Survive As The Brute’s Wife - Chapter 135
Taking in a deep breath, she controlled her fears. It is the same sinking feeling she gets when she loses control over her body. But she cannot give in now. She cannot let her fears overcome her. She decided to fight against it.
[I will not! Not now! Not ever! I need to stop Morfan for the sake of everyone!]
She gritted her teeth and willed herself to stand straight, gripping her sword tightly in her hand. She took slow deep breaths and slowly got her control back.
As she was struggling to stay in control of her body, she realized that the darkness of Morfan is getting increased. That should not happen as dawn is approaching. Not to mention, Kefir and Sekwi are combining their attacks on Morfan. His strength should decrease and not increase.
There should be only one reason this is possible. Inanis is not just letting his voice out and communicating, he is lending his powers to help Morfan.
Inanis is trying to get out!
The entire forest got filled with the malicious laugh of Morfan as his powers increased. The fire swirling around him didn’t hurt him at all and his darkness gained more power. Kefir and Sekwi couldn’t handle the strength of the darkness.
“Sekwi!” she cried as the phoenix was thrown several feet backward as if he was pushed back. Morfan continued to laugh and he shrugged off the little flames that were still burning on him. They were all doused like the flames of small candles would get blown away with a little wind.
“Kefir, retreat!” she called for him. Lending them her mana is not helping and she didn’t want Kefir to end up getting hurt too.
“Can you handle him, Arimelda? You need help!”
Kefir could slice him up into little pieces but he knew better than to not do that. All he could do now is hold him back and hope that the sun rises sooner this day. He had lost hope. And he knew Alexandra is too weak to handle Morfan as she is now.
Alexandra wondered who she might call for help. Her sister is being held as a prisoner by her father, and so does her mother.
[Father–His divine blue flame will render Morfan to ashes!]
She knew she didn’t have much time. She needs to kill Morfan before Inanis gets out. And her father’s blue flame is the only effective weapon against darkness. She needed it.
But she has no way to get it.
At that time, she heard a loud bang and like a stone that got released from a catapult, Kefir was thrown back. His large body that appeared as a lion, but larger than an elephant, was thrown over her head. His wings weren’t flapping and she observed to see him at the brink of losing his consciousness.
[Kefir! No! Oh, No! Maximus!]
Alexandra’s heart skipped a beat as Kefir was thrown at Maximus. Maximus would be crushed against the weight of Kefir. She hoped Ithildin has helped him.
She watched Kefir landing on the ground. He broke his fall using a wind cushion. And after that, he was out.
At that time, Alexandra noticed something dark whooshing past Kefir and it came right at her at a great speed. Her grip on her sword tightened. That dark figure stood right in front of her, ready to attack and Alexandra let out a dry scoff.
Engulfed in dark smoky mist, with eyes glowing red, it was Maximus standing in front of her wanting to kill her. She won’t blame it on him. Morfan is making him do this. Or it could even be Inanis.
This is the price of having darkness in one’s soul. It lets the dark lord manipulate them.
With the sharp end of the blade pointing at her, Maximus stood in his attack stance, seemingly waiting for her to fight him. Alexandra’s heart started to beat fast seeing him standing against her but she didn’t make a move.
This is Tubby! He is not going to hurt her! She knew it.
She fixed her eyes on his eyes. His hand that was holding the sword started trembling. His glowing red eyes were unfocused as if he didn’t want to meet her eyes. And slowly she saw the golden eyes flashing amidst the red eyes.
[He is fighting off the voice of the darkness… My Tubby! He could never hurt me!]
“Tubby…” she said, and her voice trembled a bit. “Fight him off, love. I am here!”
“Le~” his lips curved to a smile, but his eyes turned red once more.
Alexandra knitted her brows as she noticed the dark mist trying to enter Maximus through his orifices. The Darkness is trying to latch on to him and Maximus is losing control.
Watching the struggle made Alexandra wonder if Inanis is trying to get Maximus’ body for his reign on the realm.
And it enraged her.
“Let him go!” she shouted turning her back at Maximus. She trusted he would be able to be free of the darkness. He won’t listen to whatever the darkness tells him to do.
“Ha-ha-ha!” Morfan’s attention turned towards Alexandra.
—–
Maximus was in a weird place. The last thing he remembered was walking towards Morfan with his sword and him trying to attack him with his whip-like thing.
He tried to figure out where he is. Everything looked grim and grey. He walked and walked in that never-ending loop that led nowhere. He became despondent being in that place that stank like death.
Then there was some hope. In the distance, he saw a little bright spot in that barren land of perversion.
He walked, no, he ran towards that one source of light in this barren empire of someone nefarious. His heart brightened seeing the bright figure in front of him with a smile that mesmerized him.
It was a woman. She had luminous hair illuminating his heart, and her eyes were twinkling as if they have trapped the starlight. She gave out an aura that was so peaceful, and his heart found rest there forgetting where he is.
“Come hither, weary soul,” she started talking to him in a soothing voice. “Tell me what you need,” she asked, her soft voice melodious as a skylark.
“I…” Maximus’ heart skipped a beat. He didn’t know what he felt towards that woman who looked like a heavenly being sent to help him. He forgot everything around him.
“Do you know my wife?” he asked. There is only one person who can compete with this woman’s beauty. And she is the one in his heart.
The woman smiled. And then she laughed so sweetly that Maximus walked closer to her. Her watery eyes that held the starlight, made his heart skip a beat and his lips trembled to see the pink lips that is letting out a sound that he has never heard before.
“You are prettier,” he said stepping close to her face.
He had this urge to get to her, to touch and feel her. Even the flowy dress she was wearing made a painting as it flowed with her every step.
« This woman… is a painting! And I want to possess her!»
“Well,” the woman’s eyes glistened as her soft gaze fell on Maximus’ masculine form. “I guess you are like others, after all,” she said, her eyes getting lower out of disappointment.
With a swift turn, she turned and walked towards the fountain and Maximus followed her. He couldn’t bear to see her back. His heart got ripped when that woman averted her eyes from his. He wanted to look more into those eyes that held the secrets of the divine and eternity.
“Others?” he asked.
He didn’t want others’ stinky gaze to fall on this precious woman. She is his!
The woman didn’t answer him. But as a gust of wind blew past her, her flowy sleeves fluttered and Maximus smelled the gentle fragrance of the woman.
«Yeah, ۛShe is mine… Mine!»
Gritting his teeth, he followed closer to her. The tip of her hair that waved in the breeze, tickled his face making his senses go awry. Like a duckling following the mother duck, Maximus followed the woman.
Or is he a moth attracted to the flame?
He is flirting with the darkness, after all. How can it end well?
There was a silvery jug in the middle of the fountain. As the woman caressed the edge of the pool, water trickled from the jug and filled the basin under the jug.
“Do you want to know the future?” the woman turned and asked Maximus.
Maximus was mesmerized. He was glad the woman’s gaze is on him again. His bony finger reached for the glowing hair of the woman and with feigned anger, she stepped back.
“Let me touch you,” Maximus said stepping closer to her and she shook her head with a playful smile, and her hands clasped behind her back.
“Please,” Maximus skipped to get near her. He loved the playful side of that woman.
“No!” she smiled, her eyes lit up more.
Maximus paused. That smile…
“Lexa…” he muttered.
«What am I doing?»
‘Max…’
He heard that familiar voice from above.
“Lexa!” he shouted.
«Where am I?»
