Survive As The Brute’s Wife - Chapter 161
But the elven soldiers who were following their King’s orders were not stopping. With their lances and their bows, they formed a formation around King Glarald, while some of the soldiers wielding swords walked at Freda and Ailwyn.
Theodus drew his arrow out of reflex and stood in front of his wife and son, in a protective instinct. Seeing the hundreds of soldiers to their front, Marcus drew his sword. Arioch walked closer to Alexandra, with his hands holding the hilt of his sword. He didn’t draw his sword out yet, but he was prepared.
“We cannot start a fight here, Alexandra. We have to discuss our plans,” Arioch whispered in her ears. He was ashamed King Glarald singled him out to not enter the forest, but he needs to find out if the elves would be willing to join him.
He wanted to know why Maximillian and Alexandra made plans to join hands with the elves in their past life. And he knows, fighting for Theodus will not get them on the favorable side of the King of Elves and it would become a wasted opportunity.
“And show out a weakness?” Alexandra smirked and touched her ring. The Hashomer appeared in its true form in its glory in her hand.
“I bow to no one. I’ll show you,” she smirked at Arioch, and walked to the front, blocking the soldiers running at Freda and Ailwyn to capture them.
“You shall have to pass through me, if you are going to get them,” Alexandra raised her sword.
The soldiers didn’t care for her and her sword and they paced forward. King Glarald didn’t seem pleased that Alexandra drew her sword, taking the side of Theodus. And he was impressed at the same time. She is not traitorous as her past life. In the past life, she didn’t even bother to stop and offer help to Theodus after he was exiled. With just a ‘sorry’ to his face, that would do nothing, she left with that guy.
But this time, she is more assertive than he always knows her to be. He heard the news of the monsters being set free and the news he heard were all about how Alexandra is fixing her past.
But she is still naïve if she is with this guy. If he is manipulating her still…
As everyone got tensed and a fight was about to break out, Alexandra sensed a disturbance in the magic plane. Someone with powerful mana is making an appearance.
She checked the Choshech Orb to see if there is any leakage and if it might be Inanis. But the Choshech Orb was secure. Others sensed that too and everyone paused at the bright white light forming under a tree.
A figure wearing pale blue flowing robes, and with hair white as snow, holding a wooden staff in his hand appeared. Although he has aged a bit, Alexandra recognized him.
Iorhael- An Elder of the Elvish Kingdom.
She is the wisest and the strongest magic user in the realm and Alexandra personally knew him from the first time she lived here. He is her friend.
“Arimelda!” He extended his hand towards her and walked hurriedly. “My dearest! I thought I would never see you again before I…” his voice started to tremble.
“Iorhael, my friend!” Alexandra ran to him and hugged him.
He didn’t let go of her and rested his head on her shoulders for some time. “Oh… Oh…you haven’t changed, Arimelda. You still are the same…” that’s all he said and Alexandra remembered the fond days she spent with him.
The last time she was here, he was not here. She was informed that he was visiting someone from another realm. That must have made him age. Otherwise, elves have a pretty long lifespan that they could be considered immortals in this realm. There are only a few people she knows who can hop between realms, and Iorhael is one of them. He must have returned to his home for now.
“Glarald, you fool!” The old man then started hitting King Glarald with his staff. “Is this the welcome you are giving my old friend? You say you resect me and bring me back here and this is what you are making me see?” he hit him hard on his back, his leg, his arms… pretty much anywhere he could reach.
“Oh, don’t be harsh on him, Iorhael, my friend,” Alexandra patted his shoulder. She was happy Iorhael would get this mad on her behalf. It is like they say…You can see who your friends are at times of trouble.
“He is just following the laws of his land. It was I who broke the rules and got an innocent punished.”
“Arimelda does not make any mistakes.” Iorhael didn’t believe the words coming from Alexandra’s mouth. His friend is perfect. She is the epitome of goodwill and kindness. She is someone who can only do good. He knows because he was with her. He knows her heart. And he will not accept any imperfection from her.
“I did. I was wrong before, Iorhael,” Alexandra sighed. “And I am ashamed my wrong separated a beautiful family for three centuries and a father missed raising his son,” She said with tears forming in her eyes.
“You are sad…” Iorhael cupped her cheeks.
“I am. I am sorry for my mistakes,” Alexandra leaned into the coarse hands of Iorhael.
“Well, you should be forgiven!” Iorhael said, still not giving up on Alexandra.
Alexandra was touched by his words. For Iorhael and her, what she did in five years is just a little speck in their vast life span. But that little speck was enough to keep a son from his father. And Alexandra regretted it so much.
Confessing to Iorhael did help her a little. But anything she does will be useless. The time lost for Theodus and his family cannot be given back. She cannot make time travel in reverse. The best she can do is to make sure that Theodus and his family spend the rest of their life together in their home.
“What do you want, Arimelda?” Iorhael asked.
“I want Theodus to live with his family in his home. I was the reason he got exiled and-”
“Then see it done, Glarald,” Iorhael said even before Alexandra finished her plea.
“I don’t want it to be forced for what I-”
“You deserve this indulgence, Arimelda!” Iorhael was not taking her guilty feelings into consideration.
For him, Alexandra was the one who helped create everything. She was the one who gave the elves knowledge about magic and medicine. She was their provider and their teacher. So what if she did a little mistake? She should be allowed to. Who here has the authority to tell her to ask for forgiveness. Who here is worth the dust in her sandals?
No one. So everyone should shut up.
Even if one day she burns this place down, no one can ask her anything. They will have to bow and accept what she does to them. She created everything and she has every right to destroy it if she sees it fit.
“I am not letting him in,” Glarald said, pointing at Arioch.
He had no powers against the Grand Elder of the Nandor Elves. Plus, now he doesn’t have to answer those who would oppose Theodus’ re-entry into the Uileag forest. No one will speak one word against the elder.
Alexandra walked to Arioch. He was confused. He could see that they were all talking to themselves, but he could not understand the languge. It should not be the case because he knows every language in this realm.
He wondered if there is a secret language among the elves that he does not know about. He looked at Marcus and he appeared to be surprised too. So he could understand that they are speaking a different language.
But he was scared to see the way Alexandra was treated here. Even the last time they were here, no one cared about him and they all treated Alexandra as if she was their goddess or something. Even now that very old man is acting very familiar with her. For an elf to have that old appearance, he must be thousands of years old.
<How does he know Alexandra? Who is Alexandra? Am I getting played?>
“Arioch, why don’t you travel to the Chief of the desert clans while I negotiate with the elves?” She asked.
“What? Why?” Arioch’s eyes ended up at the Choshech Orb immediately. His heart started to race and he knew that Alexandra is trying to send him away so that she will have her time with the Orb and destroy it.
“No,” he refused.
“But we are short of time, Arioch. And these people… They are mad at me for what I did to their Crown Prince… You see… They are not allowing you inside.” She let out a sigh.
She was not happy Arioch is not let inside. She wanted to keep a close eye on him. She wondered if what she faced with Luke in her past life could be connected with Wispy occupying her body. In that case, Arioch would be needed for her to get rid of Wispy. But she didn’t want to argue with King Glarald when she was in the wrong.
“No, I am not going anywhere, Alexandra. I am going with you!” Arioch insisted.
“But Arioch, do you not trust me?” she asked.. “We all can return empty-handed then.”
