Survive As The Brute’s Wife - Chapter 123
Flavia stood by the door in the morning. She tried to get in to announce to them that the food is ready, but she couldn’t enter. There seemed to be some kind of spell that stopped her from getting inside.
She was not worried. The feeling she got from that spell was pretty similar to the feeling she had when she was healed after getting scalded by the boiling hot water. Alexandra’s spell does have a scent – flowery- like that of a rose. And it is filled with brightness and excitement. It makes one feel secure.
And so she retreated tactfully bringing her husband too. They have living quarters in the upper level of the palace, but Maximus has shifted their quarters to the same floor as him. She nodded at Pricilla walking in the hallways seemingly surprised she was allowed to stay near the Emperor.
“He wants to keep those who are loyal to him closer, dear,” Flavia patted Pricilla’s hand seeing the worry in her eyes.
Surely not everyone can be themselves when they know they are staying close to the Brute. But Flavia knew that he is doing this to help Alexandra like this place a little bit better.
“Thank you,” Pricilla nodded. She was doubtful of Maximus’ intent. She’s been hearing a lot of rumors around and it made her wonder about everything. This was the first time she’s been in Lathlin and the splendor of the Royal residence made her oddly frightened.
She talked to Elrich about it and he told her that they can find a place in the city for their stay. And she was very excited about that, but they got an order that they will be staying in the West Wing of the Royal residence.
It made her heart tremble. Her husband Elrich consoled her and told her that it can’t be anything nefarious, but she couldn’t rest her heart. And hearing Flavia’s assurance, she was relieved.
“But Flavia,” Pricilla spoke in a hushed voice although there was no one to around. They say walls have ears and she wanted to be careful. She was once betrayed by those she trusted and in a foreign land, she didn’t think she would be any safer than she was in her home country. But she needed to know certain details.
“Is it true that the Dowager has left the residence out of nowhere? The official information was that she is leaving to recuperate in her country home, but some say it is not what it seems like. And the dead consort… who killed her?” Pricilla asked.
Flavia’s heart skipped a beat.
“The dowager left?” she asked, her eyes wide. She had a feeling that it won’t be good.
She looked at Maximus’ room but she knew he cannot be disturbed right now. She searched for her husband and he was not there. She knew it is going to be a long night.
“Who knows what she does anything? Her Royal Highness has always been eccentric,” Flavia concealed her thoughts and lied to Pricilla.
After talking to her for some time and assuring her, Flavia walked to the guard and asked him where her husband is. The guard didn’t know either and with deep thoughts, she went to her room.

In the muddy fortress, Arioch let out a sigh looking out at the half-moon. His heart was filled with distress. Just now he received news that Maximus and Alexandra have victoriously entered the Royal City of Lathlin riding on Kefir.
<He is my ride! How dare that… nobody used it? And Alexandra… Why did she…>
His thoughts went far and wide. Alexandra must have let Maximus use Kefir because she is thinking that he is him. Arioch in the end, proudly concluded that since Alexandra is still in love with the Luke she knew in the past, she must have done what she did in the past.
And it induced his anger more. He regretted being born this life with this face. If only he had his true face, Alexandra would be doing his bidding instead of that wastrel Maximillian’s.
And he remembered how she acted when she was with him. She was fine one day and the next, she was just… blank. That must have been acting because she didn’t want to help him.
He gritted his teeth and the sound of his gnashing teeth echoed in that muddy abode. His hands were fisted and he punched the wall breaking a good chunk of the wall. As the reddish mud fell on the floor with a rumble, he grunted in anger as he saw the blood on his knuckles.
He only could grumble more. In this life, he has no access to magic and that is a great hindrance for him. He resented his life. Only his will to get back what he lost in his previous life is keeping him alive.
Ths ususal dark figure appeared from the shadows.
“How long will it take for you to persuade her to give up the location of the Orb?” Arioch gritted his teeth, displacing his anger.
In his past life he stored it in the dungeons of the Royal residence. But after her death, he couldn’t touch it anymore and he sealed that inside so that no one would take it.
This lifetime, after he gained his memory, he went back to the royal residence and got to the place where he hid the Orb. But to his despair, the seal was broken and the Orb was not there. He tried to gather more pieces of information, but all he could get was that the Orb was shifted to some other secret place where it would be safe for the Lukyan family to fulfill their promise to the Great Father.
And that is why he urged the dark mage to take on the task. This mage is pretty powerful and he knew he is up for the task, but Theodora is very abhorrent. She is using the dark mage for her purposes without giving up the location of the Orb.
“She gave up the location,” the dark mage pulled out a small piece of paper.
Arioch almost threw himself at the dark figure to get the paper. He got the paper and there it was… the thing he wants the most.
Alexandra had cursed him and his spawns to not touch the Orb. But he is not the descendant of the Lukyan family anymore. Honestly, that is the only good thing about being born in this body now.
“Let’s prepare to leave for Lathlin,” Arioch smirked.
<I will definitely use this Orb! And I will get back what is mine! Maximus… here I come…>

Maximus opened his eyes as the gentle rays of the sun seeped in through the windows. The curtains around the bed were let down and he didn’t remember doing that last night.
«Ah… last night…»
He turned to his side. The gentle appearance of the prettiest woman in all realms came to his view. She was not covering herself fully. Her shoulders and her long legs were out and they were soaking in the sunlight. She was lying on her side and her braided hair covered her chest.
He kissed her forehead. The whole place looked bright as if they were in the midst of a plain in the noon sun. He didn’t know why, but it was so peaceful around.
He removed his sheets and tried to get up. But there was something else that was already looking up. His lower abdomen was tight and throbbing, wanting a release. He used to handle this alone in th past, but he doesn’t have to do that anymore.
«I have a wife!»
He wanted to wake her up and have his way with her one more time. He thought in this pleasant morning would make his bright day brighter.
He leaned to her face and kissed her forehead once more.
“Lexa…” he called out for her as he peppered kisses all over her face and neck.
She didn’t move an inch. She was not breathing deeply either. He o bserved her. Closing her eyes, she appeared to be asleep. Her entire face was red and her lips appeared to be trembling. But her breathing was shallow and it seemed like she was trying hard to breath as if there was discomfort in her chest.
With the tip of his finger, he picked her braids to have a look at her chest. He wanted to find out how he can figure out if she wants him like he does. The last time he cheked, they have different items between their legs.
«Ah, legs! I should check there…»
He let go of her hair and tried to have a look.
“Tubby…”
His arm was grabbed by her little hand and he saw her mesmerizing eyes looking at him. He didn’t want to speak anymore and his lips ended up on hers.
Alexandra was not resisting. She was awake for some time admiring his handsome face. He had long curved eyelashes that had a golden sheen to it in the sunlight. As she was about to touch his lashes, he woke up and not knowing what to do, she closed her eyes. But when his hands tried to…
[Ah… I am in heaven!]
She indulged in the feelings brought forward by his touches.
