Survive As The Brute’s Wife - Chapter 101
Alexandra explored around the place. She was not feeling tired or hungry and she could keep on walking as long as she doesn’t try to get out. But she couldn’t find out the boundary of that place as it extended forever.
There was nothing around here except for the vast darkness. Except for the occasional brightness from the surface whenever Maximus appears. He would have a bright smile on his face and she would hear his voice much.
In the beginning, she could hear him say her name and as days passed, she started hearing him lesser. This has started to affect her resolve lately. For those outside, they can track the days and they have others to interact with, but for her, there is nothing to hold on to.
Desolation filled her heart as she took each step on that soft, dark floor and with darkness wherever the eyes can reach. From what she calculated, a month has passed by and she has found no way to escape this place. Her mother was not answering her either.
She has been abandoned.
Like an oasis to a parched traveler, she saw brightness above. And there he was, Maximus, wearing his black and gold brocaded suit extending his hand for her. Then there was a red carpet and that was followed by songs and dances that she could hear vaguely.
[Another ball they are attending!]
She sighed and even then there was no disturbance around her. The surface darkened once more. She waved to clear out the denseness around her. But no matter what she does, nothing is changing around her.
She couldn’t bear the loneliness anymore. She screamed as hard as she could for someone to hear. For Maximus to hear.
But nothing happened.
She saw some disturbance on the surface and she saw Maximus’ face approaching closer to the surface. She has figured out already that she is seeing what her body sees. Most times she won’t see anything but whenever she could see what Wispy is seeing, Maximus would be there.
[Are you mocking me, Wispy? Are you making fun of me after stealing my man?]
Her heart filled with bitterness and dark mist started to rise from the bottom of the pond. But then she saw Maximus reaching out to her face with the gentlest of smiles.
She extended her hand towards the surface to have a touch of the impeccable face of the man whom she loves.
[Max…]
She was pulled hard by the chain around her ankles. But she didn’t mind the excruciating pain around her ankles and tried hard to swim to the top. She waved her hands and tried to kick her legs and struggled as much as she could to get up, but she couldn’t.
It was then she noticed that Maximus is leaning closer to the surface with his lips puckered up.
[No!]
She struggled.
[Don’t kiss her! That is not me!]
She didn’t want Maximus to be intimate with Wispy and did her best to convey her thoughts. But it seemed like Maximus was not hearing her. She saw his trademark smirk that he would show her before doing something outrageous.
[Why? Max, did you come to terms with whoever occupying my body? Do you not want to see me ever?]
Whatever she said, fell on deaf ears. Her heart started to clench and she bent down before kneeling on the ground, sobbing. Her heart hurt and it was a thousand times worse than when she saw Luke kissing that other woman. She didn’t have the strength to even bear it when it is Maximus who is doing this.

“End her pain, Aredil,” the fragile-looking woman who was clothed in moonbeam slumped on the feet of the one sitting on the highthrone overlooking everything. Under him was the whole universe, and over him was a beam of ever-beaming lights. To his sides were the kings of the various creatures bowing their heads in reverence.
It was the Throne-room of the creator of all – The Dragon King.
“Stop this at this instance, Alta,” The Dragon King was not impressed by his wife. His name is not something to be uttered so lightly and no one can utter it with so less care.
But as his wife, she has that right and she is now using it for going against his will.
His eyes ended up on the golden crystal ball that was mounted on a marble stand. Through the glassy crystal, he saw the slouched soul of his daughter emitting pain, corrupting her consciousness.
She never learns!
“Not until you let her out,” Alta gripped his legs and his eyes ended up on his wife.
What can I do with you, my wife?
Goddess Alta, Alexandra’s mother, is powerful enough to let her daughter out of the prison in her mind. But she fears going against the will of her husband. Her other daughter is already grounded in her palace and she didn’t want to share her fate mainly because she needed to be there when Arimelda needs her.
She could hear her daughter’s pleas but she could do nothing. She did everything that works. She stayed silent for hours that would usually work and she refused to even look at him. But nothing is working and he is sitting on his throne just planning for the future eons to come.
How can he do that when their daughter is suffering? How can he not hear the pleads of his firstborn?
“I laid out a path for her. All she has to do is not repeat her past mistakes and her path will open up for her. But she will never learn. If you want to help her, you can get to her and help,” he looked at her.
His voice was calm and his eyes were filled with love rather than anger.
“How can I-” Alta wiped her eyes realizing the fact behind his words.
Of course, he is not punishing her. He is teaching her daughter. And he never teaches with words, but by giving her trials to get through.
“My dear Armelda…” she whispered. “Open the eyes of your heart and see the path in front of you. Only you can find it. Only if you will it, you can see it…” she whispered. “Thank you for loving my daughter,” she bowed her head.
“Our daughter,” The Dragon King waved his hands and without raising their heads they retreated.
“She is our daughter,” he pulled her and she ended up on her lap.
“You are not planning to bring her here, are you?” Goddess Alta asked. She didn’t expect a no, but she thought he would at least hesitate.
“Yes,” he said to her surprise. “Don’t you want her here?”
“No,” Goddess Alta shook her head immediately. “Not when she doesn’t want to.”
The Dragon King said nothing and started tapping the armrest of his throne in deep contemplation.
“What if she would die sooner than she must? Will you watch our daughter die in vain? Can you see her die the death of a human in the hands of a human?”
Goddess Alta was stunned. Her pink lips trembled and her eyes widened.
“What do you know?” she looked at her husband with her face pale.
She wouldn’t mind it if her daughter lives happily even away from her. But if her life is in danger, she cannot bear it.
The Dragon King looked at her with love overflowing in his eyes. He gently patted her head and supported her head on his shoulders.
His eyes ended up on the little crystal ball to his side. Seeing the surge of energy emitting from the little soul crouched on the floor, his lips curved to an impressed smirk.
—–
Alexandra didn’t want to see Maximus kissing Wispy. But she saw the little darkness seeping through the surface getting dark. She looked up and watched the surface darkening.
[NO! Don’t close your eyes! Don’t accept the kiss from him! He is mine!]
This time, she talked with the rogue soul occupying her body. She will take control of her body and will not let this other soul have the upper hand. Who cares who bound her down? Who cares about the reason?
She could sense the calmness around her getting disturbed. A strong current started to flow from the bottom towards the surface and Alexandra tried to get inside the current.
The chains that bound her ankles got heavier and she turned to see a bright glow around the chains. As she watched the links of that chain loosening a little as she rode above the current. She felt the spell losing its strength and her heart filled with hope after almost losing all hope.
BAM!
Suddenly she heard something and she saw something – some very bright light pressing from above her. The current that formed inside the water lost its strength and she started to suffocate as the light passed through her.
She saw the loosened chain links tightening.
[No! NO!]
She tried to yank the chain but she couldn’t. She watched as the brightness left and darkness surrounded the whole place once more.
Kneeling on the ground, she looked around.
[I am back at square one, again!]

Maximus held Alexandra in his arms. She was fine just moments ago but now she lost her consciousness out of nowhere.
«My love… What ailment bothers you?»
He hugged her close.
