Survive As The Brute’s Wife - Chapter 155
While Thoedus was putting the binding spell on the Dark Mage, Alexandra sent the Dark Mage to the Brume Thicket.
The last time she was trapped in the Brume’s Thicket, it was Morfan who opened the seal. Now Morfan is no more. Opening the seal needs higher level magic that would need first-class magicians, like elves. No elf is going to help Arioch, and so no one would be able to get his dear friend for him.
“Where is he?” Arioch lunged at her. He saw her sneezing and the next moment he felt strong mana around him which made the Dark Mage disappear. He doubted it was Alexandra’s doing.
“Where is the Dark mage? Where is he?” Arioch shouted at her. “What did you do?”
Alexandra stopped herself from smirking. This “man” is lunging at her to attack her, without having any proof that she did what he is accusing her of.
Raising his hand against a woman… Something Tubby will never do. It was odd for her to see Arioch with Tubby’s face doing that.
Theodus blocked Arioch out of instinct. It is not in him to watch a man hit a woman. It doesn’t matter if the woman is more powerful than the man. There are etiquettes to be followed.
But Alexandra stepped forward. She didn’t care about the etiquettes. She wanted to face Arioch when he is mad.
“Are you trying to hit me?” she raised her voice. She remembered every time Luke would act the same way to her in the past. Tubby would step in and Luke would back off. She didn’t want to be protected by someone else this time. She wanted to do it herself and show Arioch who she is and how she will not put up with his tantrums.
She is the one in control this time. Not him.
Who does he have for support now? What will he do without her?
“What?” Arioch knitted his brows realizing what he had just done. He quickly put his hand down. “I did not mean to, Alexandra,” he spoke in a soft tone.
Theodus was amazed to see how quickly Aroich could change his expression ridding of his rage. That is some high-level acting there.
“I am not going to put up with this, Tubby,” she threw her hands. She hated calling Arioch by this name, but she needs to remind Arioch that she still thinks of him as Tubby. And Tubby never hurts her.
“You’re turning like Luke. Do you know what Luke did to me, Tubby?” she gritted her teeth. “She spat on my face and have his men stomp on me. I will not let you turn into him,” she said.
“I know…” Arioch said. His face went stiff but then he turned serious once more. “But what happened to the Dark mage?” he asked.
He couldn’t believe that he lost the dark mage. He was doubting Alexandra at times. She has gained a good name among these worms living here. She is helping them and spending time with them, treating them as if they are worthy of her time. He didn’t mind that much because he knew she cannot gain anything by forming a friendship with these sub-humans who only know how to bow and obey.
<She is the one who killed Morfan and is holding the Choshech Orb>
That thought still is in the back of his head. But she was always obedient and is helping him in every way she can. She used her powers to send a secret message to the Chief of the barbarians, she promised she will be present in the talks with the barbarians.
Those barbarians are suckers for power and signs from heaven. If she shows her powers and summons Kefir or any beasts, they will start worshiping her as their god. Those men have strong horses in the thousands. He could win the war using those horses and the cavalry of the barbarians.
And he needs her for getting the support of the elves. Once he gets the support of the elves, even if Alexandra betrays him, they can win the war with the magic of the elves and the cavalry of the barbarians.
But Alexandra cannot be helping that guy. He was the one who stole his life and he should die miserably by the woman he loves.
He should see him standing in front of him, with his wife, and this great army he amassed. He should tremble in fear and kneel in front of him and profess that he is the wisest warrior king in the realm.
<Ha, so what if he gained the name of the greatest warlord of all this time? He only has an army of humans. But I will show him I am better than him!>
And he has another fail-proof way to beat the elves and anyone who dares to oppose him so that he could be the sole ruler of the realm.
He can do it, because, everyone hates Maximus. And everyone will unite to bring him down.
So he already has plans for killing Alexandra once she proves her worth. He didn’t want to take a chance with her. He now could see that she is not going to fall for his tricks. She is talking back to him.
But she was always that way with that guy. He let himself be trampled down by a woman and this woman loved him for that. So he had to pretend to be this weakling who listens to her.
She doesn’t know who he is. She might be thinking that she destroyed that spellbook that contained the spells for releasing Inanis, but there is another way. Inanis taught him that way.
There is a hammer that could crack through any spells.
Once the crystal ball which is the powerful spells that are binding Inanis inside the Orb is broken, Inanis would be free. They, together with Inanis, can rule this world.
They will be elevated higher than the Dragon King.
<I can be a god!>
In Samah Arav- the biggest desert in the realm, there resides a powerful monster—Rephelim. Its skin is said to be so touched that no weapon made of metal or spells can penetrate it. If he could find one little scale from the Rephelim, then he could crack open the Orb and release Inanis.
He doesn’t have to meet the Chief of the Barbarians. They are going to be props. The war is going to start with the Lethusian army on one side and the rest of the armies from the barbarians and the elves from the realm along with the dissidents of Lethusia.
It is going to be glorious when in front of everyone, the darkness covers the face of the earth and Maximus dies after watching Alexandra getting swallowed by the darkness.
<It is going to be magical!>
Arioch’s lips curved to a smirk seeing Alexandra leaving the room puffing nad huffing in anger. She can expect respect for all she wants and can think that she is getting it from him. But she is going to face death because that is what she deserves.
She might think that he is trusting her and that he will protect her. But he needs her for fighting the Rephelim for him to get his skin.
“Alexandra!” he pretended to follow her around. He has to appear to coax her.
<What a miserable life!>
But she ran away and he let out a sigh and walked in the opposite direction.
Theodus standing in the room blinked. It seems like everyone has forgotten about him.
Alexandra turned back to see only Marcus behind her. Arioch pretended to follow her for some time, but as she ignored him, he left her.
[What a bother!]
She looked around. There was no one around. She caught a bug that was flying around and whispered instructions into its ears. The bug slowly flew to find Theodus.
“Your Royal Highness,” Marcus stopped her. His little face held a lot of doubts.
“What is it, Marcus?” she asked. She could see that he wants to ask her something. But he is hesitating which was new.
“Do you get visions?” he asked.
“Visions?” Alexandra raised her brows. “What kind of visions?”
“Visions that show the future?” Marcus said.
“You see them?” Alexandra asked bowing to his level. Somehow she found that there is something wrong here. Marcus’ silence amplified her fears.
“You can ask me anything, dear Marcus.” She assured him.
Marcus gulped and fiddled with his fingers.
“Are the seers truly seeing the future or are they lying? I always doubted them. I once was brought to meet a seer and he told me that…”
“Alexandra!”
Their conversation was interjected by Theodus’ voice.
“Yes,” Alexandra’s eyes sharpened seeing Theodus. She needs to talk to him a lot.
Marcus could see that Alexandra is distracted. “It’s fine, Your Royal Highness. My question can wait,” he smiled.
Seeing the relief in Alexandra’s face he was relieved too. He was not honest with her anyway.
He wanted to talk about the seer lady — Calantar who is appearing in his dreams.
But his question can wait.
