Blade was the halfbreed of Unity College, and Dur-dar was Charir-dar’s nephew. Their fight was a quick one. Dur-dar flame attacks surrounded Blade leaving him no way to escape. Blade had to forfeit or be burned to death.
“The first two fights were spectacular. The third match will be Isabella vs. Kieya in arena 1. The fourth match shall be Jeun Li vs. the bear variant.”
Isabella took a deep breath and headed to arena 1. She walked to the center of the stadium nervously. A mermanian with a bow walked from the other side.
“Warriors get ready. Begin!” Clash yelled out.
Kieya retreated while notching an arrow. She fired it at Isabella who barely moved left to dodge the projectile. She missed it by mere inches.
Kieya started to notch another arrow when Isabella asked the plants to grab onto the opponent. A vine with flower buds protruded the ground and reached for Kieya’s ankles. She watched Isabella’s last match and expected this move.
Kieya leaped into the air and launched the second arrow. The second arrow whizzed by stabbing Isabella’s new armor. After seeing the fights, she asked to have some armor underneath her cloak. Lucky for her the bolt didn’t pierce the armor underneath.
The mermanian notched another arrow while running. Isabella tried to have the vines grab her, but she was too quick. The flowery vines kept popping up only to miss their target.
Kieya fired another arrow at Isabella only to scratch her arm. Kieya wasted no time and notched another arrow. She leaped off the ground to get away from the vines and fired the bolt, but this time it was coated in mana.
Isabella touched the ground and had vines wrap around her arms creating large vine-like bracers. She then used the bracers to block the incoming arrow. The arrow stabbed bracers and started to freeze them. Isabella ripped off her new bracers before the yin mana crept into her.
Kieya fired another arrow while she was busy with the bracers. The arrow was shot quickly, and the only reason it missed was that Kieya tripped at the last second over a vine from early in the match. She looked around and noticed they were everywhere.
Isabella yelled out, “I’m sorry, but this is the end. Flowery Bloom!”
The flower buds all over the stadium bloomed, and a yellowish powered erupted from the flowers. The pollen circulated everywhere.
Shui stepped in and created a wind barrier over the stadium to keep the pollen inside and not affect the crowd.
As soon as Kieya breathed in the pollen her entire body started to go numb from head to toe. Kieya dropped her bow, and she collapsed. Isabella had a mask on her face and walked towards Keiya.
She was standing over Kieya to finish her when Isabella collapsed next to Kieya, but she was screaming in pain. The crowd didn’t know what to think. Why did Isabella fall over in pain?
Kieya couldn’t move, but she could talk. “You’re trick worked, but mine got you first. That arrow from before that nicked you was poison.”
“Seeing as Isabella can’t continue to fight. That means Kieya is the winner.” Clash announced. The crowd cheered for both warriors. The unexpected tactics of both of them surprised everyone. Healers sprang onto the field to heal both Kieya and Isabella right away. Once both of the toxins were out of their bodies, they shook hands. Isabella’s eyes were tearing up, but she pushed through it and walked out of the arena.
“You did amazing, Isabella,” Leo told her as she came running over to cry. She buried her head in his chest and just let the tears pour out.
“Even though I did my best, I still lost.”
“That is way life goes, Isabella. Did you learn something though?”
She shook her head as she sniffled. Leo placed his hand on her head and said, “let us go and cheer for Pedro. Alright?”
The two of them headed up into the stadium seating area to watch the next fight.
Over in arena 2, the bald monk tried to fight the bear variant beastmen, but couldn’t damage the beast no matter how he attacked. After wearing down the human, the beastman launched a Paw Strike and knocked him out. The bear variant moved on to the final eight.
“The third and fourth match has finished. We will now hold the fifth match with Pedro vs. Brick in arena 1. The sixth match will be Mera vs. Mia.” Aarav looked down to see Pedro walking to the center of the stadium.
“Good, we don’t have to move arenas,” Leo said.
“Brick is that beastman with the short spear and shield from the free-for-all.”
“Yeah, he seems to have trained in the body technique I left here.”
“You mean the one you taught Pedro and me.”
“Yeah, the very same one.”
Leo and Isabella looked out as Pedro faced off with the large beastman. Brick walked over and said, “It is an honor to fight someone trained by the Beastmaster. May the best warrior win.”
“Yes. May the best one win.” After seeing how hard Isabella fight and still lose, Pedro came into the match to win for him and her. He tightened his grip on the boomerang and Brick took up a defensive posture.
“Warriors get ready. Fight!”
