Survive As The Brute’s Wife - Chapter 146
Alexandra started to float above the floor and rose to the top. Holding out her hand, she looked around. The pillars that were there since the formation of the Lethusian Empire still had the markings from when she cut through them with the light from her sword.
“All these resplendence… Do you think I value gold? Did you think that’s why I let this stand?” she smirked.
Maximus was looking at her, with his eyes filled with pride. But she was not looking at him. Her eyes ended up at the men running in and surrounding her. She laughed.
“This resplendence is nothing to me!” she laughed. “Why would I value these…Ah! A golden throne… Adonis Lukyan’s pride!” she snorted. “That gem… I forgot the name…”
With her back to the soldiers standing there, her attention turned towards the throne. “To show my power… What does that mean? Do you want a demonstration of my power, Maximus? Like a jester in your court, or a street magician… should I humor you? Isn’t that want you to want?” her sharp eyes fixed on Maximus.
The soldiers stood there not knowing what to do or if they should attack her. That woman – Princess Alexandra—as she is called, is standing tall in front of them, glowing like a moon in the halls of their rulers. And their Emperor is not giving any orders against that woman. What should they do? They looked at Julius and he let out a sigh.
He didn’t think things would end up here. One day, all the monsters in the forest disappeared and from then on, Maximus became more and more focused on wars and destruction. Even more vehemently than before.
Julius had a feeling that things are not well, but he didn’t predict it would be this serious. He has sent Elrich to the gates as his spies gave information that Arioch is headed towards the city. Maximus hinted to him to secure the Temple and the security there is fortified.
But the Priests all said about the disturbance in their prayers as if something dark is about to cover up the world. And now, this woman is acting this way?
Julius did not find that this is a coincidence. Something is going on. His eyes ended up at the mysterious woman who is loved by his wife, smirking.
But even in that smirk, he couldn’t see evil. He might be biased because she has helped their family extraordinarily. His wife is pregnant thanks to her. He cannot doubt her anymore. And he did have a feeling that she won’t hurt Maximus or the others. He just did.
He urged the confused soldiers to not try and attack the Princess and focus on sending away the ones who are here to watch a show. With swords drawn, the Ministers were asked to leave much to the protest of the Minsters.
They didn’t want to leave.
“Leave!” Lord ZOros commanded, But even his voice was not heard for the Ministers were drawn to have a look at the woman wearing the moon on her, hovering over the marble floor and amidst the pillars, she looked like a pretty statue herself.
Julius and the others who were trying to get the Minsters out, turned to their back hearing a loud noise from behind them.
They saw it.
That big, majestic throne that was made with solid gold and encrusted with Ivory and other precious gems, was crushed flat as if something so heavy sat on it. Like how a chair made on a sandbox would get smushed by the butt of a toddler, that heavy chair that was said to be made by the expert craftsmen of Lethusia under the direction of the Great King, was smushed, and was lying flat on the floor.
The majestic lions that were standing on the sides were crushed. The Aurarius Throne—the pride of Lethusia that made its enemies bow with reverence was lying on the floor like a flatbread.
The gem that was affixed on the backrest of the throne—the Supreme Jewel of the Jewels of Aryth—fell on the floor and skipped before it rested at the feet of the Emperor.
Dread filled the hearts of everyone who saw this. This is the sanctity of Lethusia. There is no place in Lethusia that is safer than this room. There is no chair worthy as the Throne of Gold. And here they are… crushed like a child’s plaything.
Their knees went weak and they knelt on the floor. They were taught from an early age of the golden halls where the Emperor gives his judgment; the place that is protected by the spirit of the Great King Adonis who is watching over Lethusia. They all admired and revered this place. But this place is ruined just like that.
These are the men who have seen war. They stood on the frontlines without fear. But seeing the majestic symbol of their Empire crumbling in front of them… their hearts shook like the last leaf that was sticking to the tree in a storm.
Julius saw Maximus bending down to get the gem. They should protect this at all costs. It is said that the Jewel of Aryth is the heart of the people of Lethusia and the crown of the Emperor of Lethusia. It is their pride. They would do anything to save that gem.
Maximus picked up the gem and looked at it. The sunlight poring in through the windows formed a halo over their chosen Empire. But his shadow was falling behind him as the woman standing in front of him was glowing brighter than the sun.
As they were astonished by everything happening in front of them, a much worse thing happened.
The jewel popped like a bubble.
The ones on their knees found it hard to keep from spewing the contents of their stomachs. Bile rose from their gut as they were terrified beyond belief.
And as they watched, the little shards of the broken jewel turned to much tinier pieces and shimmered in the bright light that filled the room.
Who is this woman?
Lord Zoros placed his hand on his chest. He was on his knees. He didn’t know why, but he was not willing to stand up. He did not want to fight this woman.
He remembered telling Theodora that she should broaden her mind. ‘Who is she but one woman’, he said to Theodora.
Is she even a woman? A goddess, probably!
“Is this enough, Maximus?” Alexandra asked. Her face looked calm and collected. It was void of emotions. “Or should I show more?”
Maximus looked at her, his lips curved to a pleased smile.
“My Lexa…” he kneeled in front of her. “Do as you wish!”
“You have reduced me to this,” she said, her voice shaking a bit. Maximus’ eyes widened.
“Lexa..?” he looked at her.
She didn’t look at him anymore and the stifling atmosphere in the place got lifted. She walked out of the room amidst the men kneeling for her. No one dared to raise their weapon at her even after she caused such destruction in the heart of Lathlin, but they let her pass.
“All I wanted was for to visit Lady Zoros,” They heard her mumble. “Marcus,” she called for him and the boy ran to her like a dog.
With a snap of her finger, both of them disappeared.
Lord Zoros’ eyes darkened and he fainted on the floor.
“Did you see that?” Maximus turned at them and held out his hands. He started laughing. “Look at this… She destroyed it all—the Rose Knight! I built it all, and she just…” he snapped his fingers with a chuckle.
“Gone! It’s all gone! The Drovarys… She destroyed everything I built!”
Maximus’ cackle echoed in the big hall inducing much more fear in the hearts of all those present.
The Emperor has gone mad!
Drovarys? The Rose Knight? That is a woman! That woman is his wife? He built it? No, it was the Great King…
Everyone sank in their thoughts.
They all believed that Maximus was the Great King when he never openly stated that. But when he started to state that he is the Great King, just like they believed, they started to think that he had gone mad.
Such is the folly of mankind. For they find it fashionable to have opposing views to others. But then they form groups who share the same beliefs as them. They want to think they are unique in each way, but in the end they end up forming a big group of people who think the same as them.
And right now, they all agreed on their Emperor turning mad. But no one dared to say it aloud for they didn’t want to face death.
As for the woman… Words started to spread like wildfire.

Alexandra stared at Lady Zoros. She imposed herself on Lady Zoros and forcefully ntered her room. News about her belligerent act in the Throne room hasn’t reached the Zoros mansion yet. But it will, pretty soon.
“Drink the tea, Lady Zoros.. You will get back your husband, you will get a son, and you will have everything Theodora does not,” she smiled, ever so sweetly.
